My favourite tops from SS/23 shows
I thought it was important to analyse the current runway in order to make my garment modern and in trend yet still completely unique. Unique and statement pieces are an upcoming trend themselves in modern society and the fashion industry with the rise of sustainability and reselling platforms.
Here are some of my favourite pieces from the current runway-

Gender-bending looks from Paris Fashion Week Men’s SS 23
The recently concluded Paris Fashion Week Men’s SS 23 proved a point that there is a lot happening in menswear that we haven’t been able to keep up with. From Tom Browne to Celine and Loewe, every label had a lot more to offer than the usual and the designers reinvigorated menswear silhouettes with newer cuts and styles that were gender-bending. Take a look.

Gucci Might Settle Their Tax Evasion Case Out of Court
Last year, when Business of Fashion reported that Kering, the parent company of Gucci, would likely face trial for tax evasion, jaws in the fashion world collectively dropped. Milan prosecutors alleged that Gucci owed Italian tax authorities €1.4 billion in unpaid taxes on revenue claimed between 2010 and 2016. This week, Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore reported that a settlement for the case might be on the horizon. WWD reports that, “If Kering does settle for that amount, it would be one of the biggest-ever settlements with the Italian tax authorities.” In 2014, Patrizio Bertelli and Miuccia Prada paid upwards of 400 million euros to settle a tax evasion case, which suggests the practice of fashion labels skimping taxes is relatively common practice within the industry. Sofia Richie to Launch an Extremely Kardashian-inspired Klothing Line
Sofia Richie, perhaps best known for lounging on a beach beside her paramour, Scott Disick, and his ex-wife Kourtney Kardashian, is bringing her entertainment industry pedigree to the fashion world. Richie’s new line, called Sofia Stone (after her middle name, natch), will be a 12-piece capsule collection all priced under $80USD. The only visual evidence of the line so far is one a fashion illustration depicting a paper doll dressed in a very skimpy early 2000s boob-tube top paired with wide leg trouser pants; looking almost identical to an outfit Kanye might dress Kim in. The collection will also include bodysuits, crop tops and suits. “I’m excited to shoot this collection and bring [my followers] these glamorous photos so they can fall in love with the clothes as much as I did,” Richie told WWD. Spoken like a true influencer. (WWD)

H&M Launches a Tool on their Website That Lets You See Where Clothing is Made
On April 23rd, H&M launched a ‘transparency layer’ on their website, which allows anyone online shopping to see interesting details about the garment including “production country, supplier names, factory names and addresses as well as the number of factory workers.” According to a press release, the brand claims that, “By sharing extended details on where our garments are made we make it easier for customers to make more informed choices when shopping.” H&M is positioning the move as a push in a more sustainable direction, however being honest about where and how products are manufactured is not the same thing as actually manufacturing items in a sustainable way. Lest we forget, H&M is still the same company that the New York Times reported has $4.3 billion dollars worth of unsold product. Now that they’re so committed to ‘transparency’, they might want to start tackling their overproduction of goods. (Press release)

Asics are…Cool Now?
Asics, aka the extremely dadcore running shoe brand known for their gel sole technology, has launched a new collaboration with Vivienne Westwood. The blood red sneakers feature Asics signature (swipe) logo with a small Vivienne Westwood orb logo adorning the heel. Though Asics tend to be prized for their performance over their appearance, the chunky, cartoonish sole is right on trend. “Asics are brilliant technicians known for their expertise, they are the best in their field. We love the look of their trainers because they are form following function, which attracted us to this collaboration. We wanted to bring together fashion and function,” Andreas Kronthaler, Westwood’s husband and creative director of the brand toldWWD. Two sneaker styles (the red ss well as a white style) will launch on April 27th, with three more styles dropping in July. (WWD)
