We’ve been sitting on this for a while and think it’s an appropriate question to ask too, especially when rights of BIPOC/WTF folk are being challenged in Vision Zero/Safe Streets and Transit... In 2020, we hope folks are thinking of ways to use their spaces and privilege to lift up BIPOC/WTF folks in their community. . We've had so many great conversations, posts, and lessons to make moves in solidarity. If folks want to learn how to ally with BIPOC peeps for safe streets/ vision zero /or other cycling/outdoors/community/transit movements, we have resources to guide you in our website and Patreon. . Solidarity is a verb. Being an ally means so much more than believing in equality or the rights that others are fighting for, you gotta do the work. It means educating yourself and actually joining the struggle in whatever way you can. . In the meantime, we have opportunities to practice solidarity every day and should ask: How much space are we taking up in conversations? in rooms? in organizing? How do we actively improve access to our spaces or meetings? Our actions? How are our identities taking up space? Physically? Verbally? How much do we know about the people we seek to work with? What are our assumptions and from where did they originate? Who are we leaving behind? . Because much of the work we do is on indigenous land in Turtle Island (so called America) we have to make an effort to acknowledge the original peoples of the area/region/location in which we live, play, and do our riding, and connect with local Indigenous communities to involve them in our work, including elders, and youth. As an indigenous person, I cannot stress that if actions are not taken to center Black and Indigenous voices in your cycling and outdoor spaces, our movements serve no purpose than to center privilege and entitlement of settler colonial values. . Dinner on the patio!! So we got a lot of pizza last week! One was fresh and two frozen! I kicked up that fresh one a few posts ago. Today I threw the @jackspizza on the grill and it turned out superb and give a totally different taste to a regular old frozen pizza!! That salad is made entirely from #nnemapfoodpantry items! Now let's rock the recipes!! SALAD DRESSING 🥗🥗🥗🥗🥗🥗🥗🥗🥗🥗 In a bowl, mix all ingredients *1/4 cup oil salad, vegetable or olive *The juice of 1 orange peel a second orange slice half thin and add to dressing bowl, crush the other half over the bowl to get rest of juice *Juice of half a lemon *Slice thin a small sweet or red onion. Add to dressing *1/2 teaspoon oregano *1/4 teaspoon salt ( I had no oregano so I added 1 tablespoon Tripping Vittles pasta pizzas) Let everything sit in bowl for half hour. Pour over lettuce and toss! GRILLED PIZZA 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕 Take one frozen pizza heat grill to 400 degrees. Unwrap remove from cardboard place in center of grill. Rotate pizza a quarter turn every 3 min or so. By the time it's gone in a fill circle it should be ready to take of grill.
