Episode 8-10: The vroom vroom show is a show about love and grief and learning about yourself and realizing that you can be loved and loved and build a family and build a home and how it feels to have that torn away but also how it feels to have to leave to save the future and the agony of loss and the fear that you can never be loved, that you will always be too much only to realize that the grief of your loss is enough to break people and, yes, his nickname is mama and he deserves that love and family.

It’s been 5 days since I first watched this and I can’t stop thinking about it. THIS IS LITERALLY ROTTING MY BRAIN. This moment right here, in my humble opinion, is the core of a/b/o. Smell, especially smelling your partner and enjoying their scent is just so so intimate to me. It’s one of my favorite parts of a/b/o. Like scenting and scent marking, and especially here when one character finds the scent of another so desiring they feel entranced.

Up until this point Babe has been cocky and sure about it everything. He puts up a dominant front. But the second he picks up Charlie’s scent his demeanor shifts. The way Pavel is able to showcase this vulnerability and desire in his face just makes me want to scream. ITS SO GOOD. THEIR DYNAMIC>>

THIS MOMENT SPECIFICALLY, you know in fanfics when one character buries their face in the crook of the other characters neck, PAVEL DID IT EXACTLY HOW I IMAGINED IT TO LOOK.

Once babe realizes how Charlie’s scent is different he allows himself to fully enjoy the moment. It’s a vast difference from how he was during his sexual encounter with the other alpha at the start of the episode.

In conclusion I love a/b/o , no matter how cringey and dumb it is at times. And to see tropes of a/b/o happen on screen portrayed so so perfectly makes me feral. I can’t wait to see what the next few episodes hold.

Kenta & Pete pt 2

From the very beginning of their relationship, Pete used his status to establish himself as Kenta's protector. This is not uncommon for people living with an abuser, and this is something that really strikes me as a key part of Pete's character. He uses his privilege to help people.

When Babe left Tony's house, he did so after finding out that Tony had been the reason behind Babe's family falling apart, that Tony was a saboteur rather than the benefactor he posed as. Babe didn't learn about the other children being sold until Charlie told him about it.

But Pete finds out while he is still living under Tony's roof, and that is what prompts him to leave. He doesn't confront Tony about it, he simply leaves. Because this is something that he can't just stand by and watch happen. This goes beyond shielding someone from punishment. His status as an enigma won't help, it won't end the cycle, so he leaves. And as we know, he spends the rest of his life building up the power he needs to put a stop to these children being sold off.

But Kenta, who must know Pete so well at this point, sees it coming and tries to stop him. For Kenta, Tony's house is his entire world. Tony is the one who gave him life.

He wasn't even allowed outside without permission. He doesn't have any privileges, he's there as a mere accessory to the needs of others.

He's been conditioned to believe that he owes everything to Tony. He is part of this house, and this is where he feels he belongs.

But if Pete leaves, he takes the only good thing in Kenta's life.

What goes unsaid is that rather than Tony being hurt by Pete’s actions, it’s Kenta who will be hurt if Pete leaves.

I don't know yet whether or not Pete reciprocated Kenta's feelings, but I do think that the kiss is told from Kenta's perspective, and I think Kenta took Pete's silence as rejection. So when Pete leaves, he appeals to their brotherly bond instead. We will no longer be phi and nong.

And in Kenta's eyes, it wasn't enough. He wasn't enough for Pete to stay. Pete left to save the others, when he had promised to protect Kenta.

And how much abuse has Kenta suffered since Pete left? To him, he was abandoned and betrayed.

But for Pete, he wanted Kenta to make a decision for himself. Kenta views himself as a tool, an accessory. Objects don't make decisions.

But Pete views him as a friend, as a good person. Kenta is not the object that Tony treats him as. He has wants and desires, he has feelings, and Pete wants Kenta to understand that.

Kenta wanted Pete to stay, and Pete wanted Kenta to leave, and it is tragedy that neither of these things happened. This is yet another example of broken family that Pit Babe has given us.

Kenta thinks it is too late for him to change, even if he is constantly being torn apart by the things he feels he must do, and by the abuse he continues to endure.

But Pete thinks it is never too late for someone to change. He still hasn't given up on Kenta, and how that must burn—to have someone believe in you when you have never believed in yourself.

Kenta has spent years repressing his reactions to everything that he has endured and witnessed and taken part in. He is putting everything into convincing himself that he doesn't care, that he can even kill his childhood love as long as it is for the one person who has given him purpose.

But he does care, he cares so much, and he is closer to his breaking point than we've ever seen him before.

“Is Babe very sad”

I know a lot of people are giving Charlie hate over this line — and, I get it, we the viewer, have seen how Babe looks and acts towards Charlie, we watched how broken Babe was when Charlie “died.”

But Charlie hasn’t seen that. Charlie, while he has seen how Babe acts towards him — certainly in private, he didn’t see Babe’s reaction. He doesn’t know that Babe treats him vastly different from previous relationships; beyond “lasting longer.” And remember, early on, everyone at the shop joked about “how long” Charlie would last. Not even Alan took the relationship seriously for what we can assume is weeks if not months.

Babe told Charlie that everyone “wants” something from him, and Charlie also acknowledged that he too wanted something from Babe — albeit a guise for Babe’s protection.

So why would Charlie think Babe would mourn him so fiercely?

On top of that, you have the inevitable mental and physical toll Charlie suffered while living at Tony’s — he was worthless, useless, a waste of time and money. He was given up on. Additionally, even if Charlie started to discover his powers while under that roof, him stealing others gifts would have only resulted in those children being treated poorly as well.

Charlie is a literal black hole to those around him — he “takes” and “can’t” give back.

He and Jeff are two sides of the same coin in that sense. Whereas Jeff can’t help but “know,” Charlie can’t help but “take.” Which I think is why they’ve clung together, why they’ve become brothers. Jeff, by virtue of his gift, knows Charlie means well — and Charlie can’t take that knowledge from him.

“Is Babe very sad?”

Does not have an obvious answer to Charlie, because why would Babe be sad? Babe has his senses back - he’s no longer bogged down by Charlie’s existence, his plan, his choices — he’s no longer in danger because of Charlie.

The idea that anyone, other than Jeff, might actually mourn for him has never crossed Charlie’s mind.

Babe was disappointed with him — Charlie waited until Babe won, before crashing his car — he knew it could mean his death. If not the crash, then the drugs — but it didn’t matter because he was finally giving back.

Jeff tells Charlie “I know you’re feeling just as sad” [as Babe] “but this was your plan,”

Charlie knew he’d be upset - knew he’d be sad - knew he’d feel gutted — but he hadn’t thought that Babe might feel the same way.

I absolutely understand why Babe would forgive Charlie so quickly. These two moments right here explains it perfectly:

Babe has spent almost his entire adult life feeling like he can’t love anyone. Feeling like he can’t, like he wasn’t worthy of that love, that he wasn’t worth it. He wanted someone who would love him uncondititionally and completely. Someone who would take care of him and not judge him. Then came Charlie. For all of Charlie’s flaws and lies, that is the one thing I don’t think I’ve ever doubted. Charlie loves Babe. He loves Babe so much but he also knows that if he tries to tell Babe who he is right away, Babe will reject him. Babe will, like he did at first, assume that it is all a part of Tony’s plan to get Babe back, to force him to go along with what Tony is planning.

With the foundation that their relationship has now, Babe knows that Charlie loves him. That everything he did, no matter how fucked up, was because he loved him. Charlie offers to die so that Babe will gets his senses back. I think that right there says a lot about how much Charlie loves Babe. How much Charlie loves period. He was even willing to lie to Tony on something easily fact checked. He lies and says he hasn’t seen Jeff. If Tony doesn’t know Jeff works at the garage I’d be very surprised. Charlie is so completely willing to put himself into harms ways for those that he loves. And Babe knows that.

So Babe forgives him. Babe forgives Charlie because Charlie disproves every single negative thing Babe has ever thought about his ability to love, about his ability to be loved. Babe is so starved for love, for touch, for someone to love him. Charlie gives it to him in spades, never stopping. Babe feels safe enough with Charlie to actually love him back. Something he has never done before, he’s never felt like he could.

This is also not so incidentally why I won’t get on the “Way might be a walking red flag but I’m color blinded” train. I have felt the exact same way Babe has felt before, something I still struggle with to this day. That kind of intense self loathing is tough to live with. Babe lived with his for years before Charlie. He never felt like could love anyone, and Way made him feel that. Way made him feel like he wasn’t worthy. It feels like an extremely fucked up version of “if I can’t have him no one can”. I do think it comes from Way also feeling similar to Babe, which is why I am still ultimately sympathetic to Way as a character, but the boy needs to step the fuck back from Babe and let the man live his life and be happy with Charlie. Babe has said so many times, including to his face, that he and Way could only ever be friends. Way just doesn’t seem willing to accept that, which a big yikes for me. Add the hypnosis on top of that and if this were in any other genre, I’d be voting for Way to get his head lopped off. Still I love Way is able to move on, whether that is with Pete or not. Hopefully his and Babe’s friendship will improve because of it.

So yeah, I don’t find it surprising at all that Babe is willing to forgive Charlie that easily. Charlie is everything he’s ever wanted on a silver platter. He was also willing to be completely honest with Babe as soon as Babe asked for honesty. He didn’t lie, he didn’t beat around the bush. He explained it all, point blank. He didn’t even lie about being the reason Babe lost his senses, even when he could have and it’s likely Babe would have never found out. Charlie proved that he does love Babe, genuinely and completely. He wants to protect Babe no matter what. He is willing to do anything. It’s exactly what Babe wants and what he needs. I have no doubt Babe will give back as good as he gets too.

This likely isn’t the end of the road for this discussion. I think they will revisit it eventually, though under what circumstances I can’t say. For now, Babe is willing to forgive him easily, because he loves Charlie and Charlie loves him. In the end, that’s all Babe wants and now that he is getting the chance, he’s going to grab it and hold on with both hands. He knows he can do that because he knows, down to his core, that Charlie will do the same for him.

It’s how the kids “raised” by Tony are all affected differently as adults.

Babe, who believes his life is only worthwhile because of his special senses and skills. Who pretends to not need love but is longing for it. Who thinks that he cannot be loved because he is unworthy of love.

Charlie, who believes his life is worth less than other people’s and would rather sacrifice himself than see others suffer. Who thinks he shouldn’t be loved because it will put the people who love him in danger.

Jeff, who believes his life threatens anyone who knows his abilities, so he keeps everyone at an arm’s length away. Who thinks he cannot be loved because it will only lead to hurt and frustration.

Pete, who managed to escape Tony’s grip, but is still entangled in his web. Who saved himself and is now desperate to help others do the same. Who hasn’t given love a chance because he’s still only relying on himself.

Way, who believes he can force love if he tries hard enough. Who never considers life beyond Tony’s influence because he doesn’t think such a future is possible. Who is desperate for love but doesn’t realize that he is already loved and surrounded by a family of his own.

Kenta, who believes that if he does everything Tony asks of him, he will be loved. Who doesn’t understand that a man like Tony does not love but only uses. Who has lived in exile for so long that he’s lost sight of love and only knows loyalty.

It’s how they are all survivors and how they learn through the course of the show what love is and what it isn’t. And that they are capable and deserving of love despite what they were taught as children.

It's Friday Sunday, and that means it's time for more omegaverse shenanigans. 🥳

Sadly, this will be my last Pit Babe novel commentary post for a while because the main story only has 25 chapters. But worry not! Apparently there's a few extra chapters and if anything significant happens you'll be the first to know (but don't be surprised if it's just chapter upon chapter of kinky sex - that's just how Daddy and Papa Charlie and Babe roll).

As for this part - expect major spoilers, shenanigans (both omegaverse and not), family reunions, family reunions... and fun card games. But more on that later.

For now, let's get back to Babe, who's apparently rich enough to own a white Ferrari. Show-off. He's currently on his way back to Khun Tony, and he's such a brat about it that he fools the guards into letting him through. Things escalate from there. Babe threatens to bring Tony to justice once and for all, to which Tony reacts with mild bemusement. He's no longer interested in Babe since he's lost his powers, and he even taunts him with Charlie's (supposed) death. No, Tony didn't want Charlie dead. He merely wanted to incapacitate him in order to bring him back home (because car accidents are such a precise science...). It's a pity that Charlie died but, really, at least he's free now. Or something.

This man must have stupid amounts of money to throw at all of his plans because, quite honestly, they're shit. Oh well, at least we know where Way learned his... well, unnecessarily long-winded (TEN YEARS!!) ways.

Babe has heard enough but sadly Kenta steps in before he can get his hands on Tony. This leads to more taunting and the appearance of Way, who casually slings Babe over his shoulder and forcibly removes him from the premises. Which leaves the guards like, "who tf even was that weirdo?" Oh, to be a guard in Khun Tony's employment...

Meanwhile, Charlie (alive and, uh, relatively well) is still busy having his stolen powers exorcised by Babe's long-lost dad (the real one this time). The more he uses a particular ability, the longer it takes to meditate out of him. No, seriously, Reval and Charlie are basically just sitting in a room mind-palacing the powers away. Apparently it's very draining.

They also talk about Charlie's guilt, and how he believes it's best to stay away from Babe as not to hurt him again. Sure, he could leave the final decision to Babe but even that, he fears, might be selfish of him as that leaves Babe with the burden of having to decide in the first place. No matter what he does, it will cause Babe both happiness and pain - just like when Charlie's initial selfishness brought him closer to Babe and then almost drove him away entirely. Charlie's mind is going in circles. He's so protective of Babe that he doesn't realise - no matter his intentions, no matter his inaction - he can't untangle himself from the hurt he's already caused and will cause going forward.

Oh, and by the way? That moment when Charlie "died" in the hospital and Babe thought he was getting his powers back and had to listen in on every excruciating detail of Charlie's body shutting down? Yeah, turns out that was Charlie causing (mass) hallucinations and slowing down his body functions. Poor Alan had to go identify Charlie's body in the morgue while Babe was in such a bad way that he basically stopped functioning.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: what the hell, Charlie, you positively traumatised the poor boy. Could you maybe have kicked the bucket a little less dramatically? Did you really have to enact all of Babe's worst nightmares to make it more convincing? Just because you mean well (and didn't do it over the span of TEN YEARS for weird omegaverse breeding purposes) doesn't make it all right.

But more on that later.

Babe has made his way to a safe house. There, he meets Pete - the oldest of Tony's sons and currently AWOL, same as Babe. Pete is adorable, all sunshine and puppies and right-hand man of a local mafia boss. Or something. Because, you see, Pete figured out early on that the only way to leave Tony was to seek the protection of someone even worse. So he started working with the mafia, as you do. Apparently, he's so good at his job that he's convinced them all to go straight. Now he's studying to become a doctor. Oh, and also planning Tony's demise by preparing a really effective presentation.

That's where Babe comes in. Him visiting Tony's mansion was all a distraction - a sleight of hand, if you will. Even though he complains about Way manhandling him (Pete offers to get him a masseuse for the pain) it was all part of their plan:

While Babe distracted the guards by making a big stink, Way snuck into Tony's evil room of plotting (or something) and stole all of his evil data. When he later dragged Babe outside, he used the opportunity to slip the data stick into his pocket. On it there's evidence of all of Tony's evil business transactions. It would be easy to give it to the police, but Pete cautions against it. The evidence would simply vanish - something that has apparently happened many times before. Instead, Pete plans to reveal all of Tony's evil deeds in a way that makes it impossible for anyone to ignore.

We cut to Charlie and Babe sharing a cute moment. Wait, what?

"I've never loved anyone this much before." Babe's voice was soft, as if he didn't really want to accept reality, but he couldn't help but share those feelings with [Charlie]. "I'm afraid that if I love you too much, it will make you uncomfortable. [...] I'm afraid I can't love you as well as you love me."

Is it a dream? A memory? A (shared) vision? Whatever it is, before Babe wakes up from it, he and Charlie share some fundamental truths about themselves. About how Babe doesn't really know how to act now that he's in a relationship because he's never been allowed to be in love. About how he feels vulnerable and unsure, afraid of taking too much instead of giving back. But Charlie reassures him that he likes Babe just the way he is. He feels very loved, and anyway, he's also never loved anyone before so it's not like he has any grounds for comparison.

Meanwhile, Charlie also just woke up. He's given away the last of his powers and he's very exhausted. Jeff is with him to keep him company. Outside, it's just stopped raining. The rain makes Charlie think of Babe because it accompanied them throughout their relationship: when they argued, when they fought, and when they first became boyfriends.

"And the first day you became a normal person, it also rained," Jeff added with a small smile [...]. "But you couldn't see it in time. Only I saw." "Yes, when I woke up, the rain had already stopped." "Maybe that's a good sign." "A good sign?" "Yes," the young man nodded lightly. "Because the rain has stopped. [...] The sky is clear now."

What is this? Allegory? In my omegaverse novel??

There's always been a shadow hanging over Charlie and Babe's relationship - heavy and dark like a rain cloud, constantly reminding them of their past, their powers and the lies it took for them to even meet. Charlie has worked hard to rid them of their powers, and Babe is busy taking action against Tony. Maybe honesty and trust are all that stand in the way of them getting their happily ever after...

Until then, all they have is last night's dream, because as it turns out Charlie shared Babe's vivid memory. Babe's powers were the last to get exorcised and perhaps it created a momentary psychic bond between them. You never know with these omegaverse x-men.

What follows is the moment we've all been waiting for: the grand finale. The Ides of... whatever month this is but I hope Khun Tony gets stabbed to death by all of his adopted children. Et tu Way!

Meanwhile, Khun Tony is throwing a party. And by party I mean a human trafficking auction where he sells off some of his beloved children to fellow rich people. Charming. Why bother with a plan at all? Why not set everything on fire?

Right, because Pete really, really wants everyone to see his presentation.

Currently, Babe is disguising himself as a waiter. We all know waiting (and retail) staff are invisible to most people so no one recognises him except for one lone guard who's so smitten that he asks Babe out on a date.

Pete is also in disguise while Way pretends to be a good son and accompanies Tony for some good old-fashioned evil mingling. Their plan is to disrupt the auction and reveal all of Tony's illegal machinations.

This is a very questionable idea because I don't know about you but if I was at an auction trying to buy a child I'd probably not care if the auctioneer was evil. I'd probably ask for a slice of the evil pie.

Just as Babe is about to set their plan in motion, he's interrupted by Kenta. Uh-oh.

But, much like Pete and Way, Kenta too has had enough of Tony and was just waiting for the perfect moment to act. He assures Babe that he won't interfere. In fact, it was him who let Way into Tony's evil room of plotting to gather all of the incriminating info on him. Et tu Kenta!

"About helping you guys, this is a personal matter. [...] I have a brain, I can think for myself, and I know what to do. [...] But not everyone has many choices. Especially me. I can't make the same choice as you. [...] So, this is the best I can do. [...] You can handle the rest yourself, right?"

And so, Kenta leaves this story (presumably with some of Tony's financial assets) never to be seen again. What a shame. Kim's existence in the series will hopefully fix this.

Meanwhile, the auction is about to begin. I mean, the... uh, fundraising for poor, underprivileged children who also happen to have powers. Everyone's delighted - except for the poor kids who are led on stage one by one and then sold off like priced cattle. The thought alone makes Babe sick. Would the same have happened to him if he hadn't run away that day (no Babe, I thought we had established that you'd have been part of the breeding program...)?

And now, after having watched episode 5 of the tv series, I wonder if this is where the plot will lead us in lieu of the omegaverse plot. Tony mentioned an auction. I wonder if his goal is to sell Babe (and any other of his adopted children) for profit.

Anyway.

Babe's thoughts are cut short by a guard patrolling in front of Pete and his hiding place. Babe decides to check things out but he's quickly overwhelmed by the much stronger guard. He starts choking Babe and things almost go from bad to worse until someone unexpected comes to Babe's rescue.

That someone is Charlie - and there's a short, sweet and intense reunion between them that proves all of his fears wrong:

"I'm sorry." "It's okay," Babe let go of the hug and immediately responded without stopping for a second, his palms framed the other man's cheeks, before kissing his entire face: his forehead, nose, cheeks and lips. "It's okay, Charlie. Really, it's okay." The beautiful alpha hugged the tall young man again while repeating "It's okay" over and over again until the listener felt guilty.

Well, that was easy. But more on that later.

Charlie, Babe and Pete quickly catch up and then join forces. Pete is amazed that Charlie gave up his powers to escape Tony's clutches, going so far as to even fake his death to protect his loved ones. He's also amazed that he'd even dare come here - powerless and without a nifty presentation.

(And also, how does this whole having no powers thing even work? Did Reval - and in turn Charlie when he stole Babe's powers - rewrite Charlie's whole dna? Because how else would that even affect Tony's evil breeding program? And why am I so concerned about the specifics of omegaverse shenanigans? For all I know none of these characters even know or care about dna.)

It's quickly decided - probably due to Charlie's lack of nifty presentations - that they'll continue following Pete's plan. But wait, where is Jeff? There's no way he'd have let Charlie come here on his own!

Back at the auction, another child is led onto the stage to be sold. It's none other than Jeff. The auction grinds to a halt while Tony attempts to save face. This leaves Jeff with enough time to introduce himself and his powers. His name is Jeff, he's a 20-year-old omega and he can see the future.

"In no more than ten minutes, everyone in this room will have the same future." Jeff looked around the room with a bright smile before saying his next sentence which made the entire meeting room fall silent. "That is, death." The little Omega smiled broadly as if his own prediction was very pleasant.

I love Jeff so much. Make them suffer!

He then adds that there's a bomb hidden in the building and it will go off if even one person attempts to leave. Who even needs nifty presentations when you've got... Oracle Omega (no seriously, this is what the novel - or rather, the machine translation - calls him. Maybe it's his code name).

Everyone is then forced to watch Pete's presentation. I really, really hope it looks something like this:

I'm not joking, it has talking cartoon dogs. Interactive talking cartoon dogs overlaid with incriminating voice files of Tony.

Turns out Tony's guests are okay with human trafficking and buying children but they draw the line at violence and murder embezzlement. Everyone is all shocked and clutching their pearls and secretly very glad that their names don't come up in this weird cartoon dog powerpoint presentation.

Tony's acting all cool until the cartoon dogs reveal that this presentation is broadcast live and for everyone to see - this includes live footage of the auction.

But it's never too late to fix your past mistakes so Tony draws his gun on Jeff because he would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling kids!

Luckily, Way quickly intervenes before Tony can fire his gun, but even though Tony's many guards are somewhat suspicious of a little guy with a bomb and someone who hypnotises people for a living, they're quickly overpowered. In the control room above, Charlie, Babe and Pete don't fare much better.

Everything seems lost until there's a loud crash.

It's Alan in a black supercar and he's crashed through the doors leading to the auction hall.

They're on the second floor (it is sadly later revealed that Alan didn't drive up the stairs - the car was already parked in front of the doors because this is what rich people do to impress other rich people, I guess).

But Alan isn't alone. He's brought several other racers, among them Six (Babe's old rival who was probably turned into either Kim or Winner in the series). Six is a powerful alpha who can cause mass hallucinations that are so strong that they're banned by law.

Yeah.

Tony's guards are going down!

Meanwhile, Tony has had enough. He locks down the whole mansion so no one can escape. Charlie, Babe and Pete make their way up to the roof because there might be a skylight without security doors. They have guns, the many guards have guns, but it's okay because this is where Pete enigma powers come in.

You see, Pete has super control over his whole body, meaning that he never misses a shot.

I guess this explains this bit in the series (except for the part where the arrows are all over the place). But also congrats to Way for his future boyfriend with amazing body control.

While Pete is busy being awesome, Charlie and Babe lament the fact that they're probably going to die here when there's so much sex still to be had. :((((

Things are looking dire indeed. They're surrounded and out of bullets. One of the guards takes aim at Babe but before the bullet can hit him Charlie intervenes by jumping into its path. Miraculously, he's okay.

But that's because a few steps away Way has also jumped into the bullet's path and it's hit him instead. Babe is in shock. He hates Way for what he's done but in a way he's still his best friend. While Alan unsuccessfully tries to stop the bleeding Babe comes closer:

"Babe…" Way's dry voice called out his name as soon as he knelt beside him. "This is all I can do." Babe was silent, he just stared at his former best friend's face, tears flowing silently, without him even realizing it. "I know whatever price I pay, it probably won't be enough. But this is all I can do." Way's voice is very soft, as light as his breath. "…. I'm sorry for being a friend like this.."

And then he dies. Babe is inconsolable, sobbing and tightly hugging Way's lifeless body. He's still angry with Way, and he'll never forgive him for what he's done, but he didn't want him to die.

They better change this whole part in the series or I'll riot. I watched Nut Supanut die once in Something in my Room and I still haven't recovered.

Their victory is overshadowed by Way's death. Tony is apprehended alive and taken into custody. His evil alpha trafficking and breeding program is no more.

A little while later, Charlie finds Babe sitting alone in the mansion's garden. They talk, and Charlie apologises once more for letting Babe believe that he was dead. If Babe wants him to, he will disappear from his life and even stop racing cars so that they'll never have to meet again. This is all he can do: give Babe the freedom to decide for himself. But Babe only asks him if he truly wants to leave, and of course Charlie doesn't. And that's that. Babe has made his choice. He has decided long ago that he wants Charlie in his life.

Their long-lasting painful lives ended in the garden of the mansion that raised them to grow up like caged animals, allowing them to meet and fall in love. Today, everything has ended. It ended with the falling rain washing away their blood stains, sweat and tears, as well as a sweet kiss that he had been thinking about for a long time, making him feel able to stand in the rain without feeling afraid.

Oh, the rain allegory (and also oh, the bad machine translation)!

The novel ends quietly with Way's funeral, eerily similar to Charlie's fake funeral a few weeks prior. It's attended by the same handful of people. Even the clothes they wear are the same (which is convenient, I guess, but also... ouch!). Despite his many wrongdoings, people loved Way - and this includes Babe. And as it turns out, it was Way who got rid of whoever caused Babe's racing accident. He never told anyone about it.

Babe stays behind with Charlie and mourns his friend. He recognises that his feelings of friendship and betrayal are both valid and important (and later on it's established that Babe actively works on processing his traumatic experiences with the help of mediaction and therapy - and you know, I really appreciate the novel's nuanced approach to a character's mental health. It's an incredibly rare thing to see in Thai BL and an even rarer thing in most kinky stories). He won't forgive Way but...

"In the next life, please be kind to me. Don't deceive me again [...} Be a good friend, idiot!"

Which is as much of a peace-offering as anyone can hope for - wishing to meet each other again in the next life under better circumstances. Negl, I teared up because it's such a bittersweet thing to say. 😭

Meanwhile, Alan and Jeff have gone ahead and are talking in the car. Their ending is vaguely romantic (with their growing relationship hopefully developing further in the bonus chapters) but for now, all Alan asks of Jeff is to accept him in his heart as his brother. Please, don't phi nong me, novel!

And because this is Pit Babe the novel, we get one last drawn out sex scene that consists of Charlie trying to cheer Babe up by suggesting a game of naughty cards. A bit like strip uno, I guess. Naturally, Babe wins, but Charlie is allowed to leave his glasses on - and wear nothing but an apron while he gives Babe the bestest and longest and absolutely mindblowing (yes, there's a lot of blowing too) dicking of his life. Babe, my man, enjoy. You truly deserve it.

The End.

No wait, the novel actually ends with Babe and Charlie racing again for this year's title of King of the Hollow. Charlie is very skilled now, and it's very close but I'm relieved to say that Babe's experience and talent isn't all for nothing and OF COURSE HE FUCKING WINS.

The End.

Hold on, wait. I forgot about the part where Charlie takes Babe to see Reval - his real father. And of course Babe forgives him and it's all very sweet and they live happily ever after.

THE END. For real this time. Except for the bonus chapters. And unless the mpreg happens there (I mean, Jeff and North are technically available...), that's it for the omegaverse shenanigans.

When I first started writing these commentary posts I never thought they'd become so detailed and long - or that people would actually be interested in reading them. Sorry. I just realized that if Charlie was kept away from all other Alphas he wouldn’t have known what his power was until he got out and started interacting with them. Meaning he was finally building community only to realize he was stealing their powers from them. He must have been so lonely not being able to have close relationships with anyone. Then he finally meets Babe & is intent on protecting him at all cost, but he didn’t plan on falling for him. So now the one thing that has kept him from connecting with others is the only thing keeping the one he loves safe. But it’s through deception. So deep down, Charlie is still lonely. The most upsetting part of this scene (and probably the whole ep) are these two looks:

Because the look on Jeff’s face? It’s hopeful and trusting. He has just the slightest ghost of a smile when he looks at Alan, he looks like he has full confidence that Alan is going to back him up, continue backing him up like he does at the start of this confrontation.

But the look on Alan’s face? It’s doubt. He looks at Jeff and he thinks maybe and he breaks eye contact, looks away just slightly, drops his gaze, because he wants to trust Jeff and he can see the hope in those eyes, but he’s unsure. And even if he chooses to trust Jeff, he’s team leader, how can he not side with his boys? How can he not support the majority, the boys he’s known the longest, the boys who’ve proven their loyalty to him and each other over years, and offer the resolution that most benefits the most amount of people?

How can he not choose the rational resolution, even if it requires squashing that hard-earned trust?

I felt like making a list of typical Omegaverse things that were shown in Pit Babe for those who aren't that familiar with the genre. So here it is ^^

Alphas have special abilities: Typically alphas possess an array of special abilities that sets them apart from betas and omegas. They're stronger, faster and smarter. In Babe's case, he seems to be a rarity even among alphas with his especially heightened senses.

Scent: Scent and pheromones are one of the key components of the A/B/O universe. They can tell someone if they have met a suitable partner, they indicate if an omega goes into heat and they also come in handy while facing an opponent. Babe is quite unusual, because he likes to make out with other alphas. However, the strong scent of another alpha, especially during arousal, kind of works like a repellent towards other alphas. Imagine being bombarded with a really unpleasant smell, doesn't sound so nice, right? So as a fellow alpha, Babe would either go into fight mode or take his leave. That's why he pushed that guy away in the beginning and complained about his smell. It's also why Babe is pleasantly surprised that Charlie doesn't seem to have pheromones at all!

An alpha's confidence: Babe is a cocky little shit and Charlie is relentless and confident in his own right. That is all XD

Going for the neck: Both Charlie and Babe kissed and nibbled the other's neck a lot. That's also pretty common for an omegaverse. The neck or shoulder is the place where an alpha usually bites his mate to mark them and stake his claim :)

I just cannot get over that we got a canon omegaverse show that is also an alpha4alpha main pairing where the much tougher and more masculine alpha is also basically a broody chicken desperate for any hint of affection and melts when he's called mama and that the major conflict of the show is that his evil adoptive father who has almost as many bonsai trees as adoptive sons wants to breed him and sells his ultimate alpha babies in secret auctions oh also his boyfriend is also an adopted alpha who steals his special alpha powers and then offers to die for him seconds after revealing this only to win him back seconds later by reminding him that he is, in fact, a babygirl.

Oh, and there's also multiple other pairings including a teen who can see the future and the absolutely ancient 30 year old uncle who owns the racing garage who breaks down his walls, a pair of complete chaos boys who wear neon colors and have never had a thought that they didn't voice in their entire lives and don't care, a long term best friend pining man who is about to go full betrayal because he's basically an alpha incel but also has a very handsome man already flirting with his depressed ass every time he goes to the bar and there's more adopted alphas who all have such daddy issues that no one will ever be able to help them.

... I love this show so much.

I’m back again with my Charlie/Pooh agenda. Because I know he had less than 10 mins of screen time but I felt his presence permeate the entire episode.

I keep thinking back to what he said to Babe at the end of episode 9, “The only reason I’m here is because of you”

It’s clear to see how Charlie brought purpose into Babe’s life, but no one really talks about how Babe did the same for Charlie. Although they both grew up in Tony’s household, Babe grew up in the spotlight, prized for his powers. Tony may not have cared for him, but he cared for his powers and for that he was never ignored.

Charlie grew up the complete opposite. He was always in the background, a fly on the wall. I didn’t read the novel and the show doesn’t shed much light on Charlie’s upbringing prior to entering Tony’s house. However, what if it’s just that Charlie didn’t have anything. He was most likely orphaned and trafficked before he was too young to form memories of his past life. He most likely didn’t have any siblings. And growing up not presenting any powers made him invisible.

He has never had anyone care for him, not even Tony. Even after discovering his powers, Tony lets him go. And he feels his life has no purpose, that is until Babe. When he hears of Babe, his natural instincts to care and help spark. This is what he was meant to do. To Charlie providing is what gives him purpose, even if that means at the cost of his own life.

That first day Charlie encountered Babe, he had no idea what to expect or what exactly he would have to do to warn Babe. That’s why he’s so shocked by Babe wanting to fuck him. He agrees for Babe’s sake. Even their first sexual encounter is Charlie caring for Babe’s safety and future. What Charlie didn’t expect was to fall in love with Babe in the process. Neither of them did.

But to Charlie, loving Babe comes as easy as breathing. He welcomes Babe into his life, and it gives his life a meaning. He wants to hold Babe and feed him and kiss him and maybe a small part of him longs for a future. But Charlie doesn’t think of himself. He thinks of Babe.

When he takes Babe’s powers away he’s completely willing to give it back it it means Babe will be happy and content.

Charlie is the literal definition of I will die for you because I love. His emotions in the beginning of episode of 10, broke me.

Even when he is willingly getting into a car that will lead to his “death” all Charlie is thinking about is Babe. He has so much he wants to say, but he can’t. He wants to protect Babe from any harm and he feel this is the only way he can.

In Charlie’s life he has two people. Babe and Jeff. He is willing to go to the ends of the world for them, that’s just the way he is.

Pooh plays his character so beautifully. I’ve talked about this so many times but his eyes are so expressive. His last look at Babe before crashing was full with anguish and a hint of guilt. He has to hurt the person he loves to save him. That is such an incredible sacrifice to make.

The scene with Dean in the garage fucking broke something in me. First of all I have to shout out Lee for his performance because when he was monologuing at Babe after attacking him, his screams gave me chills. 10/10 fall from grace.

But Alan oh my god ALAN

The look on his face at the mere thought of another person he loves being destroyed by Tony. “Why don’t you learn from Babe and Way?” Haven’t you seen what that man will do? How could you do this to yourself?

It’s the way you can see both of their hearts breaking. Alan has tried his best to be a father figure to all of these men but his family is being torn apart. He’s not just angry at Dean—he is filled with grief, and yet he loves Dean even still, and he feels like he has failed him.

And the way Dean begs North to let him go after Alan embraces him. He wanted Alan to hit him again because he’d convinced himself that Alan never really cared. But now he has to face the fact that he’s betrayed someone who truly loved him as family, and it hurts. It hurts to be faced with love when you have turned yourself into a monster.

Ppl not watching Pit Babe assume all of our psychic damage comes from the mpreg but the real damage comes from the family we lost along the way.

Babe and Charlie’s reunion

I know a lot of people have advocated domestic violence… oh wait, you don’t think Babe beating Charlie is DV oh… okay…. *scowls in sarcasm*

Anyway, I know a lot of people want Babe to be exceedingly angry at Charlie, and to not forgive him for what he’s done. But that reaction would go against Babe’s character.

Charlie has become literally and figuratively everything for Babe.

Unconditional support, unconditional love, a person who never stopped trying to care for Babe regardless of how Babe treated him.

Because remember, Babe was an asshole early on to Charlie. Getting jealous without asking questions. Accusing him without asking questions. Saying means things, being harsh. (And yes, this was mostly Way’s influence).

Yet regardless of that, Charlie stayed. Because Charlie’s only (internal and personal) purpose in life is to protect and care for Babe.

Now Babe might not like that. He might not like how willing Charlie is to sacrifice himself. He might want it to be more balanced or more nuanced, but regardless, Charlie’s only purpose is to protect and care for Babe.

And Babe knows this - he knows how he’s treated Charlie - he knows that he overreacted just before the accident.

And Babe regrets it. He regrets how he acted and the things he said, he regretted them the moment the accident happened. And worse, he’s lived in that regret for at least a couple weeks.

For Babe any anger he might feel towards Charlie, will easily going to be overshadowed by the sheer feelings of gratefulness, wonder, disbelief, affection, and hope. he is not going to care much about the event and solely focus on having Charlie back and Charlie’s safety.

I think that’s why in the preview we saw him protect Charlie three times - in like 15-30, he protected Charlie multiple times in that clip.

Babe is not the same person he was before Charlie’s accident. The person he is now, recognizes how fleeting life is, and how important Charlie is to him. He is going to live the rest of his life, making sure Charlie knows that. And it’s going to start the second they are reunited.

I went into Pit Babe with the same low expectations that I got into any bl with. Expecting a somewhat light hearted vroom vroom racing bl.

I came having discovered it’s not only a vroom vroom omegaverse bl but that at it’s core, Pit Babe is a show about a found family comprised of broken people trying to heal from their trauma and make their way in the world. Trying to learn to trust each other and love each other. They all accept who everyone else is without reservations. They quite literally accept a several strangers into their family even though they don’t know anything about them. One of whom even used to work for their enemy.

At the centre of the family is Babe. A man who is traumatized and broken. Who hides his wants and needs under “PitBabe”, under the bravado that is needed for such a title. But underneath is a man who just wants to be loved, who has such an amazing capacity for love and forgives with no way for it to go because he is too scared to open up to people. Until he meets Charlie, who is equally traumatized and broken but in a completely different way. Both of them suffered under the weight of growing up in Tony’s house. Each on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of how they were treated. Babe was the boy Tony stopped at nothing to get, destroying Babe’s and his father’s lives in order to get him. Charlie was brought in and immediately was a disappointment because his abilities were not immediately on display.

Still the two find each other. Charlie seeking Babe out because he wants to protect him at all costs. He truly believes that Babe can live without him and still he loves Babe anyway. He wants Babe to experiences his love because it’s all he truly has to give him. Babe takes this love and gives it back tenfold. Babe forgives him for his fucking up and his weird bad plans because Charlie makes him feel something that he hasn’t felt before. Charlie makes him feel safe. It is because he feels safe that he can finally let his persona, his walls down and allow himself to finally do something he has wanted to do for so long. He allows himself to love someone. He allows himself to fall in love with Charlie, if reluctantly at first. The two stick together after that, knowing each other and proving that they only barely live without the other. The show doesn’t use the word soulmate but I think this is a show that is a really good example of how well the soulmate trope can work if done correctly.

I just love CharlieBabe so much and I’m going to miss them so much.
