5. How far is your OC willing to go to get what they want?

Ace: The most likely to go as far as it takes in the moment, and then regret it afterwards. He’s very emotion-driven, so he barrels through obstacles, but does have moments after the fact where he regrets some choices. He’s drawn the line at murder, but it’s not off the table if people get in his way. His biggest hurdle is going to be Chen if things go south…

Erin: She’s a terrible villain, honestly. She’s just not cut out for it (never really lost her hero urges). She doesn’t like hurting people most of the time, she won’t kill innocents or other heroes. Push come to shove, she’s the most likely to sacrifice her own wants to help others.

Wren: Draws the line at outright murder, but anything below that is fair game in her eyes. She’s only gotten this far and survived this long by being willing to push through, doing things she wouldn’t have done before Heartbreak.

18. is your OC more cold and detached, or up close and personal?

Ace: Absolutely up close and personal with pretty much everything. Refusing to back down with Chen, expecting to call his bluff in the alley. Jumping headfirst into fights and chaos. He’s impulsive and has a drive to prove himself.

Erin: She likes to think she’s cold and detached from the world, but is leaning a lot more towards up close and personal. Despite being a tactician, she’s usually flinging herself into trouble (hello self-destructive tendencies!)

Wren: Of the three, she’s the one skewed closer to cold and detached. Removing herself emotionally is how she’s learned to cope with -easier to bury everything under ten layers then process emotions. She also doesn’t like fighting, she doesn’t get the same rush the other two get, so she doesn’t see a problem with keeping at a distance.

WIP its-not-Wednesday-but-close-enough

tagged by @autistic-sidestep! thank you for the tag :D i have,,, so many wips rn. pulp stop starting a million projects challenge. all of these are very rough, and a lot of them feature other steps, but i wanted to share a few :]

for writing, ive got these:

“What the hell, man!” Mitchel hisses. He’s let go, but he hasn’t bothered lowering his voice. Too loud, but real. Caine groans, pulling themselves up from the mattress. At least it wasn’t the floor– this could’ve hurt a lot worse. They wince at the throb in their shoulder as they reach for the wall, probing for a light switch. When he flicks it on reality re-establishes itself once more. It’s Caine’s room, familiarly bare-bones. There’s only a singular twin sized bed in one corner of the room and a desk just across, with a heap of laundry they haven’t bothered to do taking up the chair. Mitchel stands on the mattress in the middle, both parts pissed and bleary eyed. His cheek is a lightish colour that’s a telltale sign it’s going to bruise, and a portion of his blanket stubbornly clings onto his shoulder. There’s no threat in here, or at least nothing more threatening than Mitchel annoyed. The knowledge doesn’t stop the blood pounding in their ears.

-caine wakes up and gets jumpscared by @hyper-pixels mitchel. they react to this calmly.

Marshal Steel has hair stuck in his finger joints. That's the first thing Daniel noticed when he came in to work this morning. Steel has his civilian hands on, which is normal when he has admin work. Those civilian hands will usually have hair in it too, mostly from Spoon. That's also normal. What's not normal is the colour; because instead of the odd tufts of grey fur Daniel's used to seeing scattering Steel's joints, this is a single, longer strand that he's sure wasn't left on purpose. Because the hair strand is brown. Suspiciously similar to Ortega's own brown hair.

-herald is suspicious that his boss is having another secret relationship with a pretty old man, but its none of his business! not at all. thats why hes eavesdropping on them from the breakroom pantry.

“What are you two talking about?” Ortega jerks, nearly spilling coffee all over Wei, tearing a curse out of him as he yanks his head to the direction of the voice. Speak of the devil. Caine glances between the two, head cocked. When did he get here? Ortega doesn't remember inviting him, and nobody told him he was coming either. Not that Ortega isn't happy to see him, but the timing… “Dios mio, Spot, how long have you been standing there?” he mutters. He gives his coffee a once over, but nothing's spilled. He turns back to Caine and double takes. The poor guy looks like he's just run a marathon– he's drenched in his own sweat. He's not wearing his raggedy sweater, for once. Instead, he's got a skintight suit with a simple white tee over it.

-a multi-pov fic featuring the same conversation, but told from the perspective of ortega, chen, and caine. trying to practice voices with it, and so far its been fun digging into each of them!

as for art wips:

-arde and vera based on the song "the villain i appear to be"! i actually made this today after playing the new revelations demo lmfao. i do not remember what arde looks like 😔 im so sorry ive done you a disservice

the next two have blood+mild gore in them, so im throwing them under the cut!

-mitchel painting i have yet to put down colours for that i am lovingly dubbing "cannibalism (NOT ROMANTIC)". chew it out with your teeth mitchel!!!!

Ahhh these were fun! Had to sit and think about them for a bit.

9. Do you have a specific lyric or quote which you associate with your OC?

Okay so I LOVE music related asks. For Ace, I’ve always associated ‘Risk, Risk, Risk’ by Jhariah to him. But two specific lyrics in particular:

“How can you say / just what I’m meant to be / So fast and I'm not scared to crash I'm gone”

The entire song revolves around the desire to change, and being willing to take risks to achieve your goals, which is in-line with Ace’s approach to life. This line in particular always stuck though because Ace has defined himself by carving himself into the man he wants to be. He refused to let the Farm break him, or go by what they were trying to force him to be. At this point he’s been to hell and back, and there’s very little he’s afraid of that he won’t face head-on with a grin.

23. What emotion is the hardest for your OC to process? How about express?

Ace:

Hardest emotion for him to process is probably calmness? Relaxation? He’s running at a mile a minute, giving everything his all 24/7, so he just…doesn’t understand how to stop and rest. He’s trapped in fight mode and hasn’t quite figured out how to let his guards down.

Hardest to express would be vulnerability. It’s not that he doesn’t have vulnerable moments, he just hasn’t figured out how to show those moments to others. He’s not really used to being seen, or somebody cutting through his overtly confident facade like Chen managed to do.

Erin:

Erin can’t process any kind of affection. She wasn’t shown it at the Farm, and even after her first escape, it felt like an entirely foreign concept. Either a ploy of some kind, or something with strings attached, and it’s overwhelming. Post second breakout from the Farm, this just got worse. She’s been hurt, and now she lashes out like a scared animal if somebody gets too close.

This means it’s almost impossible for her to properly express affection, either. She feels it, she just doesn’t know how to show it (which is why she either seems detached in her relationships, or gets attached to unhealthy degrees).

Wren (had to go to the Source (@soupyshrimps) for help with this one lol):

Wren would have the hardest time processing joy, or happiness. She’s been on the edge for so long that she doesn’t know how to be comfortable letting herself accept that things will be okay for the moment. She’s waiting for the next bad thing to happen.

She doesn’t really know how to express genuine remorse. She doesn’t like admitting that she’s wrong, so she struggles to show that she feels bad about anything she’s done.
