I fell in love with @a-anxy ‘s redcoat Alex and @hamalicious-soup ‘s mention of how they’re like James and Sarah from Liberty’s Kids
So here’s a sketch of them 🥰
Tell me if I should make them a full drawing!!!
Credit to @a-anxy and @hamalicious-soup for inspiration :)

Liberty's Kids - BGC
Liberty's Kids portrays the American Revolution from the Boston Tea Party of 1773 to the Constitutional Convention of 1787 following the adventures of Sarah, a Loyalist newly arrived from England, James, a newspaper apprentice supporting the Patriot cause, and Henri, a French orphan who is attracted to trouble. With its thoughtful handling of complex issues, star-studded cast of voice actors, and absolute bop of a theme song, it remains one of the few shows from my childhood that I still enjoy today.
The outfits worn by the three main characters had been on my mind for a while, but an anon ask gave me the push to finally make them. Because they are based on a cartoon, they are not 100% accurate for the time period. Each outfit comes in a child and T-E version. They are in the (retired) Colonial Williamsburg palette in addition to the canon swatches.

I saw a post by @icarusbetide saying that they love the idea of George Washington being a gossiper and I am behind this 100%, but I would like to add for consideration him constantly shipping the people around him. Someone on his staff courting someone? He’s silently praying it works because he thinks it’s cute. If it’s someone he disapproves of, he’s all “oh honey no you can do so much better”. He’s the one subtly trying to “encourage” along certain relationships. His aides are begging him to stop. He will not yield.
He accidentally witnesses James and Sarah kissing or being otherwise lovey and he’s just

Ok, maybe I’m drunk and overthinking things, but y’know how Sarah outsmarted this guy?
His name is Lt. Brampton, right? So I went to google to see if he was ever a real person and
Is google trying to tell me that Sarah Phillips, the bad bitch of 18th century America who never even existed, outwitted this man here?
Cause if she did, she really is that bitch.

I like to remind you that these two
Were alive at the same time as these lot
Therefore these kids probably spend time with Isaac and Nigel. They possibly saw Isaac shooting Nigel.

Could you draw Sarah Phillips and James Hiller from Liberty's Kids? All grown-up and Sarah wearing a new gorgeous more grown-up dress and James looking like the official inheritor of Ben Franklin's printing company, except with a shirt a little more open a the collar than his mentor's? LOL
If you didn't ship these two, were you actually paying attention in your middle school American history class?

Liberty's kids as memes again:
I forgot I had these, and I only posted like 3 last time. Oops. So here's me sharing a few more with y'all.
If James is the responsible one, you know there's gonna be problems(especially before the war):
The devil works hard, but those pigeons sure didn't:
I feel like this one is fairly self explanatory
How henri always ends up sitting on the top of the carriage at some point is beyond reason by now:
Listen you can't tell me James wasn't going off about tyranny the whole time they were under the floorboards:
This is literally the first several episodes of LK:

This pic has taken over my life this April, now I've looked at it too much lol
anyway, here's the print shop and the three amigos, with some detail shots.
I took a lot of liberties (lol) with the layout and architecture of the shop itself. I think its fair, considering that the show took a bunch of liberties themselves when designing their version of the shop. I don't think benji's house exists any more, and the building that was the shop is super small and definitely not enough to actually house people. I think the show must have blended elements of both. With that in mind, I took some limited inspiration from the show and came up with what you see here.

Lineart for this scene because I was glued to my screen. If you haven't yet, I definitely recommend reading this James x Sarah fanfic by connectingconstellations on ao3: if your own windows are glass

Snippet
Just binge-watched Liberty's Kids and am now completely hopped up on James and Sarah vibes. Throwing this out into the ether in case I never do anything with it.
October 1781: Yorktown, VA.
James hisses as Sarah presses the rum-soaked cloth against his shoulder. "It's just a scratch."
"James, you're fortunate you haven't a musket ball in your shoulder. Now, hold still."
He drums his fingers on the other side rapidly against his thigh, and sweat beads at his forehead as she wraps clean cloth strips around his arm. He angles his head toward her, catching the scent of gunpowder and campfire ash that clings to her copper hair. His skin burns where the musket ball had grazed him, slashing and burning through pale skin. "Mrs. Hiller."
Sarah raises her eyebrows and briefly pauses her ministrations. "Mr. Hiller."
"How many children do you want?"
"Heavens, James, do you really think this the time or place?"
He might have shrugged but for the stabbing pain in his left shoulder. Lucky it's not the right. "I'm trying to focus on other things."
"Well, how many do you want, then?"
"I don't know, ten."
"Ten!" Sarah tears the bandage and tucks the end into the overlapping folds. "James Hiller, you cannot possibly expect me to undertake to raise ten children while you're off risking your life on battlefields! Goodness, we can't possibly have more than three or four."
In the end, the war largely ends with this battle at Yorktown, and James establishes himself as a printer in Albany, doing rather unexpectedly well for himself. They have six children, five of whom survive to adulthood, plus several orphans-turned-apprentices that take up semi-permanent residence.
In the end, Sarah looks fondly on the old scar, permanent as the ink on her fingers and the creases around her eyes.
