do you even KNOW how much hate I got for writing Come Over Here and Profound for Me? where Penelope was guilt spiraling over all she did as LW? and people accused me of being a 'psychopath' and needing therapy (as if being in therapy is a. . .bad thing?) and being oh so unfair to Penelope because she was beating herself up a lot and her friends were hurt and betrayed?

and then we got the clip of her talking down to herself, about how embarrassing she is and how no one wants her and 'of course you wouldn't want to court me' and how sad he was about how lowly she sees herself.

how absolutely baffled I was over the narrative that every new male character would be a suitor for her? how little sense it made and how Penelope was for us unseen girlies and her being a diamond would be weird and ooc and unfulfilling?

and then it was revealed that Dankworth is Prudence's husband, and that Anderson is a hit with the older ladies, hinting he's there for Violet (as a continuation of her Queen Charlotte storyline) and that Debling is in a grand total of two episodes and that even Adjoa Andoh said the season was for the wallflowers.

how confused i was over monolithic 'Penelope is a girlboss and never did anything wrong!' narratives that happened over and over in our fandom and that Colin would grovel and beg and cry to be in Penelope's good graces again over one comment?

and then the clip came out and the person she was actually dragging was herself and the worst thing she called him was 'cruel' and just about one day later she's staring into his eyes and telling him how beautiful they are and how they shine when he's kind

how peeps insisted he'd be just fine when the truth comes out that Penelope is Lady Whistledown and that he'd find her clever or already knows or wouldn't be upset at all?

When I say I'm READY for Jealous Colin in Season 3, I don't mean feral, possessive, "this is mine and no one else can have it" toxic behavior. There is plenty of media with guys who puff out their chests to prove they're the alpha male. I'm not looking for that.

When I say Jealousy, I mean ENVIOUS Colin. I want him teaching Penelope how to find a suitor and subtly realizing it's how he's always wanted to be approached by a young lady. I need him noticing the way the sunlight shines on her skin, or feeling stumped at not being the book she holds in her hands. I need begrudging Colin to be grumpy and so SO Suprised that he wants a sliver of attention and compassion Penelope is giving her other suitors. I want him to be mad at himself, jealous even, that all the other men saw the beauty and witt in Penelope at first sight instead of the years it took for him to realize. Let him be an absolute simp for Penelope and through their "lessons" they both discover a greater sense of self-worth before they pursue a relationship.

You know...Penelope's canonical birthday?

Bridgerton's pattern for season 1 and 2 has been trailer releases roughly 6 and 2 weeks before the premiere date, but I could see them breaking this pattern and releasing the trailer on April 8th--5 weeks before the premiere date.

Polin-specific Mini Predictions

We know big things we can expect from the season ie: carriage, etc, but here are more minor things I thought up after the promo pics came out via Tudum.

Penelope will call out Colin for traveling to avoid things, but she will do it as Lady Whistledown in one of her papers.

Penelope's deep insecurities will be put on display in a fight with Colin. She will say something immensely horrible about herself in a way that hasn't been displayed on the show before & Colin will be caught off guard; it will eventually lead to some grand, romantic words from Colin to her that contradict Pen's negative thoughts about herself (not to automatically complete her own journey of seeing herself better, but for it to make it clear that Colin thinks the exact opposite of how she badly views herself).

There will be rain, MORE than once-1 will be a huge romantic scene, but 1 will be a casual scene & not that big a moment in the scheme of the season.

Colin will teach Penelope a dance during their lessons. Obviously they've danced together a number of times, but this time he will actually teach her a specific move or dance and tension will definitely occur.

Nicola narrating as LW will be integrated more. I'm expecting some powerful moments/dramatic scenes of Penelope fully standing in her identity as Whistledown.

Just had this thought (remembering Simone called this season "condensation central"): I feel like the obvious thought is rain, but idk I feel like there will be a shower moment once they are established as a couple (or married). Nothing crazy though-like a moment put into a montage; maybe a cute, casual occurrence that shows their life as a domestic couple (could also be something like this for Kanthony)

From revisiting season 1, it reminded me of how often certain skills are brought up in order to make someone more desirable & secure a match. I feel like Penelope could possibly begin learning a new language or go about perfecting her dialect, as a nod to her s2 LW quest, in an attempt to associate her with some special skill. Bonus: Colin would be shocked/amazed/lost/confused & I would be living for it.

Nicola's mention of this being the most scandalous season so far-a lot of talk about this referring to a Violet possible storyline, but also I feel like we just sort of gloss over the obvious scandal to be present in C & P's story as well-sneaking, moments between them that even they might not even expect to happen. This has been on my wishlist since as early as the plot was announced. Colin could be doing it for secret lessons, he could be going to apologize, or they could be sneaking around following the first instance of something happening between them. Colin inside Pen's house (in her room), or a scene at her window-idc, I've imagined something of this sort.

Colin wrote a lot about Penelope as she was ignoring him on his travels. He documents everything in his journal & Pen will find something written when she goes through it without his permission. She will be shocked because it will reveal something about his feelings.

Either Colin or Pen will write 1 or more letter(s) that they don't send the other due to the vulnerability in them. This will be revealed towards the end of the season in a very sweet, romantic moment where they confess to and show the other one.

my predictions for how season 3 part 1 will end:

The episode will end with Colin discovering Pen is LW and he’ll have his big explosive moment and she will too, but they’ll get into the carriage together after their outbursts and it’ll fade or black

OR the discovery will be made and they’ll get into the carriage together, continue having their spat with one another but the tension will become too much and the sexual tension will unleash (not necessarily the romantic I don’t think that’ll be until part 2 where Colin realizes that he doesn’t want to just marry Pen out of obligation but because he actually cares and feels for her as his friend and lover) BUT THEN once they’ve done the deed it’ll pan to them realizing what they’ve done with shock and surprise on their faces and then the episode will end

Eloise will come to realize that Colin knows about LW and she’ll have to knock some sense into him regarding it and will come to Pen’s defense, even if they haven’t made up officially yet.

I think they’ll steer from the books and have Eloise and Theo remain love interests, or they’ll sort through their issues and stay friends? Maybe? I just don’t see her ending up with Philip unless they decide to bring him and Marina back for another season only to have smth happen to Marina and he becomes available

Eloise and Pen will remain on no speaking terms but somehow LW identity will become apparent or on the verge of being exposed and Eloise will do something to counteract it or distract from it, maybe even come up with a scheme in part 2 with Colin to diverge it (similar to s1 finale with the queen’s men interference)

I don’t think Anthony and Kate will have as big of a role as I’ve seen some people say they will, but I think we’ll get features of them throughout the season, maybe a snippet of them having a child and Anthony feeling that out, but it’ll be similar to Daphne and Simon where they’re there but not really there or a main feature

I’m sure there are other things and subplots I’m missing but these were the main ones I’ve been thinking about. Any thoughts? Additions? Or are these altogether dumb and the worst opinions you’ve ever heard?

If they really go through with Violet (like teased in Queen Charlotte) getting a love interest of her own, I NEED this to happen during S3 Polin. I need someone to show interest in her and her thinking about whether it is ok for her to fall in love again. I need her to, almost at the end of S3, to have a conversation with Colin where he tells her about how he feels about Penelope but how he was heartbroken after Miss Thomsen and how he doesn't know if he can ever allow himself those feelings again bc he felt so vulnerable and lost after the first time. And she tells him something that she needs to hear for herself as well: Love is vulnerable and love can be sad but allowing yourself to feel loved again and love again after being heartbroken shows strength. No matter how many times one loses, one never is damaged enough to not deserve love anew.

Then, in season 4, her story continues but she is now much more happy and open for a new relationship.

Also, it would be nice if the man was younger. Just because I think that would get some extra attention in the ton and it would also cause some extra confrontational drama with her sons.

I lowkey think we're gonna get Agatha and Thomas Bridgerton in the same pregnancy.

This is mainly a thought because of Portia's "I am a mother" speech to Jack. The one that goes that the first Featherington daughter who has a son inherits the Featherington title.

From the books we know Penelope has Agatha first and then Thomas, well they already made Amelia into Auggie for plot reasons. So I'm kinda suspecting Agatha and Thomas are gonna have a closer birthday now.

If they do go this route I want Thomas to be the surprise baby. Like we get hints that Portia's side of the family has had twins before by some off handed comment here or there.

Then when Penelope gets pregnant she writes off her larger pregnancy belly as just her bigger size in general. When she goes into labor you just hear her mutter about it being too early. Everyone is confused because the baby came early. You can see Penelope slowly piecing the puzzel together (pregnancy brain).

She gives birth to little Agatha. Colin announces his daughter to the family. We get a closeup of Portia's face who only looks resigned.

Then Penelope feels the need to push agsin and thats when it hits her that there is another baby.

Much to Portia's shock the daughter she has written off is the one who births her first grandson.

Little surprise baby Thomas Bridgerton is born and Penelope inherits the title.

Yesterdays little leak of Bridgerton goodness led me of course to thinking about things I most want to see in the upcoming season. I’m sure I’ve mentioned all of them before in other posts but like maybe if I just continue to put it out there in the universe then the Shondaland gods will smile down on me.

1. Violet giving Edmunds wedding ring to Colin. We know that Edmund wore a wedding ring thanks to season 2 episode 3. But we don’t know what happened with said ring. I would love to think that Violet kept it with the intention of giving it to Colin. Show Colin is slightly different from book Colin but I think to her Colin is most like Edmund. I want to see it!

2. Love and appreciation for the Polin height difference. This can look so many different ways and yes I want all the different ways. I want Colin on his knees, I want him wrapping his arms around Penelope from behind her. I want them both kneeling on their bed with a full length mirror there with Colin behind her as they explore each other. I want lots of dancing. I want Colin lifting Penelope. I want too much I’m sure but please let’s be appreciative of their height difference.

3. Colin shushing Penelope during their drawing room sexcapades (let’s hope it gets to sexcapades) because you know Pen is vocal.

4. I want them to have nicknames for each other. Not just terms of endearment although I’ll take Colin calling Pen darling and sweetheart any second of the day. But I want her to remind him of the sunshine or something that results in a nickname (like sunshine). I want it!

5. I am honestly really hoping for a less dramatic season and much more of a sexy season. I want things happening by at least the end of the second episode and I don’t think that’s totally out of the realm of possibility. I don’t remember exact numbers but I think Polin had the earliest physical contact out of all the books. So…bring it!

6. I was gonna stop at five because I like that stopping point but I couldn’t help but bring up how much I want Colin to still have his v card. And like I think it’s clear Colin is educated. He has older brothers and has had some experiences but he hasn’t gone all the way. I find Colin to have so many similarities with his uncle Nicholas from First Comes Scandal in which baby Colin steals all the attention. Nicholas is also a virgin and there’s so many similarities to having a purpose and wanting a different life and it’s so Polin. I feel like show Colin feels more like Nicholas to me. And I just want it. For him to not be a rake at least. Also we know Edmund had been young and inexperienced when he married Violet so…see number one and let’s make this happen.
