I love farm fresh breakfast. Do you remember those smoked pork chops I canned a while back? Well a fast breakfast in the morning is to open one of those cans heated up and have some with some eggs. These pork chops were grown by us last year and were processed and smoked by Jerome Country market last year. I was cleaning out the freezer a couple months ago and realized we had a lot so I started canning them. What a great, quick, homestead fast food meal. We extended the garden this year, eventually we want raised beds, but since it wasn't in the budget this year I just went with compost on the ground. It's working pretty well so far. So far the following crops have germinated: French melon, oil seed pumpkin, cabbage, glass gem corn (mostly for Halloween decor, but it does make good flour, I hear) zucchini, and jack o lantern pumpkins. Still waiting on my bib lettuce and watermelon. You can also see in the background the new composter Jeremy made. It's a better system for lazy composers such as myself.
