Okay so my Wonka autism is back on the stove yall it never REALLY left ofc but now wilder/timothee Wonka has me in his grapple too! I saw this coming from wilder Wonka but I was skeptical about timothee’s! I was very pleasantly surprised and now I’m like. REALLY STUPIDLY IN LOVE OR WHATEVA 👉👈💖💖💖
Anyways. I’m probably gonna have two separate canons for him despite him being the same Wonka. The personality diff/age diff is just very different so I want to play around with the idea of two separate ones!
Oh, and do expect some drawings for sure 👉👉✨

Summary: Willy proposes to Rose.

It was almost time for Rose and Willy to go out for their special night. Rose thought it would be just like any special night they spend together, but it wasn't. She didn't know yet that Willy was going to propose.
Rose put on the dress that Lucy, her new friend, had given her. She had found a pair of red heels to match with the dress and she put her hair up in an up-do while letting some curls fall in front of her face.
She grabbed a matching ruby necklace (which Lucy had added as a bonus gift since it went with the dress) and was about to put it on when Willy entered the room.
"Starshine, are you almost ready to..." Willy stopped himself when Rose turned around. His mouth fell open and he eyed her up and down. He fell speechless at her beauty. "Rose, you're..."
Rose became worried because he wasn't saying anything. "I'm what? Is the dress too much?" She asked, glancing down at the fabric.
"No, it's perfect" Willy assured her. "It's just... you always look like you've stepped out of a dream. And sometimes, it seems like you're not real because of how beautiful you are"
Rose smiled and grabbed Willy's gloved hand. "I can assure you, I'm very real" She joked with a giggle, which caused Willy to giggle as well. Rose reached her other hand up to caress Willy's face. "You're very beautiful too, Willy"
"I've never been called beautiful before" Willy admitted, closing his eyes and enjoying the warmth from Rose's hand.
Oh, but he was. From his pale skin to his sharp cheekbones, his well defined nose and jawline, his perfectly shaped eyebrows, his pretty violet eyes, and those lips that Rose just wanted to kiss over and over again.
Willy took Rose's hand and brought it up to his lips. He kissed the palm of her hand. "Now I forgot why I came in here" Willy said before he added dreamily. "You're just so darn beautiful"
"I think you came to get me for our very special night" Rose reminded him.
"Oh, right"
"I'm ready. But, can you do just one thing for me?" Rose grabbed the necklace again and gave it to Willy. "Can you put this on for me? I always have trouble with the clasps"
"I can do that, starshine" Rose turned around so Willy could put the necklace on her. Luckily, Rose's hair was already up and out of the way so she didn't have to hold any of it back. Willy put the necklace around her. When it came to the clasp, Rose's eyes closed and she took in a sharp breath when she felt his fingers brush against the back of her neck. It also caused her to shudder. Willy quickly retracted his hand, afraid that he had done something to hurt her. "Did I hurt you?" He asked.
"No" Rose assured him. "I just... the way your fingers brushed against my neck... it felt good" She opened her eyes again. She definitely didn't miss the way Willy was looking at her through the mirror. "C-can you do that again?"
"You mean like this?" Willy raised his hand again, and ran his finger down the length of her neck.
"Yes" Rose gasped again. He didn't stop there though. Willy also traced his finger down the length of her spine, to where her bare skin met with the red fabric of her dress. Then, he started tracing shapes on her back. "Willy" Her eyes fluttered closed as she said it. Willy's lips parted at the way she said his name. He could hear the pleasure in her voice.
Hesitantly, he pulled his hand away from her. He needed to before they took it any further. "We should go, starshine" Willy suggested, his voice deeper than usual.
"Yeah..." Rose agreed, feeling all hot and bothered. As she turned around, she couldn't dare look him in the eye. Not after he touched her like that.
******
The couple took the glass elevator to their date destination. Both of them were now calmed down from what transpired before they left. Willy stepped out of the elevator first and then offered Rose his hand. "Shall we, my beautiful starshine?"
"Of course, my handsome cocoa bean" Rose smiled at him, taking his hand. She let Willy lead her, considering that he was the one who knew where they were going. Rose could see that they were in some kind of park. "Where exactly are you taking me?"
"Just a few more steps and you'll see!" There was no stopping the excitement in Willy's voice. He was just hoping tonight would go well and that by the end of it, Rose wouldn't just be his girlfriend anymore, but his fiance. "Almost there, and here we are!"
"Oh my gosh!" Rose gasped, putting her hands over her mouth. He had brought her over to a gazebo. A white curtain was closed around it, so Rose couldn't quite see inside it but there was no doubt in her mind it was a romantic sight.
"Just wait until you see inside" Willy said. He guided her closer to the gazebo. He then pulled the white curtain back, revealing the romantic scene inside.
There were twinkling gold lights hanging from the ceiling. The floor of the gazebo was covered in a red carpet and sprinkled with pink and red rose petals. The dinner table was covered in a white and gold table cloth that draped all the way down to the floor. There was a big candle lit in the middle of the table. Plates were missing but there was silverware and glasses. Then finally, there were the two chairs on either side of the table.
"So, what do you think?" Willy asked, looking to Rose, hoping that she would like it.
"Willy," She started, smiling wildly. "This is perfect. You never fail to amaze me with all your romantic gestures"
"I actually had a little help with this one" Willy admitted. "Priscilla and the others helped set all this up. It was still my idea to do this, they just made it happen"
"That was very nice of them to do" Rose said. They stepped towards the table, with the curtain closing behind them. Rose loved the fact that the curtain went all the way around the gazebo. It did wonders for privacy.
Willy pulled out Rose's chair for her. She thanked him as she sat down. He then sat down in his own chair across from her. A thought randomly popped into Rose's mind. "Can I say something odd?"
"Of course!" Willy smiled as he nodded. "I love hearing every odd thought that pops into your pretty head" He propped his elbow onto the table and rested his chin in his hand as he listened to her. "Okay, tell me!"
Rose started to explain. "Ever ever since I was young, I've always dreamed of this specific way someone were to propose to me. I've always imagined being proposed to in a gazebo like this"
Willy giggled and then asked, "What else have you imagined?"
"It gets into very specific details. Especially when it comes to the food. The main course is Chicken Parmesan, and for dessert it's chocolate soufflé"
Felix suddenly entered the gazebo. He was dressed up like a waiter that worked in a high class restaurant. He had a couple of plates in his hand. "Good evening" He greeted the two of them. "And how is the lovely couple this evening?"
"We're quite wonderful!" Willy answered.
"What's on the menu, Felix?" Rose asked.
A playful smirk played on Felix's lips. He placed the plates of food down in front of them. "Well, our wonderful chef Danny has prepared his specialty: Chicken Parmesan"
Rose stared at the food and blinked her eyes a few times. It was funny, because Chicken Parmesan was the meal in her fantasy proposal. She had just now told that to Willy, so it's not like he would have known. Unless...
"May I ask what the dessert is?" Rose pressed, looking back up at Felix.
"I'm glad you asked!" Felix said. "Chocolate soufflé"
Rose's mouth hung open, unsure of how to respond to that. So far, this dinner was going exactly like her dream proposal. But it's not like Willy could have known that, so this couldn't possibly be a proposal dinner.
Felix parted, leaving Willy and Rose alone again. Rose's mouth was still hung open and Willy was looking at her with a smile and a mischievous gleam in his eye.
"Starshine, is everything okay?" He asked her.
"Yes, it's just... so far this is going exactly like my dream proposal. The only thing missing is someone playing the violin"
As if on cue, Eleanor showed up wearing a black dress and she had a violin in hand. "May I provide some entertainment for you both?" She asked.
Rose craned her head to look at Eleanor. "Ellie, I didn't know you played...." Her eyes saw the instrument in her hand. "Violin"
Eleanor did nothing but smirk as she sat down in the corner and started playing romantic songs. Yep, this is going exactly how Rose imagined her dream proposal would go. Could it really be though...
"Well, starshine, let's dig in!" Willy said, sitting up straight and grabbing his fork and knife. "This looks quite delicious. I've never had chicken parmesan before"
Rose smiled, also grabbing her knife and fork. "It's one of my favourites, even though I've only had it once or twice"
She cut off a piece but waited for Willy to take the first bite. She wanted to see his reaction to it. Willy did and his eyes widened at the taste. "Oh, this is very good! Tastes almost as good as chocolate does!"
Rose couldn't help but giggle at that. She had to agree with Willy on that. "I don't think anything will quite beat the taste of any of your treats"
******
They had eaten their dinner and pushed their plates off to the side. Felix had come to collect the empty plates. "I will return shortly with your dessert" He promised them, before leaving.
"How are you enjoying dinner, starshine?" Willy asked.
"It's wonderful" Rose said happily. "You picked a wonderful spot, the food tastes great, and I must say, I've never heard anyone play the violin quite as beautifully as Eleanor does" Rose looked at her friend.
Eleanor smiled and chirped out, "Thank you!"
Rose faced Willy again, and then she sighed dreamily. "But the best part is that I'm here with you. And honestly, I don't know what could make this night any more perfect than it already is"
"Well, I can think of something that might make it more perfect. Close your eyes" Willy told Rose. Rose did as he asked and closed her eyes. It got awfully quiet as Eleanor stopped playing music. "Now open" She heard Willy whisper. His voice sounded like he moved closer to her.
Rose opened her eyes. She gasped, putting her hands over her mouth when she saw the sight. Willy was right in front of her, kneeling down on one knee. He was also holding a small box open, containing a rather large multi coloured gemstone ring.
"Willy..." Her voice was slightly muffled by her hands.
"Never once did I ever think I would see the day where I would fall in love" Willy began saying, and Rose could feel her eyes swelling with tears. "But then I met you, Rose. My beautiful starshine. You opened my eyes and made me see that both love and family are not the worst things in this world" And what Willy said next to her absolutely sent Rose flying to the moon. "Chocolate isn't the most important thing in my life anymore. You are"
Rose cracked a smile. "I mean more to you than chocolate?"
Willy returned her smile. "Absolutely, you do. So, what do you say, starshine? Will you marry me?"
Rose was now in tears. They were happy tears though, but Willy didn't seem to realize that as his whole face dropped. "Oh no, you're crying!" He started panicking. "Did I do something wrong?"
"Willy!" Rose calmed him down by cupping his face in her hands. "I'm crying because I'm happy"
Willy's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "But I thought people only cried when they're sad?"
Rose smiled as she shook her head. "No, people can cry when they're happy. They're called happy tears"
Willy calmed down and he smiled again. "So, does that mean you'll marry me?"
"Yes, Willy Wonka, I will marry you" Rose answered him. She pulled him closer to her and gave him a kiss. Willy then took the ring and slipped it on to Rose's finger. She held out her hand as she admired the piece of jewelry. "This is a lovely ring"
"I knew you'd like it" Willy said, taking her ring hand in his. "It's actually made from rock candy"
Rose's eyes lit up with amazement. "Wow" She looked up from the ring and at her fiancé. "I love you"
"I love you, too" Willy said to her softly. He gently placed a hand at the base of her neck and pulled her into a kiss full of love and passion.
It's safe to say that dessert was long forgotten that night.

the best souvenirs to bring home
Tumblr media
among the online travel community, souvenirs are sort of a divisive issue. there are those who would never even touch a souvenir and feel like they are a waste of money and not an accurate representation of a place, and then there are the people who can't stay away from those touristy shops with knick-knacks and bags that say the city's name all over it (made in china).
while i don’t like knick-knacks (clutter!!!), i do love a little bit of shopping on a trip and almost always regret not picking up something. over the years, i have developed and refined my stance of souvenirs -- often there’s not a whole load of room in my bag and normally, i’m on a smaller budget when i travel. but! that does not stop me from bringing home really meaningful souvenirs that i can use in my everyday life back home. that's the key thing you want to aim for -- useful. not anything to sit on a shelf.
so here's my tested guide of the best things to take home from any place -- for yourself or even as a gift. above all, when you don't know what to buy, always lean towards the edible.
Tumblr media
1. woolen goods, especially socks!
in many places, especially in northern europe, this is really a get! socks are an affordable way to get yourself a little something (#selfcare), keep yourself warm in the colder months, support the local economy, and enjoy a traditional product. (the more wool in my winter wardrobe, the better)
above, some spoils from a past iceland trip!
Tumblr media
2. tea or coffee.
when i say i am a tea person, i'm not even fooling around. i take home boxes when i go abroad at all, no matter where that is. i love picking up local icelandic herb tea or pukka herbs tea when i go almost anywhere, or whatever the local favorite tea purveyor is. conversely, my friend ginny is a complete coffee nerd, taking home sometimes 6 bags from a trip!
hot tip for taking tea home: break down the box the tea comes in so it packs flat and put all the tea bags in a ziploc bag - you can re-form the box when you get home (if you want it). another space saver is purchasing only loose-leaf tea which ends up lasting much longer than bagged tea.
Tumblr media
3. sweets, snacks, jarred food products or liquor
once again, you cannot go wrong with the edible! when you visit a place and try loads of snacks and sweets, why not take home your favorites? last time in iceland i did not buy enough tritlar when i left and i had regretted that ever since. this time i tried a new sweet (lindar buff, it’s no tritlar, though).
i’ve also taken home local honey from switzerland, lebkuchen around the holidays from germany or austria, and rhubarb jam from iceland. even if i can get jam and honey here, it sort of gives me warm fuzzies thinking about where it came from and keeping a connection with that place.
please note that one is not permitted to take meat products out of the european union, even in your checked baggage. (eat your black forest ham while you can!) wine or liquor is a great souvenir (also makes a great gift), but pay attention as there are maximum amounts permitted. i wouldn’t recommend flying with beer in your checked bag, but i’ve seen the desperate do it -- more often, people purchase beer at the duty-free at the airport and get to bring it with them in the cabin.
4. prints or art
when you can't get enough of your favorite place, put it somehow on your wall! we still have a print that i've been waiting for frame for want of a good framing shop in budejovice (local friends: advice accepted regarding a frame shop!).
Tumblr media
5. a cloth shopping bag
this, i tell ya, is the cheapest yet most useful and meaningful souvenir for the money you can take home. i doubt it costs more than a dollar, but every time you go to the grocery store in your normal daily routine at home, you'll remember all those stops are your favorite supermarket that you made! it's always a fun conversation piece.
Tumblr media
6. clothes
i'm not just talking about raiding the high street primark (which, cool, if you want to, i won't judge) but picking a unique piece from a place to take with you. perhaps, a locally-designed rain jacket, a silk nepalese skirt, a dress from your favorite clothing store that you could otherwise never afford the shipping for but lust after for months? (just me?) this is the time. perhaps the most expensive of all my souvenir options, but if you save and budget for it, it will become an unforgettable souvenir you may have for even decades.
7. a book or an album
so many books and albums, too little money! but if you see something that strikes your fancy while you're away, don't wait -- you'll regret that more! i don't actually buy too many books even though i love them, but recently i picked up an english/german duo reader book as i know they're harder to find here in the czech republic and i regret it exactly zero percent. while in iceland, i wished i had picked up JFDR’s new album which... get this... was sold in an om-nom matcha flavored chocolate bar. now that is a next-level willy wonka situation. nobody regretted picking up a book or an album!
Tumblr media
8. spices or salts
i always tell alex we'll go back to budapest when our sachet of amazing smoked paprika runs out. (it looks like that could be within the year, so you know what that means!) i love picking up some local spices or salts (whatever the specialty is) to use in my cooking back home, and it also makes an amazing gift. recently i've picked up some herby salt from iceland (above) which has bits of crow and juniper berries in it. be still my herby heart!
Tumblr media
9. yarn
this one is for my knitters out there -- what could be better, especially if you're visiting a country famous somehow for its wool and wool products, than picking up some for your next project? i am such an amateur that i have no idea how many skeins i would need for a certain project, so i personally prefer to have my source near me so i can easily obtain more, but if you already know, there you have it! icelandic wool is famous for its waterproof qualities, making it one of the most prized wools in the world.
(above - my current WIP/yarn stash - unfortunately, i am possibly the slowest knitter ever and need to get a move on!)
Tumblr media
10. holiday decorations or ornaments
i adore my precious ornaments i've brought from past wintery trips and cherish them so much every time i un-box them to put them on the tree! also fun is hanging decorations. kind of funny, isn’t it, because if you saw these ornaments every month of the year, you’d get tired of looking at them, but putting them away for eleven months and taking it out is like remembering your trip all over again!
and one bonus souvenir, because i can’t help myself....
Tumblr media
11. shower or bath goods
i tried the sóley organics line from iceland on my second trip and adored the fresh herbal scent and, honestly, the fact that these products are made with plants and herbs from the icelandic countryside as well as the pristine glacial water. whenever i use these products now, it takes me back to those smells and images (like in the banner image at the top) of the sweeping landscapes, deep gorges, hours spent laying in icelandic moss as a light rain started to fall, or traipsing through the long grasses on the way to glacier or waterfall hunt. anything that i use almost daily that brings back those memories and feelings is absolutely worth it!
the main takeaway here is that all of these are everyday things you will eat, look at, use, or see everyday. i think those, far and away, make the best souvenirs, regardless of price tag.
what do you tend to buy the most when you go on a trip or holiday? anything i’m missing?
ps, you might like how i travel often on a teacher’s budget or unique czech gift ideas.
