Studyblr Community Challenge
I think it’s a testament to the “welcome to my trash can” line in my introduction that I wasn’t aware of this challenge before I was tagged (thanks @softcroft!). I didn’t start this blog as a studyblr, so I’m not as engrossed in the community as others, BUT I do want to be a presence! And hopefully a resource to anyone that feels that I inspire them. So I’m going to try and keep up with this challenge throughout the rest of the month, and I’ll start by going through all three prompts below. Thanks for following along :)
Day 1: Introduce yourself and tell us what you study
Hi! I’m EJ, and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in physiology. I started my second official year in the program this fall, but have been back in school for over a year and a half because I took a couple of courses as a non-degree seeking student as I was applying to grad school. I plan to take it slow and graduate next December. I have a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, and I hope to one day go to medical school.
Day 2: Explain your URL
My very first URL was a-story-of-the-girl, as a play on words to “the story of a girl”. I think there were various iterations before it eventually became astoryofthegirl, but that was too long winded, and then made it astoryofej because the whole theme of my blog since I started has been this is my story, told my way. (I’m the most open on here than anywhere else because I have maintained semi-anonymous, and I like that I have been able to do that.)
Day 3: Why did you create your studyblr?
So as I said above, I didn’t start this blog as a studyblr, but over the years I’ve become a peripheral part of the community.
I actually joined tumblr because of one direction (2010/2011 maybe? can’t actually remember), but it’s always kinda been its own trash can lol. I have used it as my journal during the years it’s been active. I kept it active until 2014 maybe? Then stopped for whatever reason, I’m actually not sure why I stopped. But I got back on in 2017 because I started watching The 100 and realized how much I missed fandom and got back into fan fiction. I graduated college in 2017 and started working, so there wasn’t really much of a studyblr aspect to it then either. I definitely journaled a lot, tho, complained about work. OH I have used it since the beginning as a peripheral runblr, lol I forgot that extended all the way from high school. But anyway, I started posting about school stuff again once I decided I wanted to go to medical school. If you’re really curious, follow the #journal tag that I use, or #ejspeaks. I’m not sure how far back the latter one goes, but the journal tag goes back v far.
So I guess to answer the original question, I “created” the studyblr portion of my blog because I was going back to school and I was really happy about that, and wanted to express that. And now I’ve found and followed a lot really cool and inspiring people. :)
