Pentax Optio 230 2021-2023

I bought a camera on ebay in late 2021 in search for a camera with a CCD sensor that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. I can't tell you why cameras with those sensors cost so much but I can tell you that they produce some quality images. Maybe not in the eyes of a casual, but for those who like that 2000s digital look.

After finally getting the camera I realized I needed to buy an adapter for the camera so I can send the files onto my computer. It took awhile because I had bought one on ebay but the pins bent after accidentally putting the card in the wrong way. I still ended up using the camera where ever I went because I thought it was a fun camera to use.

Fast forward to late 2022, I finally decided to get a proper compactflash card reader for the Pentax Optio 230. It worked, and because of that I could finally move files onto my computer. I began using the camera everyday and realized CCD sensors do give better images than CMOS sensors from modern day cameras. Something about the colors and low megapixel count gave me something to appreciate with photography once again.

Guess it just reminded me of old phone cameras from the late 2000s and early 2010s. And around that time, I was very into taking pictures with just my cheap phone.

I made a whole new instagram for it because it felt right to start a new page for this new theme. My original instagram theme was to combine different styles of photography and put them onto one account however I felt like taking pictures with only the Pentax. It was not only fun and easy to use, but it was also easy to carry around with me and not feel like I'm being weighted down.

Unfortunately on 1/27/23 the camera fell out of my hoodie pocket and broke the camera battery door. It wasn't bad enough to where it wouldn't work but the double A batteries were pushing the door out, it was only a matter of time before the batteries pushed the door to the point the connectors couldn't send a signal to the camera to power on. I tried to fix it on my own I'm not sure what went wrong with fixing it and so now it is unable to power on.

It's a bit sad for me because I really did like that camera a lot, it made me appreciate a viewfinder more, see photography a lot differently, and also just generally speaking practice photography. Although the camera suffered a lot from camera shake and only having ISO 100 and 200 which is very disappointing but honestly can't be too mad at a 2002 digital point and shoot camera.

For now I wait for next digicam to arrive and hopefully bring me the same satisfaction as the Pentax.
