Conner Wayne is supposedly a distant relative of Bruce's. He met Tim a few times while Tim had been staying at Wayne Manor. He's accompanying Bruce to the funeral. These are the facts that Bruce had laid out, and Kon had memorized them well.

He hopes he won't have to use them at all, as he doesn't think he can handle it. Tim's father went for an open casket, which is all well and good, since the gas didn't seem to damage the outside. The boy lying in the casket looks perfectly fine, except for the fact that he's dead.

The eyes are closed, which is probably for the best, since that would only hammer home how dead he was, but Kon feels bitter about it. Even in death, he'd never gotten to look him in the eyes. There are pictures of Tim Drake lining the walls, a baby in his mother's arms, a little boy holding an action figure, an older boy dressed for a middle school graduation. They all have bright eyes.

Kon can't show an excess of grief. Bruce had given a whole speech before they left about an acceptable amount of emotion to show. Conner may have known Tim, but he didn't know him well enough to break down at his funeral.

It felt blatantly untrue. Kon knew Tim. Well, he'd known Robin, which was mostly the same thing. Except it wasn't. Kon knew the leader, the bossy, stubborn, independent Wonder Boy. Rob recorded his show for him. Rob yelled at him when he did something reckless in the field. Rob always had to be right. Kon had never met Tim Drake, who by all accounts was a bright, personable young man. He could be a bit of a dork himself, judging by the photos and stories his friends were telling, but he wasn't much like the guy Kon knew as Robin.

They were the same boy. Tim had just had to hide, from both sides. Kon wished he could have met Tim.

Tim's father keeps his wheelchair next to the casket, so when Bruce goes up to say his condolences and Kon follows, he comes face-to-face with the man Tim had given his life for. They don't look too much alike. They have the same dark hair, and there's something in the set of the eyes that makes Kon see Tim forty years from now. Tim will never reach forty years from now.

"Conner met Tim a few times," Bruce is saying. "He had to express how sorry he was."

"Yeah," Kon says absently. "I'm... I'm sorry. He seemed like a nice guy. I wanted to see him again the next time I visited."

Tim's father doesn't really smile, but he nods. "If only Robin had saved him instead of me," he says.

"If only," Kon thinks, hating this man for something Tim had done. He can't say it. He stays quiet.

A Time Like No Other

Chapter 2

As they all stood outside the hotel, Misun located her phone so she could get an Uber for herself and Nori. “Where are we eating so I can schedule an uber to pick us up?” She asked them.

Shownu grabbed her phone away from her and locked it. “We have plenty of room in our vehicle. You just figure out where we're going to eat.”

Misun took her phone back and smiled slyly. “I'm sure you do but that won't be necessary. We can get an uber.” Misun has always been stubborn and the simple fact that she was standing in front of her ultimate bias wasn't going to change that aspect of her.

Nori pulled her away for a second. “What is wrong with you? This man is being so nice to us and you're kind of being rude, baby girl.”

“I'm not being rude, Nori. It's bad enough that you conned him into going to eat with us simply because he bumped into me. Accidents happen, a simple apology would've sufficed.” Misun responded. She had never had a lot of courage when it came to guys, especially ones that she liked.

“You could've broke something! This is serious, Misun.” Nori said with laughter.

Jooheon walked up slowly and tapped Nori on her shoulder. “I'm sorry to interrupt this pow wow but we're starving. Are you riding with us or what? We promise not to bite. . .unless you want us to”

Nori looked at Misun and nodded. “For sure! We're not from here either so whatever you choose will be fine!”

Jooheon walked back over to the guys.

“You're going to be fine. If it becomes too much for you to handle I'll pretend to be sick and we can leave. Okay?” Nori told Misun with a smile as they walked back over to the group hand in hand.

They finally decided on a Italian restaurant that they just so happened to pass by.

A young lady came to our table immediately. “Hello, I'm Amber and I'll be your server today. Can I start you off with drinks?”

Misun immediately spoke up. “I would like a water and a fruit sangria, please.”

Everyone's eyes widened.

“What?” Misun exclaimed. “If you all must know my nerves are very on edge so I need something to help me out.”

Shownu chuckled. “Well I'll have a beer then.” He glanced at Misun with a slight smile.

Everyone ordered their drinks and the server went on her way.

“Why does it seem like I've seen you two somewhere before?” I.M. asked in curiosity.  

Everyone nodded. “I've been staring at them wondering the same exact thing!” Kihyun followed.

Misun shook her head at Nori. “I doubt you've seen us before.”

The guys kept staring at them. “Maybe not but it feels like we have.” I.M. responded.

Nori wanted to spill the beans, I mean they had nothing to lose. If anything they had everything to gain from the guys knowing about their YouTube channel. “Misun you're gonna hate me for this but oh well. We actually have a YouTube vlog where we showcase different artists on it and most of them are K-pop and K-hip-hop artists. That may be where you know us from.” Nori mouthed 'sorry' to Misun.

Misun simply rolled her eyes a little but nodded her head with a smile.

“Y'all are RiMi? Misun and Nori? I knew you looked familiar but I wasn't for sure especially since she’s wearing the shades.” Shownu said as he pointed to Misun.

She had forgot that she still had them on to be honest. She wasn't trying to be rude. She wore glasses all the time so they were just apart of her.

Hyungwon tapped her shoulder lightly. “Why didn't you want us to know?”

“I don't know. I couldn't explain it even if I wanted to.” After Misun answered him the server came back to the table with their drinks. Misun was ecstatic because her nerves were taking over and she had lost all control. She took a long and slow sip from the black straw. “Whew that's good.”

Shownu kept smiling at her but she hadn't noticed a thing. “You feel better now?” He asked.

She blushed a bit with laughter. “Yes.”

Jooheon leaned towards Nori a little. “So what does it take to get an invite on your show?”

“What do you mean?” She replied. There wasn't a certain criteria that had to be met. They just invited idols that they knew would agree to being on the show.

“Exactly what I asked. We see a lot of idols on there but we've never been extended an invitation so what does it take?” He was so straight-forward.

Nori was beginning to blush now. “I don't know how to answer that. Misun help. . .please?”

Misun sighed. “Honestly, don't take this the wrong way but we tend to reach out to newer artist or artist that we know for a fact will agree to being on our show.”

“Why wouldn't we agree, though?” Shownu asked. He was in legit confusion.

Misun looked down at her drink for a moment and took a few more sips. “Y'all are big everywhere so we figured you wouldn't have time for a little YouTube Variety show.” She awkwardly laughed.

All of the guys eyes widened.

Nori felt bad at this point. “We're sorry. We don't mean to offend you guys. I wish I had never said who we are now.”

Everyone dwelled in the awkward silence.

“Well just so you know, we would've came. We're not like that.” Wonho broke the silence. This whole time he hadn't said a word so it put everyone in a shock.

“We actually enjoy your show. We think you should be bigger. We've even watched a few of your Vlogs when you don't have idols on it.” Jooheon revealed with a smile as he nudged Nori lightly.

They all finished eating their food. They were stuffed, Misun and Nori thought they ate a lot till they noticed the guys ordering appetizers and entrees. They must have truly been hungry.

The two managers came over to the table and told them that it was time to wrap it up since they had a fan sign to go to in a hour and a half.

Shownu gave his card to the server with their ticket.

“We need separate tickets. You put it all on the same one.” Misun stopped the server.

Shownu held his hand up to stop Misun from talking. “I got it!”

“No you don't!” She countered.

Nori's eyes widened. She knew this was going to happen. Misun was determined not to lose this argument.

“I'm sure it's hard for you to let people take care of you but it's okay every once in a while. I got it. Plus I owe you!” he told her with another one of his innocent smiles.

Misun scrunched her forehead a bit. “Owe me for what?”

“You allowed us to share this lunch date with you.” He said and waved the server off.

Misun couldn't work up any words for a response. It wasn't in her nature to just let people pay for her, he was far too kind. Especially when she had given him a pretty hard time and he didn't even know her or Nori.

The server came back with his receipt.

“At least let me put the tip down?” Misun asked him politely. It was probably the first time that day that she had been sincerely nice to him.

Shownu shook his head. “If I say no you're going to persist, aren’t you?”

“You're exactly right so you might as well let her!” Nori told him with a cute giggle.

Shownu simply nodded. “I hope to see you ladies again, soon!” he told them and the guys left the restaurant.

Nori burst into laughter out of nowhere.

Misun was so confused. “What the heck is your problem?” She asked her best friend.

“We just had an impromptu lunch with Monsta X! What are the odds? This will never happen again and we didn't even take the chance to Vlog with them!” She closed her eyes as she reminisced on the time they had spent.

Misun shook her head. “They're just normal people, Nori. Get it together.”

Nori cut her laughter off quickly. “yeah says the girl who was on edge the whole time we were with them. I seen how you were looking at Shownu!”

“Okay so he made me a little nervous. I'm sure that happens to every girl that meets them!”

Nori rubbed her hand. “It happened to you because you've been in love with him for like. . . .EVER!”

Misun rolled her eyes and put the tip down on the table. “let's go, the Uber is outside!”

A few hours later

Misun lied on her bed staring at their schedule for tomorrow. She sighed loudly.

Nori plopped on the bed beside her. “What's wrong? And don't say nothing because I know you like the back of my hand.”

Misun looked over at her then laid her head on her shoulder. “I'm thinking about today. It could've been so amazing but I was being such a b*tch.” She laughed out loud.

“But it was amazing, girl! We spent a few hours with our favorite K-pop group. Can't that be enough?”

Misun sighed again. “It should be enough but I just keep replaying everything and thinking about what I could've done better or just differently. You said it best, we're never gonna get this opportunity again!”

Nori raised up a bit with one of her sneaky grins on her face.

Misun cocked her head a little. “What's going on in that head of yours?”

“A little birdy may have slipped me their phone number while you weren't paying attention. . .” Nori revealed.

Misun jumped up off the bed. “You have Jooheon's phone number?” Misun was super excited for her bestie.

Nori handed Misun the napkin slowly.

Misun's eyes widened as she unfolded the napkin. It wasn't Jooheon's phone number at all. The name read Shownu. “Oh my! He likes you, girl! I mean I see why though, you're amazing in every aspect.”

Nori slapped Misun's leg. “Girl, think again! He gave it to me so I could give it you!”

BanG Dream! Favorite List - 2

I will be adapting someone else’s style and format for these lists as I thought it was a pretty neat way to do this.

It’s the start of 2020, we’re about two weeks away from the start of the third season and... I’ve already switched around some characters’ positioning on the list. And nothing would emphasize this more than...

Favorites

Aoba Moca (2, 1)

Yes, it finally happened! The #1 spot in my favorite list for the franchise has finally been stolen from Saaya’s hands. Moca, the girl who people have assumed is my favorite girl of the franchise since I first made my presence known in the fandom, is finally exactly that! It’s honestly not really what Moca did, it’s what Saaya didn’t do. Now to hope that the newest BlueFlora 4* (which is... ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!) will come home at some point... at least it is a perm.

Yamabuki Saaya (1, 2)

So... long story short... BanG Dream is a gacha game where we have to save up resources and hope and pray that we get the card we want. The one dream card we have been saving months for. ...yeah, Christmas Saaya will probably always haunt my nightmares. At least I still really love her as a character? And, hey... she has a chance to redeem herself in her next limited 4*?

So here is a fun one... I’ve been toying around with a multi-chapter story with Rinko (wink wink hint hint) and once I get past the new writing style I need to adapt for her conversations... she’s a really fun character to work with and use. And, for those who have been keeping track, you’ll notice I have published nine fanfics (and counting) of Rinko; the only BanG Dream girl I have written more stories for is Moca, at eleven. To emphasize that point even more: I’ve only written five fics for both Ran and Tsugumi; admittedly, multi-chaptered ones, so they feel like they have gotten more, but still. So, yeah... Rinko is a ton of fun and I thank @reiriniverse​ in particular for giving me all the ideas and opportunities to write more Rinko-centric stuff.

Uehara Himari (6, 7)

Himari only dropped because Rinko took her place, but I don’t have any other reason to put her one step lower. She’s still the same old Hii-chan as ever~.

Udagawa Tomoe (8, 8)

Tomato-chin is as amazing as ever. Also, for those who might be wondering why I started calling Tomoe “Tomato-chin”: it came up in passing in a convo I had with a friend of mine of the possibility that Moca, who calls her “Tomo-chin”, sometimes jokingly introduces Tomoe as “Tomato-chin” and it has stuck ever since.

Maruyama Aya (9, 9)

While it does seem like she’s staying pretty static, Aya is actually slowly but surely starting to climb her way up the ladder thanks to the fact that she’s really shining in the new songs.

Wakamiya Eve (11, 10)

Another slight jump, this time for our Bushido-loving gal. All I can say is that the new cards in JP are really doing Eve justice; they are amazing. No, I do not play JP but I do check out the new cards from time to time.

Okusawa Misaki (10, 11)

...being in Hello, Happy World is really a bad thing for her. She’s a really fun character, but with HaroHapi being, well... HaroHapi, everything starts to become slightly monotone in a way. I’m sure people who don’t like Afterglow would say the same thing about Afterglow, but that just shows how much I like the band that has the sole person in the Very Bottom tier in it.

Asahi Rokka (12, 12)

Nothing really new for RAS, for better or for worse, as they’re not in the game yet (or... I don’t think they are) except for a couple of awesome songs. Until we get S3 she’ll probably stay here unless something happens to those around her.

Tsurumaki Kokoro (16, 15)

For now... she, too, has gotten a lot of good cards (the vocalist bias on the developer’s side is real) and that Nico x Nico original song that came out is an absolute bop and easily my fave song of the band, but... we’ll see how long she can outshine the ones around her.

Hikawa Sayo (17, 16)

I still stand by my stance that her immense amount of character growth and development has almost effectively changed who Sayo is on a basic level, but... I can find things to enjoy about the new Sayo as well. Sayo is still really weird to place, though, because I have to consider both old!Sayo and new!Sayo for this. More so than for the others because of all the growth she went through...

Ichigaya Arisa (15, 17)

Like Himari, Arisa didn’t really “drop”... the two below her from the previous entry just shot past her.

Udagawa Ako (19, 18)

While I am still of the opinion that Ako got affected really badly by the two Roselia seiyuu switches, I just... Sakuragawa Megu is just too much fun to drag her character down too much ^^’

Hanazono Tae (18, 19)

Dropping mainly because of the problem I had with her in the previous entry: she’s rather static. Here’s to hoping S3 can be nice to our rabbit-loving gal.

Wakana “LAYER” Rei (25, 20)

Now here is an interesting entry who jumped quite a bit, and I can explain the jump with one sentence: RAS has blown my expectations out of the water. We’ve received a handful of RAS songs since they first started up, and for all the songs they have gotten in their first year-and-a-half or so (when were they first performing? I found records from May 2018 but... eh, whatever) they have... honestly not disappointed me even once. And when a band does well, the vocalist bias means a big part of the attention goes to the singer. Let’s hope S3 can piggyback off RAS’s hype and give LAYER some much-needed growth and development.

Satou “MASKING” Masuki (20, 21)

Same as Rokka, CHU2, and Pareo before her.

Shirasagi Chisato (22, 22)

While she’s still 22nd, she’s jumped up from “above neutral” to the bottom of the “likes”. Like Kokoro and Eve before her, the Chisato cards have been really amazing.

Hikawa Hina (24, 23)

Hina still has the problem that she gets compared to and related to Sayo so much (for, admittedly, obvious reasons), but her cards have, too, been really good.

Toyama Kasumi (26, 24)

Five words are more than enough to explain this small but significant jump: Only My Railgun Full Version. That cover might very well be the absolute best cover of that song that I have ever heard. And with Railgun being my favorite franchise, you can imagine how many covers of its iconic OP song I have checked out already. The fact that Poppin’ Party stood on stage performing this song live alongside fripSide is just... everything a Railgun and BanG Dream! fan would want in one performance and so much more.

Matsubara Kanon (23, 25)

Poor Kanon is the subject of being dropped to a lower rank because those below her skyrocketed above her.

Minato Yukina (21, 26)

How the mighty have fallen. Roselia has really fallen from grace, and with the Roselia songs that came out recently being... okay, “UNIONS” Road is all right, but generally speaking my interest in Roselia as a band has been wavering since... RAS was introduced, really. The cover songs... ironically, they chose songs from popular and well-known franchises that had quite the following, like No Game No Life, Re:Zero, and Steins;Gate... but I never got into those franchises so I can’t appreciate them as much as a fan of those franchises can. And unlike say... like RAS’s cover songs, which are also from franchises I never got into, I... don’t particularly enjoy any of the new Roselia songs, both original and cover songs. The recent Yukina cards are also... they’re not “bad” but they don’t leave me in awe and wanting to save months of resources just for them, either... so... neutral it is.
