I can’t believe the hidden troll experiments turned out to be the Vacker legacy. It was hyped so much just for another ancient Vacker to get introduced with Fallon having nothing to do with it.

I know, right? I'm not as partial to Fallon, but when you think about Alvar, I'm like...this is what drove you to the extremes you went to? A really really old aunt you never talk to who used to live at your house experimented on trolls so you...ran away to join an immoral, unethical rebel organization...?

He kept saying Biana would understand once she saw their legacy for what it is, but he also said the trolls were as far as he got into his investigation. In which case, Biana has seen the same things he'd did. And she has not followed in his footsteps. So. Alvar are you sure you reacted proportional to the situation

He seems to be trying to justify his reaction with reasons that aren't quite all of it. He cites the trolls, he claims there's probably more dark things in their family history--which is probably true, but he doesn't actually know anything about them. He's fabricating potential evidence in his head. And none of this has anything to do with his immediate family

I suspect the root cause of a lot of his motivation is irrational jealousy and spite against his father and brother that he's convinced himself is justified and fair. And he's covering it up--but it can only cover up so much; there are holes

Anyway, we seem to be exploring the trolls more in recent books, so perhaps we'll expand more upon the Vacker legacy. Because what we know doesn't seem proportionate to the hype we built, so that story may not be done

Oh wait. A quirk that makes people disinterested in you and indifferent. Over the internet, on text, everything is fine. But as soon as they look at you in person or hear you that's when it affects them. You could tell them you found a terminal illness, have a week to live, and your house burned down; and their response will be like "ok" and they move on. Because with that quirk affecting them, they are literally just incapable of caring about you. And that's if they even turn to listen to you in the first place.

Hawks getting hit with this quirk during patrol and not knowing. He doesn't even consider it because the first people he sees after patrol are Commission workers and nothing is different with them than any other day.

I'm thinking about Hawks, a very very upset Hawks, going to the League of Villains to tell them the Commission scheduled a surgery to "fix" his vocal chords. Thinking about the League of Villains just staring at him for a second before shrugging it off and returning to what they were doing as Hawks just stands there frozen in shock and trying not to fall apart

It would be a lie to claim that he enjoyed receiving this letter. In fact, he would prefer not to. It would be easier to keep to his duties and pretend nothing ever happened between them.

It could be very elaborate and cruel manipulation to get him back on her side and shrug off the murder. Shrug off finding justice for his old colleague and his family. But it didn't seem like it was...
