May Be Well, 5.31.23
“June Day"
Finals racing passed the finish line to Friday
Summer bumming, humming passing grade ditties
Yesterday is as good as yesteryear with admission to pay
Festival is best of all within the bustling cities
Summer days, pass with plays of games aglow with sweat
Whet the whittled whistle of the worn-out canopy rester
Music in the grass, blued, and reeds blown on bet
Few more sunny long months before another semester
Will this pass? At last the graded grade is made
Report cards are hard to part with parental guardians
Checkmarks when they check marks for what was paid
Knowledge has no edge, like the coin made for eons
Another grade, another graduation, adulation or appreciation
One more day before week’s end to weekly tribulations

Before the Fall 6.24.23
“Hot Earred”
Strangers are whispering
Kiss the ring
Miss the thing, they want to say
Too busy talking, gawking to pay
Missed attention, got detention
Failed memory retention
Recall? If you will,
The burning in your ear
Hear the hush tones
Read the words written on your phones
Heed the thoughts inside of your head
Not the ones when you’re in bed
The wind is whispering
Tickling your sunlit ears
It too will pass beneath the coming cold front
And wake to fog and rain clouds
Ever watchful of lightning and funnel clouds
Not funnel cones
No broken funny bones
Let it burn, and words will fade
Like bonfire ashes
