Its been a expensive week so far but one of the big offenders was a brand new cage! There was rust on the other one so I had to move on but this one has bigger bars then usual, so ive had to use pieces of the old cage to temporarily block off problem areas.
Stripe has escaped some time during the night and I found her sitting contently on the floor, and twice more while I was watching her in person. But i dont regret it because this cage is better for senior rats like my girls and its got plastic levels instead of the wire ones.
Ive also put in the treats with some mashed avocado and strawberry so all in all, a very sucessful makeover!

current set up for the baby boys! it will ofc be filled to the brim with more toys but this is what they’ll move into when they get home + a lot more fleecy burrowing things I have at home :))
the cage is an All Living Things 28x17x30 which I think will be great for two little guys to run around in. the cage itself is sturdy and easy to assemble, but the levels don’t snap onto the cage, they kinda just float around in the bars which I’ll have to fix if it becomes a problem.
super open to tips from experienced owners! i did a heck ton of research but I’m always ready to learn. - kendal, your local ratty sapphic
