once again getting a little emo about the scene where trent comes to richmond to ask to write a book. like. i wonder about the build up to that--i'm assuming he's the one who asked them, given they're so insistent on ted not accepting, so like. what courage did it take to reach out, knowing he likely wasn't welcome? was he banking on--or at least, dearly hoping--ted wanting him there? was he taking a leap of faith? or just a shot in the dark, not really expecting success? was he desperate now that he's unemployed, or did he have a backup plan? how did it feel to go alone into the belly of the beast, likely knowing--and even if not that, perhaps sensing--the hostility, even expected hostility, hostility he may feel is deserved, given the last time he would have been on their minds would be The Article? do they even know he lost his job? does he mention it? does he explain? i would assume they know (hence why he's here) and that he doesn't explain (they might be slightly more sympathetic or at least have a reaction) so what do they think happened there? i'm not even at the part i was feeling emo about when i began this post. like, i mean, going alone there, that was part of it, but like--i just. idk man. something about all of them--rebecca, higgins, and keeley, violently shaking their heads. trent's looking at ted, calm, hopeful--does he know they're probably silently shaking their heads, or is he solely focused on ted, or is he too nervous, or??--and like. what is ted thinking? he had that little talk with trent in the parking lot, sure, but not a proper talk, and like. the Article, his fondness for trent as a person, trent's proposal to work with him and write a book about them, like. what is he thinking?? he seems excited, and obviously he says yes (the way trent IMMEDIATELY perks up and smiles when he does, too, oh my god) but like. seeing the others shaking their heads and going against it--like that's basically his brand, the whole teamwork and bringing in "undesirable" people and genuinely making them part of the team, but like. idk man i'm rotating that. and rebecca, keeley, and higgins! what are they thinking! about trent's presence, his proposal, ted's easy agreement and trent's reaction, like!!! idk man i'm just spinning all of this
