and he actually enjoys being around you

and being taken care of

won't voice this tho

but when Aoi comes in to give him his meds one day he gives himself away by accident

with a

"where's y/n?"

he's a blushing grumbling mess after that lol

after he discharged best believe the next time he gets injured he's not even going to the infirmary

♡ 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 ♡

synopsis: The Tsaritsa orders her Harbingers to take care of a kitsune child she found. Fluff ensues as they all platonically grow fond of you.

includes: all eleven fatui harbingers w/ gn! child! reader

All of them are initially cautious at first. Why would a kitsune be in Snezhnaya? Were you actually a spy and just pretending? But the Tsaritsa seemed to take a liking to you, so they were all required to do their part. (Little did they know they would all end up adopting you.)

Pierro:

At first, he keeps you around because of the Tsaritsa’s orders. But since you are naturally curious, you would follow him around at all times which would melt his heart and make him remember his own youth. Pierro would play chess with you. Kitsune are very intelligent and he would want to bring this out of you slowly. Would sometimes lose on purpose if you’re getting upset though. (He’s shocked if you call him an old man.)

The kind of caretaker who would sit you down on his lap and read you bedtime stories. He has a deep raspy voice that’s useful for when they need to put you to bed. I also think this man is very stressed and your fox form would make him feel a lot more relaxed.

Capitano:

I personally think he’d be really soft with animals and they love him in return. So he’d secretly love your fox form. Capitano takes elite care of your fur, ears, and hair. (Imagine you sleeping on top of his head or shoulders while he gives out orders and the Fatui soldiers are struggling to keep a straight face.)

He is your silent protector. Would trail behind you as you run around the Fatui headquarters. When you’re talking to any soldier, he would stand menacingly behind you as a warning to everyone else to not say anything inappropriate to you. Capitano would give you piggyback rides, lift you up into the air, let you hang off his arm, and do any other fun activities. He really treasures how you’re not scared of him at all, and would protect you at any cost.

Columbina + La Signora:

Columbina and La Signora would team up to do your hair. You would have matching rose buns like Signora by the end of it. The two of them would have the best and cutest clothes for you. The three of you probably have fashion shows and an actual runway. They have hats specially made to fit with your ears.

I just know Columbina knows the best spots for naps and scenery. She would take you to her favorite spots and hum a simple tune for you until both of you fall asleep. La Signora would take on a more motherly role. She wants to know about your day and what you learned while she combs out any knots.

Dottore:

To be honest, the other Harbingers endeavor to keep your time with him limited because of his past actions. Dottore doesn’t care much for kids anyway so this is fine to him. But if you continuously seek him out he’ll begrudgingly deal with your presence. Honestly the worst caretaker out of everyone because he has no idea what to do. What do kids like to do? What do they eat? Why are you crying all of a sudden? It’s making his head spin. Passes you off to his clones who research guides on how to deal with kids. They slowly adapt and teach him later.

Might allow you to attach one of his earrings to your ear, but you take it off rather quickly, complaining it’s too heavy for you. You would also copy his maniacal laugh so whenever Dottore laughs they have a mini you following after. Similar to Sandrone, he might teach you about invention and different kinds of science.

Pulcinella:

The best grandpa who knows every trick in the book. Whenever the Harbingers are at a loss on how to take care of you, they bring you to him and he’s got it under control in a matter of minutes. He wants to know who you are hanging out with and if they’re a bad influence on you. Pulcinella knows when to be strict and when not to. Gives the other Harbingers in-depth caretaking lessons whether they like it or not (especially Dottore.)

He would make sure you have memories of everyone you cherish. Kitsune live so much longer than a human and he doesn’t want you to forget anyone who raised you. Gives you a Kamera and helps you to make scrapbooks of everything you take pictures of.

Scaramouche:

There were always rumors that the Balladeer was soft around the children and elderly but no one quite believed it until they saw him interacting with you. Initially tried to avoid you because he didn’t want others to see an adorable kitsune child following him. Eventually gave in but kept the fake grumpy facade up so others wouldn’t get the wrong idea.

You probably remind him of Inazuma. Introduces you to Inazuman cuisine and wants to take you there someday. He probably knows kitsune folklore as well so he would retell it to you. He secretly finds it cute when you try on his hat but it covers you completely because you’re so tiny. Scaramouche’s temper is reduced while you’re around because he doesn’t want to make you upset. Whenever you ask him to do something he always acts like it’s a chore for a few seconds but immediately gets a Fatui agent on the job.

He’s a puppet who is probably going to live as long as you, so he silently vows to watch over you and protect you always.

Arlecchino:

Arlecchino is around children daily in her orphanage but that doesn’t necessarily mean she’s great with them. After all, she’s raising them to be warriors and soldiers, not babysitting them. But that doesn’t mean she’s bad either. Arlecchino could pick up on your cues easily - she knows when you’re hungry or pretending to be sick, or when you’re actually tired. She’s still not the most in tune with emotions though so she leaves that up to the other Harbingers. Arlecchino would still be helpful with your health though.

She would let you play with the other orphans because it seems to brighten their days (hers as well.) She seems cold and a bit angry at times but your cheerfulness brightens her day.

Pantalone:

He knows what it’s like to be abandoned so he would feel for you. You would be utterly pampered by him. Bubble baths, rubber duckies, any toys you want, the most exquisite of shampoos and conditioners for your ears. He would make sure you receive a proper education and access to any activities you desire. Pantalone would make sure you never left wanting.

He would teach you how to manage money at a young age. You’ll probably never need it but he likes the idea of teaching you something he wished he knew as a child.

Sandrone:

She doesn’t care much at first. Sure, her interest is a bit peaked, but she’ll soon forget about you when she’s busy with her Automatons. That is, until she finds out you somehow snuck into her lab and curiously inspected some of her most dangerous robots. Immediately removes you from the premises.

She doesn’t want to involve you in the more cruel and deadly aspect of her work so instead, she’ll help you to create a small robot for yourself. She does most of the work but shows you some fundamental mechanical skills and secretly hopes you’ll take an interest in engineering.

Sews a kitsune doll for you so you can cuddle it to sleep. Sandrone has different robots created that teach you basic skills like reading, writing, math, etc. Even when she or any of the Harbingers are not around with you, you have her robots to play games with and keep you company.

Childe:

Probably the best caretaker besides Pulcinella. Childe already has multiple little siblings so he knows exactly what to do. However, he has little restraint when it comes to spoiling you which separates him from Pulcinella’s stricter attitude. Childe would cook your favorites with ease but also introduce you to his favorite Snezhnayan dishes. He would comb out your fluffy hair and ears while keeping you occupied with various Snezhnayan stories.

Childe would not want you to fight. He is the protector and defender of childhood dreams so he would encourage you to do what you find fun (and would fund anything you need.) Even though you already know he’s in the Fatui, he wouldn’t tell you anything else about his job because he wants to shield you from harm.

He would introduce you to Teucer and his family quickly. His siblings marvel over your appearance and would play with you often. Ajax understands quite well how it feels to be lonely so he would want you to have strong bonds. Would even allow you to live with his family full time or have sleepovers if you wished.

What if prehistoric reader is so motherly and protective of Baki because back in her time when she was little, her mother dutifully cared for her until her awful demise by some predators and she wanted to give some love to Baki. So he won’t feel as alone and scared like she did. Until she met Pickle anyway.

At some point in one of the stories (perhaps pregnant or mother reader?) I had approached this idea of prehistoric reader being curious about Baki’s mother. She lacked the tools to question him about his family, but once she acquires a more complex vocabulary she begins probing for some background. Does he have a mother? If so, where is she? I’m picturing one of those classic anime scenes where both people slouch in neighboring swings in an empty playground on a late evening. Baki has a stick in his hand and is doodling in the sand, a clumsy attempt at a family portrait. He’s not quite sure how to explain all of the details. He points at the drawing of his mom and then looks up to the reddening sky and reader’s eyes widen in realization.

“Dead?”

“Dead.”

She can feel her chest tighten and immediately regrets intruding such sad memories. Baki notices her awkwardness and chuckles, reassuring her in a quiet, soft voice that it’s not a secret to be avoided. He returns the question and now it’s reader’s turn to point at the sky with a melancholic smile. Then again, even if she hadn’t died, she would be long gone by now. What a strange thought.

Learning the circumstances of the death are a completely different story. Reader is filled with wrath once she connects the dots and Baki has to hold her back and plead to allow him to deal with it himself. Safe to say that motherly reader will never look at Yuujirou the same. That man will feel her vengeance sooner or later. No sin goes unpunished. Not under her watch.

Yandere! Platonic! Rhaenyra w/ Her Cole! Daughter

note: she's on my mind 24/7, lol

warnings: yandere content, giving nyra the daughter she deserved to have, possessive rhaenyra, girl dad laenor, toxic papa criston, talk of the "incident", petty nyra, possessive behavior, obsessive behavior, major spoilers, angst, reader gets married to aemond but it's never explicitly mentioned

♡ One of my favorite little details we got in the show was how Rhaenyra was subtly possessive of her children. It almost seems like she's hesitant to share them with anyone, even their father. For example, Laenor was always getting cut off when it came to their boys, so I believe that Rhaenyra is possessive of her children. I think it would get so much worse if she had a daughter, though! Nyra loves her baby girl so much, even if her father is someone Rhaenyra wants nothing to do with now.

♤ I especially like the idea of her daughter being her oldest child and the one that looks the most like her, or even her mother (not including her skin, of course). Rhaenyra was so scared the first time she had given birth, but I can imagine she was so happy to learn she had a girl! I think that Rhae was especially close with her own mother, so she's happy she can have the same type of relationship with her own daughter!

♡ Rhaenyra makes sure that Viserys is the first to meet her baby girl, too. He's a grandpa now! Nyra is like one of those cats showing off their babies because they're so proud. However, she's painfully aware of how hard it's going to be to keep her daughter by her side like she wants to. The small council will want to marry her off one day, and that just breaks Rhaenyra's heart. She doesn't ever want her baby to leave her, so she dreads the day that (Name) will grow up and be of age to marry.

♤ As for (Name)'s father figure, Laenor absolutely adores their baby girl. He's the proudest papa to ever exist! He often tries to take her on trips with him, but Nyra would never allow it. He knows that she's not biologically his daughter, but that would never matter to Laenor. As far as he's concerned, she's his perfect little girl. Laenor is such a girl dad for their baby, too! Once she's old enough, Laenor likes to put her hair up into intricate Targaryen-typical braids. He used to do the same thing to Laena when they were children, so it's slightly bittersweet for him since he misses her so much.

♡ As for Criston, he can't get very close to (Name) due to Rhaenyra's possessiveness over her daughter. Nyra keeps her close, little (Name) following her like a baby duckling, and Rhaenyra makes it clear that she wants him nowhere near her precious baby. This makes him so frustrated because while he doesn't care for Rhaenyra as he used to, Criston has such a soft spot in his heart for his daughter. She's literally his world, and it kills him that he can't be a father to her because of Laenor and Rhaenyra. He absolutely loses his shit when Harwin comes into the picture and starts watching over the little princess as well. That's his baby, not Harwin's!

♤ Imagine how heart-wrenching it would be if Rhaenyra's daughter acted a lot like Aemma did :(

♡ Rhaenyra was very rebellious and sort of a troublemaker, so when little (Name) gets older and is more laid back and motherly towards her siblings, it makes Nyra think so much of her own mother. I feel like Rhaenyra would sort of... condition her daughter to cling to her even as she grew older, so having (Name) around so much definitely helps Rhaenyra keep her calm even when things in Kings Landing are going badly.

♤ Speaking of, after Aemond loses his eye and Rhaenyra moves to Dragonstone, she's weirdly happy that her daughter isn't living in Kings Landing anymore. Rhaenyra had this overwhelming paranoia that her daughter would find out about Criston fathering her, and just the thought makes her blood boil. She's glad that she can keep (Name) away from him, even if it means hearing her poor girl cry about missing her family.

♡ I mentioned marriage issues earlier, and as her daughter gets older, the more worried Rhaenyra gets. She thinks of marrying (Name) to Jace, but she needs connections to house Velaryon through Baela. Rhaenyra doesn't want her daughter to marry at all. In fact, she wouldn't even give her a choice in the matter. I imagine that she would be pressured into it by the small council, and her poor baby would be forced to marry one of Alicent's children.

♤ Rhaenyra is just one big mother hen, and after the death of Lucerys, she becomes desperate. She needs to have her sweet girl by her side and away from the man who killed her poor Luke. Rhaenyra would arrange to have her daughter whisked away from the Red Keep to be brought back to Dragonstone. After all, (Name) is her heir and only daughter.

hi mera!! this is my first ask but i hope it doesn’t get eaten, but before that i just want to say i enjoy your writing a lot, especially your azul writings???? and azul thought 2 was so good, that one got me on a tight octopus grip. i look forward to the sequel

i want to share this idea that got stuck in my head for days: nun!reader running an orphanage but it’s low on funds until one day rich businessman!azul makes a visits and donate a large sum of money

at first it seemed like azul did it out of generosity from the bottom of his heart and reader is incredibly grateful and indebted to him…but as it turns out he has other intentions

he’s deeply inlove with nun!reader but she’s a nun!! she can’t return his feelings sadly but azul finds a way… as he keeps donating more money to the orphanage and nun!reader has to make it up to him…with her body perhaps? like imagine they’re doing it an empty church after the kids of the orphanage go to bed

also it’s optional but imagine adding rollo to this scenario as the priest!!!

AAAAAAAAA YES YES OTL this is such a yummy concept omg!!!

You can't thank him enough! Oh, you're so grateful for his generous donation and you go on and on about how exciting this is. With these funds, you can buy more workbooks for the kids, replace the chalkboard, buy better ingredients for meals, replace some of the old bed frames, and more! Azul's a little annoyed with all of your never-ending prattling. Sure, it feeds his ego to see you bow your head over and over in thanks. But you could put your mouth to better use instead of just verbally expressing your thanks. >:( he's impatient and horny, but he smiles politely and tells you it's not a big deal. He loves to help those in need! Please come to him should you ever need any help.

You insist that he must come with you to meet the kids. He's a little unsure at first, but you're just so bright and bubbly and he decides he might as well accept your offer, if only to build rapport. Come the next day, he's knocking on the door to the little classroom and poking his head inside. The kids all adore him. They think Mr. Azul is the nicest, coolest guy they've ever met! They prepared drawings and wrote little thank you letters to express their gratitude, and he feels so fluffy inside when he notices how the kids flock to you when you tell them to give him some space. He watches the way you interact with them, so soft and sweet and motherly. It's not fair that you're a nun sworn to celibacy. What he wouldn't give to make you a mother...

Azul didn't think he'd become so fond of you so quickly, but every day spent with you is a blessing. You're just so perfect. Even the kids think so when he asks them about you. "What's Miss (Name) like?" he'll ask and the kids all say such nice things about you. Some of the girls giggle and gossip amongst themselves, eagerly theorizing if Mr. Azul is interested in you. It doesn't help that everyone calls you Mama in the orphanage; it really tests Azul's patience and restraint when the kids come running up to you and tugging on your habit to get you to play or to drag you to Azul because they found him shopping in town. Some of them try to pair the two of you together, setting up not-so-subtle dates under large trees in the courtyard. You find it charming and amusing; Azul thinks it would make for a nice reality.

But then his current reality, which is just as good (for now), is uprooted when Father Rollo comes to visit. Though he looks frigid and stern, he is very gentle when speaking to the kids. He reserves smiles for you and them, or so Azul has learned from observations. When he met Azul, he hesitated to shake his hand, looking at him as if he was a pest, before welcoming him to the orphanage and thanking him for his donation. Azul already dislikes Rollo. Most of all, he's jealous that the kids talk about you and Rollo as if you're a match made in heaven. What's so good about that father anyway! He looks as if he's crawled out of the grave, what with his dark circles and gloomy disposition. Azul, on the other hand, is handsome and put together and eloquent. So why do you seem to look at him as if he's the love of your life? It should be Azul you love, not Rollo! Azul would give you the entire world if you asked. He loves you! He's infatuated!

Maybe he'll just have to prove it to you before the eyes of the god you have so much faith in. :)

I love the idea of ronal seeing this boy who just wants to fit in, want to never stop learning, who strives to be the best he can, and feeding into that as a love language, and also helping him feel like he doesn't have to be like that to be deserving of love and family. aka, most of these are about her becoming almost like a mentor in a way, like a parent mentors their children, but making teaching very personal.

she takes spider out on her Ilu everyday, showing him something new, something important to her. it's personal to them, a time he gets to be held by his mother, spoken to in a soft but wise way he has always imagine a mother would one day speak to him. its a time she gets to hold her new baby, a baby she wishes she had gotten to bond with more in his life, no matter how logically impossible that wish is.

she may have lost her spirit sister, but she makes bringing him to see the tulkun a priority. sign lessons too, working it into everyday life just so he can become fluent. connecting him to his siblings is important to her.

she makes sure he feels included during family meals, sleep piles, going to the family bathing pool, etc. she makes sure he doesn't feel like he's just tagging along, but that he is meant to be there.

she worries about him physically; she knows his human body was never meant for this world, nor half of his normal activities. she pays special attention to his hands and feet, how scarred and calloused they are. she clicks her teeth at his thin frame (even if he's lean with muscle, he's still just so tiny to her, she worries) and the shiny skin on his nose, cheeks, and shoulders (sun damage). she makes a ritual of applying balms and ointmants, treating his hands and feet with oils, feeding him filling meals each and every night.

ronal makes sure to use terms of familial possession and terms of enderment for him. she doesn't use his name often, she typical calls him "yawne" (beloved), "maitan" (my son), or "yawntutsyìp" (darling/little loved one) [keep in mind, these came from the learnnavi site, and I don't know if these are accurate to the metkyina people or their dialect]

nags and disciplines him like any other mother would nag and discipline their children, the boy craves structure, normalcy, motherly love (even in the form of tough love).

I personally hc that ronal isn't the touchiest person, in terms of like hugs and like full body touch, but she's a hand on the shoulder type mom. she's always touching her kids in her own way. she's always has a hand on him, on his back/shoulder, in his hair, holding his arm. he always knows she's there.

speaking of hair, she definitely helps manage that (I think after neteyam he hacks it all of during his mourning period). she makes sure it doesn't dry out and tangle from the salt water, styles it in the traditional metkyina way (with a little help/education from mac and norm, his hair is style more appropriately for his hairtype, cause man have they been waiting for a chance to do that).

she knows that he wants to help, to be of use, but he can't be a hunter due to his body; so she teaches him how to cook and craft, to use the land (cause he has to relearn a lot of stuff in this new territory). she finds he really likes making jewelry and helping cook (both are very communal activities, its done in tight groups, he likes that). she definitely sticks back with him, spending more time doing that over hunting unlike before.

she has multiple beads on her song chord for him; when she first adopted him, the first time he met the tulkun, the first time he called her mom, etc.

Hii, so my silly thoughts running would the reader in cacoëthes hate their baby? Or like would they try to give the child a better life than what they had to live

GREAT QUESTION ACTUALLY

i wanna say that she wouldn’t completely hate the child, she kinda eventually learns to love her baby during her pregnancy cause a baby is a baby, they're going to be born without hate or any ill intent, but she still holds a particular kind of fear towards them. they’re a part of her but also a part of the very monster that’s taken her to this place. the thoughts of what if they end up exactly like him comes to mind constantly: obsessive, selfish, deceiving. she's so terrified of what her baby would end up as but when the child is finally born (i feel like reiner would be more of a girl dad idk if i said this before), all those worries are washed away. reader can only silently promise to give this sweet child a complete ignorance of what it's truly like living in marley, so in a way, she's really trying to give them a good life compared to hers.

i've said this before in previous asks (maybe lol) but reader does have a large portion in her heart that shares a deep softness towards reiner and no matter how much she denies it and how insanely irrational it is, it's true. don't forget though, a small part of it still resents the hell out of him, it's basically the only sane part she retains but holds back. why? not even she herself knows but it's most likely the hormones making her bounce back and forth in her mind.

reader is mostly trying to protect the child from what the father truly is and her desire to run away again but with her child starts up again. there has to be a better life for them than constantly being under the watchful eye of him and she attempts running again when he offhandedly mentioned about getting her pregnant again once she recuperates. she doesn't get far and he catches her of course, threatening to take away their child from her if she does anything like this again. she can only weep and agree, clutching the baby deeply in her arms and preventing him from even trying to hold their kid. reader actually does eventually let him hold their baby but only if she's nearby and watching him bond with them; she always becomes a nervous wreck during it and reiner rationalizes it as just her motherly instincts so he never pushes/taunt her about it or pressures her to calm down. he really wished that she'll finally give into the idea that she's no longer going to get out of marley after the birth of the first child, but hey, that's what a second child is for 🤪🤪

ATLA vs NATLA: The same woman problem

There was one thing which particularly stood out for me in the live action ATLA (though it is not alone in this phenomenon) and that is how all the female characters seemed like they were reduced to the same basic archetype. We've seen it a lot in the media recently, the cool girl who is slightly wry, incredibly competent, badass, kicks ass, you get the idea. This is very much the modern makeover I felt the female characters in NATLA were given, and it got me thinking about ATLA and how good it was at presenting different types of women.

We had Katara who was fierce and nurturing, Suki who was cool and competent, Yue who was soft and kind, Toph who was brash and confident, Azula who was smart and scary, Ty Lee who was bright and mischievous, Mai who was insoucient and loyal. In the live action it felt like we just got different flavours of the same person.

I didn't take as much issue with the fire nation trio, Azula seemed pretty in character and we didn't see enough of Mai and Ty Lee yet to judge. I hope that they and Toph keep more of their strong personalities in season 2.

But Katara Suki and Yue fell pretty flat for me. A lot of Katara and Suki's personality traits were sacrified in the name of making Sokka less sexist. His learning in this area centres around his relationships with Katara and Suki and, therefore, with this aspect of his character removed it necessitated changing theirs. I don't personally see this as more progressive than the alternative.

Katara A huge part of Katara's personality is removed in the live action. Her nurturing, motherly nature has long been a point of contention in the fandom. But it represented a subset of women who are like that (ask any eldest daughter if Katara resonated with her). In the cartoon Katara and Sokka definitely trade off on being the responsible one of the group. Katara takes care of the basic needs, the emotional needs, and keeping the group together. Sokka takes care of navigating and the safety of the group. I don't know why they couldn't have kept this. Instead, Katara is treated like a child by Sokka (a whole year her senior and apparently all the wiser for it). The way that Katara takes over the role of her mother in the animation is reality for a lot of girls, these things often fall on daughters and I think Katara was a really important character for highlighting this.

Sokka's story focusses heavily on him trying to live up to his dad, so we could easily have had a parallel with Katara trying to live up to her mum. Characters can have more than one motivation, but for Katara we were just given her waterbending. And even here we miss key things through Katara being taught healing rather than discovering it herself, and then rejecting learning healing in favour of learning to fight. Ironically, NATAB has failed to understand the message of the northern water tribe arc - that both healing and fighting are important. And that is Katara: she heals and she destroys. She is a nurturer and a fighter. She is both, and both are important.

Additionally, a lot of Katara's relationship with Aang comes from her concern over him. With this absent, their relationship doesn't feel as strong, Aang instead being the one to teach and help her. Katara's emotional bond with Aang is also used in the live action as a plot point but it falls short of the emotional impact of the original because we have not been shown that bond. Katara's nurturing nature being contrasted with her fighting spirit and prowess is such a wonderful personality contrast which really rounds out her character in the animation and I felt its absence.

Suki I already talked about this briefly in my overall review so I will be short here. I personally didn't like what they did with Suki's character in the live action. In the animation I love how playful Suki is with Sokka. She is very self-assured, she knows what she wants and she goes for it. With Sokka's character changes we don't see this side of Suki with him anymore, she is unsure and un-wordly. Sokka seems instead to take the lead. She may still have the physical strength but the live action Suki feels lacking in emotional and internal strength for me. Added to this is her mother, who further brings out a side of Suki that isn't in the animation and I don't particularly identify with her character. I honestly can't quite explain my issue with other than it gave me an off feeling and the ick. I feel like I've seen this character so many times before, whereas Suki in the animation felt really refreshing.

Yue This is where we see the biggest departure from the animation. It's like they were so scared to make a main female character anything other than badass (in a very specific definition of badass). Every other female character I mentioned at the beginning can fight, and can fight well. Yue is the only main female character in the original who cannot, who doesn't even bend, and I think that's really important. It's important that Yue uses words instead of fighting, it's important that she does this despite the difficulties she faces due to her place in the world as a woman.

I was confused about why they would keep the Northern Water Tribe's tradition of women not being allowed to fight but not also keep the patriarchal governing system in place. Making Yue a bender and a priestess takes away the whole point of her original sacrifice, which is that you don't have to be physically strong or an amazing martial artist or bender to make a difference. It's Yue's heart which matters. Apart from the Avatar, Yue is arguably the most important character in the whole of the story. She is a soft girl, she is a kind girl, she is a girl who hasn't really been given much of a voice, she is a girl who has had her life very much decided for her. And she saves the moon. She saves waterbending. She does that. Only she could do that. To me Yue is an important parallel for both Aang and also Ozai (and to a lesser extent Zuko and Azula). She is the example Aang must follow, her destiny was to save the moon as Aang's destiny was to be the Avatar. These things are decided, how they approach them is up to the individual. With Ozai, Yue is his foil as a good leader. Unlike Ozai she never held the power of leadership, but she did assume the responsibility. She sacrificed herself for her people, Ozai sacrificed his people for his power.

The way they characterise Yue in NATLA just felt like too much of a departure from the original for me. They even make fun of the original when Yue says that she isn't really like her princess act (her act being how Yue is in the animation). Absolutely no hate to the live action actress as she was just acting how she was written and directed (although for me personally I also did not get any Yue vibes from her in terms of looks), but that Yue was far closer in personality to Katara and Suki (and even Sokka) than the animation Yue was. It's ok to have different types of female characters, and I hate how Hollywood has created this homogenised female archetype that is everywhere now.

I will end this on saying this is my personal opinion, a lot of this is based on feelings I had while watching it rather than concrete thoughts so obviously many people will disagree with what I have said, which is totally fine! I did find the characters to be a bit flat, I don't think there's anything wrong with making characters a bit more individual and vibrant even in something which is supposed to be "realistic". And once again I feel like the writing of female characters in particular has been let down. I think we sacrificed elements of the girls personalities in order to make them all extremely competent (apart from Suki who was too competent so they pulled her back towards the middle lol). As I've said before, much of this might have been solved by having a 10 or 12 episode run which allows for more character development and less plot. I think studios need to seriously think about whether this format serves the stories they are trying to tell.

Summary: Snippets of the little moments in between the chaos of traveling with one Humanoid Typhoon. [Vash/Reader]

A/N: Practice for the larger series I have in mind and practice on how to write Vash’s character, so this will be on the short end. First one leaning more towards Stamp Vash.

“Hey Vash, have you ever seen a library?”

“A what?”

“A library! A huge room filled with a handful of books.”

Vash doesn’t know why that memory is the first one that comes to mind when he comes back to Ship 3. Home. He should be thinking about greeting Luida and Bradd, to see how all the children have grown and all the stories they will have to tell him since he had last seen them all. He shouldn’t be thinking about the young woman that he had left behind in a dark hotel room, on her own to recover over the injuries that had been his fault. They both understood the danger that came with traveling with him, but she has been curious and Vash has been oh so lonely.

Three shots to her shoulder and abdomen had reminded him why it had been a bad idea in the first place. It was a cowardly thing to do, to leave her like that, but Vash was a coward in the worst way if it meant keeping other people safe. Thus, he returned to Ship 3 and decided to lay low for a while. She would never be able to find him and he would kill the desire to seek her out once more.

“Hey Vash,” Luida’s words break Vash out of his thoughts, as he turns to stare at her, “Is there something on your mind? You seem more lost in thought than usual.”

“No,” he remarks with a smile, “I’ve just been thinking about how much the children have been growing since the last time I saw them. Most of them will be starting school once more. It never seems to get old, watching them learning and growing up.”

“I know, it’s really amazing the technology to help with that has been running for so long now,” Luida continues, “It’s hard to imagine that we used to write and read everything on paper until everything was standardized and became digital for us to use.”

Vash nods, though he had heard this story many times before. Humanity with its technology and environmental issues that came with the latter years of Rem living on Earth moved to having everything digitally saved in order for it to be maneuvered easily and kept aboard the SEEDS ships. There were books here and there --Nai tended to read from whichever ones he had within reach-- on the ships, but those were from someone’s personal collection or the handful that were deemed important and placed securely on the ship, but those were all gone now too. Both of these things had been lost after the Fall, but humanity still struggled to learn like a woman who had probably never seen a book, still dreamed and wondered what a library looked like.

“There he goes again, lost in his thoughts,” Luida laughs. Vash sputters an excuse while shaking his head. She calms him down before teasing him in a motherly fashion.

“So, what or who is curling around in that head of yours, Vash?”

Vash lets out a choked embarrassed noise as Luida keeps laughing, but that stops when he lets out a sigh and looks away wistfully. Luida doesn’t get her answer for now. Once Vash has finished for the day, he lets himself get lost in the memories he doesn’t want to share with anyone else at that moment.

“Why did that word suddenly come into your mind?”

“I don’t really know,” she looks at him with a soft smile, “There are so many things that just bubble up into my mind about what we have lost, what we are still trying to gain…just looking at you makes me want to learn more about them all.”

She laughs as Vash turns away to hide how red his face becomes at the possible connotation of it all -- that she wants to learn more about the past, and maybe about him as well.

Vash ends up falling asleep with the smell of familiar old pages surrounding him and that echoing laughter that doesn’t leave his mind for days.

Bruce dies in his own universe with a fractured family and pseudo children before waking up in another one, where he is the youngest son of Damian and Tim with Jason, Dick and Cass being older siblings. Think reverse-robins, but Tim gets to be Bruce’s mom and him and Damian are deeply confused about why their son woke up one day to be the angstiest person ever.

bruce’s last memories before he dies are just about his broken up little family, they’re all so distant from each other, the cuts of anger and resentment between them too painful to allow them to come together. bruce is filled with nothing but deep regret because he knows that without him there’s no reason for them to want to come together. they all resent one another for one reason or another, the bonds between are more rooted in competition and seeking his approval than a genuine love and desire for each other.

bruce is just in pain and lost because he had no idea how to fix it and now that he died there was no way for him to ever fix it.

but then he opens his eyes and it turns out he’s alive.

sort of.

bruce knows the multiverse exists, knows that there’s infinite possibilities and inifinite versions of himself living infinite lives. some of those lives might feature members of his family.

like the one he’s in currently where he’s in diapers and starting to eat solids while tim, who is his mother, coos at him and feeds him with a pink spoon that has a bunny on the handle.

dick, jason, and cass are there too. they’re all around preschool age and are arching their heads around the corner of the dining room to watch the cartoons playing on the tv.

damian is at the stove and frying what smell like eggs and hashbrowns. a breakfast infinitely preferable to the mashed berries that tim is attempting to feed him. but bruce needs to eat them because he’s learned that resistance to the pureed baby food will lead to tim picking bruce’s chubby body out of the high chair and tugging him to his breast (the milk was admittedly delicious but bruce had enough trauma to last him a lifetime and he didn’t need to add breastfeeding from his son to the list).

bruce is aware that he probably had a lot of screwed-up things going on in his brain and being in a child’s body and so utterly incapable of doing anything about his situation frustrates him. to tears sometimes because his little infant body has no other catharsis.

tim and damian are both worried about him. in his past life it would’ve entailed confrontations, concern that turned to frustration to annoyance to inevitable fights that led to them storming out of the manor for several days.

in this life they try to cheer him up. putting on cartoons and showing him his toys hoping to entice him into a playful mood. tim kisses at bruce’s soft cheeks and murmurs about how much he loves him. he strokes bruce’s back and lays him on his chest and something about the soft hand on his little back and the warm...motherly voice that bruce hasn’t heard in so long telling him how much he loves baby bruce it just...breaks something in him.

bruce cries as a baby.

a lot.

and when he’s not crying he broods. he pouts and stares at his ‘older siblings’ as they have tea parties, draw, read, and help their mother pick up their toys when it’s time for lunch or dinner.

dick, cass, and jason all attempt to include bruce in their games but he’s just too small so they content themselves with building their blocks all around him.

they’re all so...young. so different from what bruce knew them as.

cass isn’t quiet or sneaking around all the time. she’s the loudest of the bunch, giggling and screaming when her brothers chase her around the house for taking one of their toys when it was ‘their’ turn. she’s the troublemaker of the bunch. she receives the most scoldings from tim, mostly for playing too roughly and biting a tearful dick. it’s incredible seeing the kind of person she turns out to be without the influence of david caine or lady shiva in her life.

dick is a surprisingly quiet child. sensitive too. and very prone to tears. a bit of a cry baby, tearing up at the smallest things and darting to his mother for help. he’s very attached to tim, always hugging his legs and burying his face into his clothing. he often has to be encouraged to join his siblings. it seemed that the ‘star of the show’ personality was more something that came as a result of being in show business since birth. an introverted dick grayson. go figure.

jason is...the same. the same as how bruce remembers he’d been when he’d been robin...before red hood. he’s sassy. he talks back to both tim and damian and tries to unionize with his siblings against bed time and vegetables. but he’s also so heart achingly kind and sweet. he protects the second youngest, dick, from their roughhousing eldest sister. he’s the first to offer their mother help and the first to dart to the door and yell ‘daddy’ when damian arrives home from work. jason is that same kind boy that bruce had treasured so much that it had nearly killed him when he’d died.

damian and tim are good parents. they’re kind and loving, they dote on each otheir children and are so clearly head over heels for each other.

bruce was reborn in a good family, one with plenty of siblings and overflowing with adoration and love.

bruce is put in the impossible position of both warming up to this new life and mourning his old one where his children could hardly look at each other and were constantly at each other’s throats.

the complex feelings lead to bruce brooding a lot.

his parents are confused about why their sweet giggling baby has started watching the news with them while chewing on his teething ring. the next time they take him to the pediatrician they’ll bring up the personality change and bruce will be diagnosed as gassy.

so while struggling with his complex feelings about his new life, bruce’s brooding will be interrupted by coos and questions about if his tummy hurt followed by gentle tummy rubs and discrete diaper checks.

bruce is having a hard time adapting to say the least.

Ruki's Ideal Type

Loyal

I always point out loyalty because it's essential in a relationship with anyone, also bc all the diaboys are possessive and have some trust issues

Ruki is no different. If anything, he's even worse. He has several trust issues due to his mother's abandonment, and he doesn't trust any woman. To win his heart, she must be devoted and loyal to him.

Honest

Ruki can read people like a book most of the time, so trying to deceive or hide anything from him would be pointless and could also end up in punishment.

One of the reasons he likes honesty is because it makes it easier for him to pamper his lover. On Ruki's Eternal Blood CD, he tells Yui:

“If you won’t be honest with me about what you want, I won’t be able to give you anything.” (cr: @dialovers-translations )

Submissive

We all know that Ruki calls Yui livestock and refers to himself and her master.

He'd never be in a relationship with someone who wants to be In control. He enjoys when his lover shows their vulnerable side to him.

Obedient

Ruki prefers when his prey is obedient and meek, but that doesn't mean that he'd like them agreeing with every little thing he says.

He's also a brat tamer, he'll make sure they submit themself in the most painful ways. Being a brat with Ruki wouldn't end up well...

Masochist

He's pretty sadistic and on his more blood route, it gets pretty clear. Ruki uses the carrot-stick method when disciplining his prey, which basically means that he'll punish or reward them based on their obedience and behavior.

Though he's always searching for mistakes in order to punish them, he also knows how to reward his lover. Whether is spending time with them, being more affective, cooking a delightful meal and even praise them.

he'll make sure to spoil his s/o once in a while (I personally think that he does that more frequently on some drama CDS or heavens)

Humble

He hates aristocrats and arrogant people (even though he's himself sometimes...)

Yui is pretty humble, so this is one of the traits that makes her so special to the boys. Being arrogant about any of them, especially with Ruki, would end up bad.

Smart

Ruki would like to have a smart partner. Not the arrogant type, though. He likes the idea of being able to have deep conversations with his lover, much better if they are philosophical debates.

He'd also like a bookworm type. We all know how Ruki's always reading, so he'd be the type of boyfriend that reminds all of his lover's preferences, so he would recommend them authors and books that he thinks that would suit their likings.

Neat/clean

Like Reiji, he likes his house clean and organized and enjoys doing housework; he finds their activities enjoyable. I'm pretty sure he spends his days doing housework and reading.

He'll appreciate if they help him with the house chores

Well mannered

Ruki used to be an aristocrat. He had the best education and learned etiquette really early. Even after losing his good life, he kept all his good manners, and taught his brothers them and he's pretty strict with them about it.

If his lover doesn't have good manners, hell teach them like a little kid (he's not a soft teacher though LOL). Just like Reiji, he'll be pretty strict with them, have in mind that Ruki doesn't tolerate sloppiness.

Caring

Now, this is a kind of contradictory.

Ruki would like a caring lover, but not a mother figure. His mother abandoned him, so having a motherly type of partner wouldn't please him at all

In more blood, when Yui starts to worry about Ruki, he gets pretty mad, because he thinks that she pitying him. But as their relationship develops, he finally understands that's just her caring nature.

He wants a relationship where they can rely on each other

Looks

Ruki stated himself that he doesn't care about looks and prefers their personality and what's on the inside

I think he'd like an inverted triangle type of body, mainly because he likes shoulders (it's his favorite place to bite)

He doesn't care about the size of boobs or rear, as long as they look proportionate with your body

likes natural makeup, but appreciate a darker color of lipstick

Likes modest clothes, but wouldn't mind if his lover wore something more revealing for him
