ACGAS Christmas Special Spoilers (random musings and thoughts)
- Little Eva as Dorothy, her little ruby slippers “not working” oh no, break our hearts why don’t you?
- Jenny & Eva together was adorable. Mr Alderson as a grumpy Father Christmas was hilarious.
- FINALLY Siegfried & Tristan had the I love you fest they deserved. that was so DAMN perfect and beautiful and almost American for how thick they laid it on. (I’m not complaining!)
- But I think this means that we’re going to move onto another character Siegfried has been repressing his affection for. because I think this episode is actually setting up Siegfried & Audrey as our endgame after all??
- I really wasn’t sure what to expect, considering the trailer focused so much on Audrey & Gerald. and I am SO happy Audrey finally got a moment of happiness for herself (and some lip action!) Gerald is so sweet.
- but they set it up in such a way that Audrey was choosing between the two men in her life. Siegfried was slowly sliding his hand towards hers with that small smile and he was saying, “I should have listened to you, Mrs Hall. You always seem to know what’s best for me.” and she was too distracted, I’m crying.
- then he saw them kissing under the mistletoe and his face was so??!! this is a man who just realised what he’s been ignoring and I think season 4 may open a new chapter for them.
- so happy Siegfried & Tristan hugged goodbye tbh. I won’t be over it for some time.

Samuel West spoke about meeting Peter Wright for the Christmas crossover programme.
Tumblr media
While fans of All Creatures Great and Small will no doubt be looking forward to this year's Christmas special, the show also has another treat for fans first, with a crossover programme with The Yorkshire Vet set to air directly before the new episode.
The crossover programme will see Yorkshire vets Peter Wright and Shona Searson, the former of whom was James Herriot's real-life apprentice, entering the world of Darrowby and going behind the scenes of filming.
Samuel West, who plays Siegfried Farnon in All Creatures, spoke with RadioTimes.com and other press about meeting Wright and Searson for the programme, and what he learned from the experience.
West said: "I learnt a lot about Donald from Peter because he studied with him and was there. And I also learned a lot about him from Andy, Andy Barrett, our on set vet who also studied with him. But yeah, I had a very good time."
Tumblr media
He continued: "It's fascinating because he's lived his own life from basically the point where Donald stopped, Donald Sinclair, the real life Seigfried Farnon I mean, to now where he's still working, and seen the huge changes in, particularly dairy herds, and going from visiting a farm to do a pregnancy test on one cow to visiting the farm for an entire day to do 300.
"And it's almost not the same job. In fact, there aren't really practices that do the split farm animal/small animal thing anymore, unless they're in West Scotland, or some archipelago, because they’re such different things. So yeah, it was really interesting."
The programme will air directly before this year's All Creatures Christmas special, which will see James hoping to get home from the RAF air base at which he is stationed to see his pregnant wife Helen for Christmas.
Nicholas Ralph, who plays James in the show, spoke about what fans can expect from his storyline in the episode, saying: "He's probably been away now for about four months, so it's a long time to be away from your significant other.
"And he misses Helen hugely, and she's pregnant, and like he says before he leaves, things are a lot different now than when he signed up.
"When he signed up Helen wasn't pregnant, things were very, very different. And if she was back then, who knows what decision he would have made.
"So yeah, missing her hugely and missing the family, but also finding this camaraderie and this kind of brotherly love – and thank God for that. Thank God for these young men that he's surrounded by, that they've got each other as well."

I wonder how Siegfried would feel about seeing Mrs. Hall leaving for (or returning from) a date with the clock fixing guy. He seemed sweet and INTERESTED!
Where are my fic writers? We need to write it before the show gives us some other version of events. I feel like he would really NOT like it… hehe
So married.

I really wish this season that we could have seen Seigfried slowly opening up again romantically with Dorothy and not Diana, especially after that lovely scene in last year's Christmas special about the "old" Seigfried.
I wonder if Dorothy isn't in it this year because the actress wasn't available and they didn't want to recast, given the sad passing of Diana Rigg meant they already had to recast a character. But secretly I'm hoping Dorothy returns in the last episode of the series or perhaps for the Christmas special.

Currently reading All Creatures Great and Small after instantly falling in love with the 2020 adaptation. I was doing some research on the real life stories behind the books when I came across this little gem of information...
The person who inspired the character of Seigfried Farnon was named Donald Sinclair. His first wife was named Evelyn (who is mentioned in this adaptation), and his second wife was named Audrey.
In the books Mrs Hall is a lot older but in this version she's around Seigfried's age.
And her first name is Audrey.
You cannot tell me that isn't a coincidence.

All Creatures Great and Small: Meet real-life Siegfried and Tristan | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV
All Creatures Great and Small: Meet real-life Siegfried and Tristan | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV
All Creatures Great and Small has been airing on Channel 5 and the uplifting drama was full of emotional moments. Families have made Skeldale House their own personal retreat as they escape the realities of the 21st century. Some of the characters were inspired by people the real James Herriot lived and worked with. Donald Sinclair – Seigfried Farnon Skeldale House boss Seigfried Farnon is loved…

of course I love Seigfried and Audrey’s #married feels. but tbh I wanted to gush about the younger Mr Farnon’s relationship with Mrs H. because they’re so damn sweet?? from the second he came home, and she greeted him and told him she could feel his ribs poking out. the way she’s looked after him (and James), all her mother henning , the way she runs interference between him and his dad big brother. Edward said she always cares about the families she looks after. but I think Tristan also shows how much he loves Mrs Hall many times. he won’t let anyone be rude to her, or disrespect her. he wants to share his good news with her and tbh he just really cares. 🥺
