robert chase regressor hcs !!

- his age slides from 2-5 depending on how stable/safe he’s feeling

- his regression started by being involuntary during times of stress, and developed into a way for chase to have the childhood he never got

- little chase is soooo clingy. especially when he’s younger, he needs to be around someone all the time. he’s really dependent on parental figures

- and super sensitive. he will get sad and cry easily, but it’s just as easy for him to switch to being happy

- very protective over his stuffies (namely his favorite, a kangaroo that was a gift from foreman)

- chewy! when he’s big he’s always nibbling at something and house always tells him off for chewing his pencils. one day he finds an adult teether necklace in his locker with a note that says “chew on this instead.” it’s obviously from house. he does start using them and house teases him for it but secretly finds it kind of adorable

- this follows him into littlespace. he uses a teether/paci but whoever’s with him will still have to tell him to take the lego blocks out of his mouth at least five times

- also chews holes in his sleeves and then finds out that if he sticks his thumbs through them, he’ll have thumbholes! wilson is not very excited about this discovery

- he has a play doctor’s kit! he’s very proud of how well he can patch up his stuffies (house corrects him about everything. he took it too far once and told chase the story was inaccurate and under these circumstances Kangaroo would die, and chase started crying. wilson had to do damage control)

- when he’s in his older range, he likes doing little tasks wilson tells him to do, like helping out with the cooking or folding laundry. he Lives to be told he’s doing a good job

- wilson gets him those ‘good job! amazing! excellent!’ stickers (this of course inspires a discussion between him and house about how often chase should be getting these stickers, because house thinks they should be saved for special occasions and wilson wants to give them out 5 times a day)

- chase loves stickers in general. Everything is covered in them

- when he’s especially small he goes nonverbal and cannot let his cgs out of his sight. object permanence is gone and he thinks that when they leave they’re gone forever, so he gets very scared. this exasperates house, but he lets chase cling to him regardless

- to cheer him up, house cracks jokes until he gets a giggle

- eventually amasses a whole collection of rubber duckies for bath time

- this causes wilson to nickname him ‘little duck’ (wilson goes ham with the nicknames in general - sweetheart, little one, darling, sunshine - and chase loves them)

- house refers to him as the ‘little wombat’ and calls him ‘kid’

- house finds out he’s a regressor because during a case, chase is acting oddly and ofc denying it, until he eventually has a breakdown and involuntary impurely regresses. house is super confused at first, so he drags him to his apartment and gets wilson to help out

- house does a Lot of research on regression after that

- whenever chase is feeling small during work and too vulnerable to be around other people, he sits in wilson’s office until he feels better. wilson keeps an emergency reserve of little gear in his desk but chase refuses to use it

- sooo fascinated by music. watches house play piano and the whole times he’s like this :o

- also predictably such a cuddlebug

Wilson’s a caregiver, so I can’t exactly write regression headcanons about him haha (/lh)! I hope you like these!

💕 Do they have a caregiver?

Yes to both! For House it’s Wilson (once he slipped at work and Cuddy sort of had to “take care” of him for a while) (they never talked about it again and Cuddy isn’t sure what exactly happened) and for Chase it’s House.

🚸 Do they have another regressor they play with?

Sadly, no. To either - to have another regressor to play with for Greg would mean letting anyone but Wilson see him vulnerable, and he would despise that. For Robert…well, House can regress (which would make him a flip), but, again, vulnerability. He’s fine being a cg for Chase anyway, and only a caregiver.

🃏 Random headcanon about their regression?

Robert plays “surgery” with his toys with scissors. He’ll cut them up, then get sad because they’re ruined, and go to House who will just be like “sorry, tough loss. Maybe don’t cut them up next time.” (But he can do basic stitches now to fix up Robert’s plushies). As for Greg, he’s as close to a cuddle bug as he’ll allow. He feels really safe with Wilson, and has fallen asleep while watching TV with his head on Jimmy’s shoulder or his lap.

If there was a guide on how to parent a regressed Chase the number one rule would be to avoid sugar and candies if you're not ready to deal with an extremely hyper child. This kid gets so easely sugar rushed it's insane.

Regressor Robert Chase headcanons

Regress anywhere between 3 and 13

He craves validation so much that it’s almost like he needs it to survive (which is not necessarily super healthy but it’s Chase)

^ in relation to that if you tell him he’s doing/did a good job and he’ll literally light up like the sun (or potentially cry, but it’s good tears though). Either way that’s like the best thing you can tell him.

Gets sassy if he regresses anything older than 6.

He gets pouty really easily (he’s a pouty little guy)

^ he also cries easy

He's clingy too (like a duckling, always a few feet away at most if he can help it)

^ or you’re going to the kitchen to have a glass of water? Not without him.

Will hold hands at all times.

Either a calm kid who calmly eats cereals in front of their morning cartoon or a hyper kiddo who will run in the house for extended periods of time and jump everywhere for no particular reason at all with rarely any in-between.

Would love to do some outdoor activities (like going to the zoo, aquarium, things like that) when he’s regressed but he never had the occasion to and anyway he’s way too anxious about regressing in public.

Get frustrated easily (especially with himself) which causes him to throw fits and tantrum pretty often.

^ He does however also calm down from those easily as well

Jealous little (if carer is doing so much as talking to someone other than him, he will pout and tug on their sleeve because he needs all the attention).

Loves to sit on the counter while watching his carer making food (potentially helping by passing the ingredients, makes him feel helpful)

Will deny the fact that he’s slipping no matter how obvious it might be.

Because of his childhood people drinking alcohol/drunk people either scare him or are a negative trigger for his regression.

He is very cuddly, loves hugs. A real cuddle bugs.

^ Sometimes randomly runs up to carer, gives them a hug, and run back to what he was previously doing

He chews on everything and anything ranging from his sleeves and hands to pens and random blankets (even when he isn't regressed, he tends to chew on his hands, finger and nails when he’s anxious or when he’s busy thinking and doesn’t notice) (on pens and coffee sticks as well but that’s less a bother)

^ When House noticed, he bought him a chewlery collar in hope he could redirect this habit in a less hurtful way (he had left it in Chase’s locker with a note saying something like “chew on that instead” and he only knew it was from House because he recognized the handwriting)
