this one was actually a lot harder than i anticipated it being. i love all my silly kids but i wasn’t really sure i had a favorite — except the more i think about it, the more i think maura is. making her was the last time i really gave my all to a character and the last time i created something without caring what anyone else thought about it. she was special. she still is.

maggie’s the newest, but i’ve been very delinquent in doing anything with her and i unfortunately don’t see that changing anytime soon. i’d like to come back to her someday. sorry maggie.

harper has existed in so many iterations over the last decade that it’s hard to even remember the moment that she came into being. she’s changed so much and become such a big part of me — she was my very first creative endeavor and she’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

— MEANEST OC.

before The Incident, at least. i don’t have a lot of truly cruel characters, but olly takes the cake more often than he probably means to. he’s no stranger to taking out his frustrations on the people he loves, and he’s selfish to his very core. if he’s angry, he will not hesitate to push your buttons even if you’re at your most vulnerable. he’s a user and a liar. he knows better.

definitely maura. she’s a sweetheart, a hopeless romantic and a relentless optimist in a world where none of those things serve a person very well. she’s seen horrible things and been a victim of even worse, but it never hardens her. the world wasn’t really meant for someone like maura, but she melts the pain around her with her softness.

mari’s having a weird time. she’s a nice person, deep down, but she harbors some serious resentment and self-hatred and it’s enough to make her come across like an asshole, even when she doesn’t really mean to.

the funny thing about mark is that he isn’t really very stupid at all. he’s a very particular brand of clever, even! except the brain cell isn’t firing on all cylinders. he’s got brains, but he doesn’t quite know how to use them to their fullest potential. the dumbass energy is unreal, even if it’s not entirely true.

lucy and harper are both smart as hell. harper’s got a ph.d in anthropology and she will bore you to tears if you make the mistake of asking her about it. lucy’s a computer whiz who worked in programming and software engineering before her life went down the proverbial drain. my smart, smart girls.

you're so hot. sorry about the horrors. you're the kind of person people immediately notice. whether you have a distinct style, are more outgoing, or are just plain beautiful, you make an impression. people usually feel the need to protect you, which probably frustrates you to no end. you're not weak! you're not fragile! you're not helpless! but the people in your life tend to disagree. maybe it's your lover, the protagonist, trying to keep you out of their own turmoil. maybe it's someone responsible for you in some way, keeping you away from your lover, while they head down an increasingly dark path. regardless, all you really want is a sense of autonomy! unfortunately, you're very likely to die before that happens. the audience will be so caught up in the grief your death causes the protagonist that they forget to grieve you as a person. you deserved better, but unfortunately this is not your story. maybe it should have been.

i can guarantee you've said "the trauma made me funny" at least once. out of all the archetypes, you're the easiest to read. your emotions, thoughts, and feelings are so obvious to see, but somehow no one sees it, right? you're too independent for your own good. you have a tendency to overshare or vent unwittingly, but you always backtrack and cover it up with some kind of flimsy excuse or joke. you want someone to see that you are hurting too, but that can't happen until you stop brushing everything off and letting yourself feel it. but you're probably scared of being vulnerable, aren't you?

i think you're pretty stubborn, which isnt always a bad thing. you probably tend to attach your value to your ability to help out; you feel worthless if you're not of use. you cant be strong all the time

Where was Marisol when Alejandro and Rudy meet Ghost and Soap?

imagine you’re rudy. you’re just some fucking guy, right? a scottish guy with terrible hair and a mountain with a skeleton mask on just stepped off a plane in front of you. weird, but stranger things have happened, right?

then you hear the helicopter. you look over your shoulder. you watch marisol, the woman who is essentially your adopted sister, and her second in command exit, and dread fills you as they come towards you and your new european friends. surely no, you think.

surely yes, the universe says.

“rudy,” you are greeted warmly. next to you, alejandro bristles. “quiubo?”

you are acutely unaware of how you respond, but you do respond, and you do know it sounds half-hearted.

you wait for all hell to break loose. it does — quietly.

“alejandro,” mari greets. her tone is clipped.

alejandro doesn’t say anything. you are afraid his hardened stare may actually bore a hole through the atmosphere just to the left of the scottish guy’s head. maybe it’ll fix his hair.

so now not only are you just some fucking guy standing in front of a scottish guy with terrible hair and a mountain with a skeleton mask on — you’re just some fucking guy standing in front of a scottish guy with terrible hair and a mountain with a skeleton mask on and you’re stuck between your sister and her ex-husband — who is also your commanding officer and oldest friend. but stranger things have happened. probably.

26. What is their ideal vacation spot?

OLIVER: The Holiday Inn about a half hour out of town, if his honeymoon with @corvosattano’s Lily is any indication. Jokes aside — he’s kind of a homebody, especially after he’s done with the military. He’s had enough sand in his boots and his mouth and his eyes for a lifetime, so beaches are a no-go, and he’s much more suited to a road trip across the country than anything else.

MARISOL: She’s packing a bag and heading to one of the quieter, less frequented beaches just outside of Las Almas. Mari loves sun and sand and she’s no stranger to sprawling out on a beach towel when she’s got nowhere else to be.

27. Favorite time of day?

OLIVER: Despite literally everything about him suggesting otherwise, he’s kind of a morning person. He spent so much of his adolescence and young adulthood working on his grandparents’ farm, which meant getting up well before sunrise, and then he enlists…which means the same thing. Early mornings just became a habit, and Olly finds there’s actually a lot more clarity in those quiet moments before the world comes alive.

MARISOL: My little night owl. Mari has a lot of trouble sleeping, so she’s often awake late into the night. It ends up being that she gets most of her work done when the rest of the world is asleep, and it’s also the time of day that she’s afforded the most opportunity for peace and quiet.

28. The perfect gift to give them?

OLIVER: Your attention. He’s a sponge for it, and he’d much rather someone focus their attentions on him than get any kind of physical present. It has the capacity to be one of his worst faults, but hey — at least he’s not materialistic. I guess.

MARISOL: A good bottle of tequila. If you’re lucky, she’ll share.

29. What is an item that they take everywhere with them?

OLIVER: His wedding ring. He still wears it, even after he and Lily divorce — on his finger, most of the time, but on the same chain as his dog tags for a while, too. Keeping it with him makes him feel like she’s still with him, even when she emphatically is not. Don’t tell anyone, but Olly credits it as the thing that keeps him alive when he very much should be dead after basically getting blown up.

MARISOL: This is actually the same for Mari — her wedding ring. My poor, divorced morons. Mari wears her on a chain around her neck that she keeps well hidden because the last thing she needs is for Alejandro to know that she’s still carrying a torch for him and that she regrets every awful thing that ever happened between them. She doesn’t have feelings. She swears.

30. Sweet or savory food?

OLIVER: Savory — although he is a sucker for gummy bears.
