i love how after everything that has happened, he STILL somehow thinks people won't turn up to his gigs. what a guy

Here's the thing: he hasn't actually seen everything that's happened. He hasn't had time to take that all in.

Before UMK, some dozens or tens of people came to his shows and he has made fun of it, saying that his gigs never have a back row because there are so few people attending. He even organized a joke contest in his IG stories, and the winning one was along the lines "I don't like crowds, that's why I only go to Käärijä's gigs". Then after UMK his gigs were suddenly sold out, but most of them were still on small venues and nightclubs that could fit maybe a few hundred people. He got big hype before UMK and even bigger after winning that of course, but he really didn't have time to react to anything as he was doing as many shows as possible and doing hundreds of interviews and podcasts and challenge videos and what have you, and practicing singing and dancing and performing before leaving to Liverpool.

Then he was in Liverpool for two weeks without almost any time off, again every day filled with interviews and promotion videos and parties and rehearsals, and the hours he had off he didn't spend on social media but with Joker Out and other contestants, just to relieve the stress and pressure. So he wasn't in Finland, and he wasn't on social media that much, so he didn't see the actual craze that took over this country. Kids dressing in green and practicing Cha Cha Cha on music classes, stores running out of piña colada and Malibu and pineapple juice and everything green including grapes, all landmarks and statues in every city either dressed up in green boleros or lighted up with green lights, people dying their hair green and getting bowlcuts, people getting Käärijä tattoos, people sewing so many green boleros and other outfits that the biggest fabric store chain ran out of all green fabrics, people with green make-up and nails, the fan art everyone was making, even the government offices and political parties changing their logos Käärijä green on Instagram and Facebook, the support messages and posts, literally every store from clothing chains to grocery stores and art supply stores putting their neon green and pink stuff on display in the window - hell, even my local pet store had their neon green fluffy cat toys on the prime spot!

He said in an interview that he heard rumours of all that happened, but of course he hasn't seen it. He said that he has around 100.000 notifications unread and he won't have time until maybe autumn to start checking out what has actually happened this year.

When you think about it from his point of view, six months ago he was a broke-ass musician with a day job, living in a tiny apartment. Some dozens of people used to come to his shows, and then suddenly after Cha Cha Cha he was selling out venues, small ones, but still. Then he left for Eurovision with the single goal of winning, and he didn't achieve that, so he thought himself as a loser, that he had disappointed everyone who supported him. From his point of view he is still the same broke-ass musician living in a tiny flat, but now he's unemployed and Eurovision loser so even more of a failure. So why are there thousands of people suddenly coming to the shows and wanting to see him? Of course it would be baffling to him. He wasn't there when he became a national hero, and he doesn't yet understand that he is no longer a failed musician, he is an international phenomenon.

#I really hope his head can take all this #but he said that he is already planning to start therapy to deal with everything which is a great decision #I know UMK has their own therapist but this is so ridiculously huge #I said a couple of years ago that there hasn't been a craze like Blind Channel since Dingo fever in the 80's #but this is bigger than that #everyone knows who Käärijä is even if they are not on social media or didn't watch esc #this reminds me of how people acted when Lordi won #but we didn't have social media with billions of likes and shares and edits and dms and what have you #asks #käärijä

i want eiffel and minkowski to go camping together so bad, like i know minkowski loves camping. eiffel loves the idea of saying he's going camping. eiffel loves the romanticized pop culture version of camping he imagines in his brain, where he gets to listen to music by the fire and eat smores. eiffel wants to feel like a rugged outdoorsman but, like, with access to modern comforts.

minkowski is actually outdoorsy and likes some challenge, so to her "camping" means long hikes and roughing it as off-the-grid as she can justify. eiffel cannot be taken off grid. eiffel's favorite outdoor hobby is handing someone one of his handmade walkie talkies and being like, okay, stay here, i'm going to drive in that direction and see how far i can radio you from. eiffel is out there building stuff out of their camping equipment to see if he can pick up signals. but when he's actually supposed to set up his tent, he can not do it. maybe he lost some of the parts along the way, but he keeps making it worse, and even minkowski can't salvage it. then it starts pouring rain on them, because of course it does.

eiffel sleeps in the truck and cramps his neck up so badly, and when he wakes up minkowski gives him black coffee and trail mix for breakfast and he looks at it so despondently that she's like ugh, fine, nevermind. and they give up and get breakfast at denny's and go home. and eiffel is like oh thank god, hot water, indoor plumbing, my own bed, i'll never take this for granted again <- guy who spent literally one night in the woods, and also years stranded in space.

I think ishigami/miko were really good conceptually as a couple, they're really interesting foils with their approaches to justice, and the most compelling part of their dynamic is that these convictions constantly lead them to help each other out behind their backs. A rigid sense of morality and justice is the center of Miko's character, and this means she always does what the Right thing to do is- including standing up for someone she thinks is a pain in the ass. On the flip side, Ishigami doesn't care about rules or whatever but he cares a lot about people, and can't stand to see someone being treated unfairly and thinks this should be corrected. But both of them agree, maybe out of pride, that they don't need to be rewarded for their help, so they don't really say anything. Instead they just keep helping each other out, whether it's Ishigami protecting Miko from bullies, Miko protecting Ishigami from within the public morals committee, Ishigami convincing Miyuki to help Miko during the election (Albeit in a different way than he thought), or Miko convincing teachers not to hold him back during his suspension. All that stuff.

But since they don't KNOW about the stuff the other person has been doing for them, they also feel resentment because of their attitudes seeming so laissez faire, which is the real source of most of their bickering. Like, "ohh after all the shit that I've done for this motherfucker they're seriously going to be a pain in the ass again today I'm going to KILL them. But yes I'll also keep helping forever obviously." And ultimately this fits really well with the themes of Kaguya-Sama as a whole, being about open and honest communication. And how, just like Kaguya and Miyuki, all their relationship issues really stem from just Not Talking To Each Other without masks on.

It's a REALLY good set-up and I think it's executed fairly well too, but I also think that after a certain point it becomes over-developed with drama on Miko's end since she realizes her crush way before him. But somewhat under-developed on Ishigami's end due to the ending getting rushed (which ik is out of the story's control), because he went from being in love with Tsubame to Miko a bit too quick and it didn't get to feel as natural.

So I kinda understand the manga ending on the note of "Now they're going to go through their version of Kaguya and Miyuki's love story." I do. But it also feels like wasted potential that we didn't see the actual ending of their arcs and I wish the story didn't just get rushed like that. SAD!

#kaguya sama #and don't even get me started on how we were totally robbed of hayasaka/chika who kinda just got a lot of teasing crammed in at the end #even if it was setup from around the end of the ice arc we didn't get too much in between that and the last arc #and there was so much awesome potential there too but I've already talked about what Should Have Been #i still like my idea of kaguya being forced to help hayasaka get w chika (she did try a little)#so now she has to be on the receiving end of being a wingman for someone fucking impossible (that's karma)#meanwhile chika is the chaos element sabotage kaguyas plans again. but this time for her OWN romantic progress (karma again)#aka akasaka hire me.#but I'll reserve talking abt those two until i read the new ln #bc i have heard stuff

I really would like to start colouring them!#I have delightful colour schemes chosen...#gale/illamin piece has already been sketched in a notebook. once I finish these two- I will begin lining theirs!#illamin's connects to cadence's because they're intertwined like that. but I have yet to finish planning out cadence's piece.#I've gone back and forth on who I should romance with him...the thing with any of the companions is that they are all written to be-#-immensely compatible with each other. so writing a tav FOR a specific companion is a bit hard. often the tav could fit with any of them.#hell. I'm STILL working out details of jantar and corydalis' story & characters. because I can't be normal about this.#that aside- I DO have other. finished pieces...finally.#well. I had some long before... but I didn't want to post them because I wasn't happy with them.#so I went and finished new stuff that I DO like.#4. technically 5 drawings. all horror/horror adjacent in theme.#my extremely detailed hux painting is also NEARLY done. after months upon months of work.#and I continue to slowly chip away at the big scifi themed dbd piece I've had in progress.#I really never run out of things to draw and it's a bit torturous because I never have the time or energy to draw everything...

The seasonal depression + major life stress to agoraphobia relapse pipeline is kicking my ass

#the adhd & demand avoidance don’t help any either #I end up wanting to avoid responsibilities out of spite and bc I’m time blind I don’t even notice how many days I’ve gone without leaving #the house #by the time you add the actual depression and anxiety and trauma I’m already struggling #it’s gotten so hard to go to shabbat services on friday nights bc it’s dark at 4:30 and the temple is in the middle of downtown #in not the safest area and there’s almost no parking #(to be clear it’s not just anxiety or fear preventing me from going. it’s hard to want to go anywhere when it’s dark and cold for normal #human reasons)#but still #i hate being in a position where I feel like I have to assume the worst of other human beings #bc that’s just. not who I am. its incongruent with who I am to walk down the street and assume people are bad and want to hurt me #that’s not a judgement I’d ever want to make lightly #even if I’ve also always been hypervigilant (it’s complicated ig)#(really feel like my nervous system has just not been able to fully stabilize for the past six weeks. it’s already such a hard time of year #for me and with recent events on top of that…)#anyway. So @matrixbearer2024 story made me think back on the game called Mystic Messanger and was like "that but with the Hazbin characters."

Like, imagine this mysterious group chat opened with many sinners and demons and even angels just all together there and this one human that, for some reason, found their device with this new messaging app that they could not recognize.

They were lost and had no idea what was happening and who there people are but hey, their shocked reactions were pretty entertaining.

Of course, Alastor would be missing from this story's concept because... he would need a cellphone for that.

Anyway, so inside my head it would be with Lucifer (of course, my fave must be in there), Vox (because why not), Adam, Lute, and whoever else you'd want in this mess.

And like in the dating sim game, the characters would grow fond of the human over time.

But they're only allowed to talk through messages and maybe calls. They can also send pictures and audios through the app.

Video calls are not an option tho.

And since Mystic Messanger allows you to have private conversations, I would think that there is were they really bound with the human. Sharing private talks, maybe venting, knowing each other more. Just the human being there for them.

But it is an impossible crush they would have for the human since they are from different worlds.

Let's not dwell onto that since that wasn't my main focus of this story.

I wanted something more light hearted and cracked.

Imagine Vox and Lucifer bonding over their hatred for Alastor. Imagine Lucifer and Adam beefing on the main chat. Imagine Lute being her aggressive self, making the other characters be like "woah, chill."

Just a chaotic group chat with YOU, the human, as the whole spectator of this crazy group.
