Kenshi and Ashi were childhood friends even before the academy. After she died Kenshi took Shumaru with him. He'd visit her grave for years and years and take Shumaru with him. Until one year, she just sat next to Ashi's tombstone and just... didn't get up... Kenshi just looked at her and left her because somehow he knew, of course by now he knew. He left and went straight to Sho's place to give her the news that Ashi and her dog are finally resting together.
