BEAUTY THAT GLITTERS ON THE SURFACE and dazzles so that one fails to examine the soul within.  Prince Adam embraces that beauty.  He dresses in elegant array, powders his face, and surrounds himself with handsome faces and flattering tongues.  He has FORGOTTEN softness and kindness and everything good that had gone with his mother.

She knows none of that, of course, and has no experience with royalty.  They all seem ALIKE in their fondness for luxury.  She is only told that the prince loves soirees and his court arranges them frequently.  Their troupe have been selected to perform tonight.  Perform well, and they will be well paid and may yet come again.  

As she steps into the ballroom, she tries not to be distracted by ornate columns, marble floors, and golden chandeliers.  Ought she to be in awe of such OPULENCE?  The genteel people who have gathered here turn to look on, their clothes of satin and feathers a contrast to colourful skirts and cheap trinkets.  Amusement fills their faces and they TITTER over the new arrivals.

Someone - a steward perhaps - gestures them to move forward to start their show.

He hands the files over to Adam for a moment, his own gaze focusing back out the PLANE window for a moment, taking in the scenery. Karter had gotten word of a particularly OLD text from the early 17th century floating around in Romania. He wasn’t sure of ALL the details, but he knew it was something big considering his contact seemed both thrilled & spooked by the notion.

Normally he wouldn’t have proposed it given that Adam was probably not keen on the idea of walking into TROUBLE ( and that FATHER of his was no pleasant man to work for ) but at least there was some solace in the fact that Adam seemed to respect the craft enough.

“Looks like a helluva score if ya ask me. My contact says it’ll sell fer a pretty penny if we can bring it back IN TACT.”

Of course he’s referring to the museums, but at this rate he’d rather not propose the idea until they’d actually gotten BOOTS on the ground.
