taal can we talk about the bollywood a-listers sTILL sitting with their lips sealed about all the stuff happening in india rn?! i mean i get that publicists are a thing but seriously. nothing!? wasn’t priyanka chopra the brand ambassador of assam when the nrc first got implemented? and while she’s being cradled in her white husband’s arms millions of people are fucking dying because they’re voicing concerns about THIER government? (1/2)
i’m sick and tired of nepotism-endorsing biggies claiming they’re being victimised because they have rich parents every time they’re asked to make a statement about their validity in the industry but when they have to actually speak up about an issue, they’re nowhere to be seen. (2/2)
okay so i think there’s a lot to unpack here so bear with me, this will be long.
i do agree that it’s disheartening that they are not outwardly vocal at ALL about the growing number of atrocities against anyone with the right mind to speak up against a horribly right-winged government that is fussing with laws to make religious discrimination and violence more prominent and frequent. i agree entirely.
HOWEVER, i do think that is us looking at it without taking the consequences into consideration. deepika padukone, who for all intents and purposes is the biggest actress in india right now/has been for the last 7 years, received death threats (to be literally BEHEADED) for playing padmavati by those same right wingers and is now being told god knows what on her instagram after she showed solidarity with the students impacted by violence at the hands of the bjp. her stardom, her worldwide fame isn’t stopping people from threatening her. it isn’t stopping anyone from painting her out as “anti-india” like they’ve called ANYONE who has said anything remotely critical of modi and his goons. it genuinely isn’t stopping her from having feared for her life. i think they managed to attack the padmavat sets and sanjay leela bhansali, too.
so i think when you consider the consequences that include literal violence, death threats, and destruction of their careers, their silence becomes a little understandable. NOT ENTIRELY EXCUSABLE, but understandable. the result is always persecution, in some shape or form.
priyanka, on the other hand, is going out of her way to praise modi. she isn’t silent– she’s OUTWARDLY SUPPORTING a regime systematically stripping muslims of legal status, of autonomy of any kind, of just the right to live peacefully. she’s also shutting people with valid points who ask how she can reconcile her being a peace ambassador and supporting all of this down by claiming it is a result of patriotism rather than clear islamophobia and hindu extremism. im not gonna say anything about her man though because i don’t think her relationship needs to be brought into this.
as for nepotism, i agree with you that all of these starkids run around like woe is me each time someone brings up the ease with which they’ve gotten the opportunities they have. i’ve said it before but they have ACCESS above all else which is the biggest privilege in an industry like this. people work YEARS to even gain an inch whereas these kids are in the rooms, auditioning, getting their first roles without struggles. siddhant chaturvedi said it right when he said, basically, that when you’re an “outsider” your dreams are coming true the minute you get your debut role and your struggle seems to have ended. whereas when you’re “from the industry” your struggle begins after your debut film because that’s when it matters less who you’re related to and matters more what you can do. but oh no, woe is me, people have expectations!! fuck off
i don’t think i covered everything i wanted to and forgive me if i’m not making much sense. it’s nearly midnight and i’m v tired :(

PM Modi taking bilateral relations to higher level, Bangladesh envoy to India, India News called News [ad_1]
Bangladesh's envoy to India, Muhammad Imran, has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking "bilateral relations to a higher level", a relationship currently known as the 'Golden Age' or "Shonali observance".
Speaking exclusively to our diplomatic correspondent, Siddhant Sibal, Muhammad Imran highlighted the close ties between India and Bangladesh's father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and how the Indian and Bangladeshi forces bleed together for the war of liberation.
On 15 August 1975, he and his family were brutally murdered by renegade members of the army.
Excerpts from the interview
WION: Today is the death anniversary of his father.
Muhammad Imran: Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the father of our nation and has inspired the entire country to fight against all forms of oppression. He was a leader who guided you to freedom. But unfortunately he was killed on this day in 1975 with his family. We mourn his death and we carry forward his ideals. Especially his dream for Sonar Bangla. We will take it forward and the new generation will implement it.
WION: How was the relationship between the Indian leadership and the father of your nation?
Muhammad Imran: He was first taken to London when he came back from Pakistani captivity but decided to stay in Delhi to show the people of India how much we consider the people of India and recognize their support for our freedom . In February, Bangabandhu came to Calcutta and Indira Gandhi went to Bangladesh in March 1972 and relations at that time - that was the high point. Now, PM Modi has taken a good initiative to take the relationship to a higher level. Relations are currently going through a golden age.

‘India was never defined by who won and who lost’: PM Modi - lucknow
Tumblr media
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India’s identity was made through its collective tradition and culture and not defined by its rulers.“India as a nation was never defined by who won and who lost. The concept of the nation here is formed not by ruling power but by people’s culture and traditions, it (the concept of the nation) is made by the people’s enterprise,” he said. The prime minister was addressing the centenary celebrations of Jagadguru Vishwaradhya Gurukul at Jangamwadi Math in Varanasi. He emphasised that the country was formed not just by the government but also by the values of every citizen. “A citizen’s sense of duty makes his values supreme. Our conduct as a citizen will determine the direction of new India,” he said. The prime minister released the translated version of the Shri Siddhant Shikhamani Granth in 19 languages and its mobile application on the occasion. The prime minister said it was a coincidence that the centenary celebrations are taking place at the beginning of a new decade and that this decade will once again establish India’s role in the 21st century in the world. He said the digitisation of Shri Siddhant Shikhamani Granth via mobile app will further strengthen the engagement with the younger generation and will also inspire their lives.Modi suggested conducting an annual quiz competition on topics related to the Granth via this mobile app.He said translation of Granth in 19 languages will help in making it accessible to a wider public.“Tulsidas Ji used to say ‘Sant Samagam Hari Katha Tulsi Durlabh dou’. This is the specialty of this land. In such a situation, the centenary year of Jagadguru Vishwavardhya Gurukul, which is spreading the Veershaiv saint tradition among the younger generation, is a glorious moment,” he said.“I get little opportunity to witness of discussions among saints in close proximity to Baba Vishwanath, and in the lap of the Ganga. This philosophy showing the path of liberation from devotion should reach the future generations. The digitization of this sacred book through an app will further strengthen the engagement of the younger generation. They will get inspiration for life,” he said.It was also amazing that by making Sanskrit language and other Indian languages a medium of knowledge, “you are incorporating technology,” he said. “It is also the endeavour of the government that all Indian languages, including Sanskrit, be expanded and the younger generation should benefit from it,” he said. “Following the path shown by the monasteries and saints, we have to fulfil our life’s resolve and continue to cooperate fully in nation-building,” he suggested. “Chun chun ke hisab lena meri fitrat hai, PM Modi on Air Strikes
Taking a stern note on the opposition for stating the response to Pulwama Attack as an electoral gimmick, the Prime Minister on Monday talked at length about the air strikes on Pakistan.
“They are saying airstrike was for electoral gains. Where there were elections when we carried out surgical strikes? Humara siddhant hai, hum ghar me ghus ke marenge (It is our principle to take the attack home),” PM said while addressing a crowd at the Civil Hospital campus in Ahmedabad.  The event was the innaugral of ‘Medicity’, a 1,200-bed extension costing Rs 1,450 crore, which is also now the largest public hospital in Asia.
Modi was in his home state Gujarat for a two day visit. This was his first visit to the state after the air strikes. While talking to the crowd he lambasted the UPA government for not showing willpower and strength of acting against the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and the 2008 serial blasts in Ahmedabad. Reportedly, the serial bomb blasts killed as many as 58 people out of which over 37 people were doctors and paramedical staff which was blown to death in the hospital campus itself.
Do you remember the day when demons struck Civil Hospital? Had the then government been stronger, they would have taken revenge. Why did they not avenge 26/11 Mumbai attacks?” questioned Modi.
“Chun chun ke hisab lena meri fitrat hai (It is my nature to settle every score),” said Modi.
Bringing his focus on Patidars at the Vishva Umiya Dham venue, Modi said with confidence, “I’m there after 2019 too, so don’t worry”. “If you have any work with union government, consider the Delhi home as yours,” the PM added.
He also addressed the Rafale Purchase controversy, addressing the public in Jamnagar. He said that the presence of Rafale Fighters would have aided in giving Pakistan a better fight in the aerial engagement.
“Those who accused me of questioning the air force strikes when I made this statement must use their common sense. I had said if we had acquired Rafale jets in time, none of of our fighter jets would have gone down and not a single of theirs would have been saved,” said Modi.

Exclusive! Shakti Kapoor: My wife, Shraddha and Siddhanth are looking after me during this coronavirus pandemic - Times of India
New Post has been published on https://apzweb.com/exclusive-shakti-kapoor-my-wife-shraddha-and-siddhanth-are-looking-after-me-during-this-coronavirus-pandemic-times-of-india/
Exclusive! Shakti Kapoor: My wife, Shraddha and Siddhanth are looking after me during this coronavirus pandemic - Times of India
Having worked in more than 700 movies in almost all Indian languages including Nepali and Bangladeshi, Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor is one of the most treasured assets of Bollywood. The actor is currently self-quarantined at home with his family. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Shakti opened up about how the coronavirus pandemic has affected his life, how he is making the most of his time and more. Excerpts…
How has the coronavirus pandemic affected your life? Never in my dream did I ever imagine that I will see what I am seeing today, what the world is seeing. It is very scary. But it has given me time to think and understand. I realized that we slept one night and woke up early in the morning and everything was so different. It is being said that Paris is no longer very romantic, New York is now not standing on its own and then all of a sudden the Great Wall of China is not a wall anymore.
What precautions are you taking to keep your family safe? It doesn’t only come to me and my family now. It comes to the entire universe. I am trying to make people understand how important their life is. This is the moment when one has to be very serious about thoughts and sayings of Mr Narendra Modi. He might be having sleepless nights and he is asking for our help. He is trying to make people understand. Listen to him. I am listening to him and following everything that he is asking the entire nation to do. And mostly because of your family, they are your blood, they are close to you. He is more than 60-years old. He has to look after himself more than the nation. I intend to give up smoking. I am trying very hard. I gave up for a week. But then, I surrendered and I smoked a couple of cigarettes again. I don’t want to do it anymore. So on the contrary, my wife and my children are looking after me. I only tell the world, this is a time where we can fight this epidemic, this moment of horrifying terror, the virus- which cannot be seen but attacks.
How do you keep yourself busy since everything is in lockdown, anything that you are doing in this free time? My wife is a spiritual person so she is into her spiritual crib. She loves praying, she loves God. It has given me time to listen to her. When she talks, she is like a Goddess, very pure. So I am learning a lot from my wife. I have done about 700 films and I didn’t even realize when my children grew up and they have become so big. She has given me time to know my children and them to know me.
We have divided into three sections in the house. I am very happy that everyone wants to be on their own- my wife into her prayers, Shraddha into reading and exercising, Siddhant is into social servicing at this point in time. In my section, every morning I put on the television, wishing to hear that everything is under control now. But nothing like this is happening. I am not getting very good sleep. I am very disturbed about what is happening. Sometimes I feel this is a bad dream. The world has become so scary. Even the strongest human being in this world is scared of death.
I have been watching a web-series and it has taught me about relationships, and humanity. In the evenings, I do some exercise. I have actually put on a lot of weight. My wife is a wonderful cook and I genuinely did not ever get time to eat good food during my working days. I have always eaten food in a hurry. Now, I am relishing the food. After every meal, I thank the almighty that I have never thanked before for what you have given us.
What do you miss doing the most during this lockdown? I miss nothing. On the contrary, I have enough time to myself now. I was 20-years-old when I came to this film industry. I didn’t ever take a holiday. I didn’t get time to think about what was bad and what was good. So this has given me time to think. What I miss is the smiles of the people.
What message would you like to give to everyone during this time? We should respect nature. We are not the rulers or the bosses, we are the guests. Let everyone become more pure and spread love. This is no war happening, but still it is a war. I pray to God this ends and when it does, the world has to start from zero, again. We will have a new world.

4500 Indians from Sydney brought back from India, India Consul General in Sydney says India News [ad_1]
India returned 4500 Indians from Sydney, while a total of 11,000 Indian nationals were recalled from Australia. Talk to diplomatic correspondents of WION Siddhant Sibal From Sydney, Consul General of India Manish Gupta said, "The diaspora has an important role in connecting the two countries and during the last decade itself, the migrant numbers have doubled.
Relations between India and Australia have grown and earlier this year both the Indian PM Modi and his Australian counterpart held a virtual summit.
WION: How do you see the relationship between India and Australia?
Manish Gupta: India-Australia relationship is bound to have a major rebound. Recently the leaders of the two countries held a virtual summit. Commerce, culture, people-to-people relationship, high-level political relations, relations cover all areas. In short, as we move forward, we will see more robust engagement between our 2 countries.
WION: How has the repatriation mission done from Australia?
Manish Gupta: These are very challenging times, everywhere in the world including Australia. Thanks to the Vande Bharat Mission, we have been able to establish a structured framework for repatriation of stranded Indians during the last 3 months. Glad to say only in Sydney that we were able to repatriate 4500 Indians under the Vande India Mission and about 11,000 Indian nationals in Australia in total. The process is running smoothly and we are able to reduce the load by an able amount and with the regularization of flights to Vanda India as well as high frequency as well as chartered flights, the situation is more under control. Very few cases remain
WION: Role played by expatriate in relationship?
Manish Gupta: The diaspora has an important role in connecting the two countries. During the last decade, the migrant numbers have doubled. Many of them are working in the professional field, some in business. We have a highly skilled and very energetic expatriate. The Indian IT sector is well represented here in Sydney and Melbourne. The 2 countries are overall important to connect, not only do they bring people together but also bring awareness. Major programs like Make in India and Namami Gange have been very well received here.
WION: Its Independence Day..Australian and Indian artists have come together for a collaboration called Sur Sagar ... Stoning people's ties to the big people?
Manish Gupta: Tremendous cooperation and respect between Indians and Australians for each other. Australia is a country that respects diversity, and relationships are strengthening and the existing piece of music is produced in record time - artists from Australia and India came together to release Sur Sagar Are, in a sense, a celebration of diversity, a celebration of democratic values and music, and one that brings 2 countries together and in fact, our cultural center here in Sydney is doing an amazing job. Since the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center has been operational here for the last 5 years, our cultural ties have further strengthened and focused on not only Yoga and Ayurveda but also art, culture, performing arts. In New South Wales they are happy to say that they can learn Hindi, Punjabi and Tamil and the cultural centers play an important role.

Chaiwala to Chowkidar | Soapbox - Nation Information
http://tinyurl.com/y3sdkmd6 If Narendra Modi managed to show a careless jibe about his being a ‘chaiwala’ right into a profitable marketing campaign in 2014, this time the BJP is hoping to counter ‘chowkidar chor hai’ comment with a ‘Essential bhi chowkidar hoon’ blitzkrieg. Illustration by Siddhant Jumde. Discuss turning the tables on the opposition. If Narendra Modi managed to show Mani Shankar Aiyar’s careless jibe about his being a chaiwala’ right into a profitable chai pe charcha’ marketing campaign in 2014, this time the BJP is hoping to counter Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s chowkidar chor hai’ comment with a Essential bhi chowkidar hoon’ blitzkrieg. To this finish, the BJP has launched 4 brief movies highlighting Modi’s efforts to cleanse the system, whether or not by way of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or to rid the economic system of black cash. An initiative not of any advert company however the PM himself, the movies enjoin upon the folks to take part in his campaign to safeguard the pursuits of the nation. Woh akela chal pada, principal kataar mein hoon, principal bhi chowkidar hoon (he has set out alone, I, too, am with him, I’m additionally a chowkidar)’goes the theme tune of the movies. So one movie has a automotive showroom supervisor refusing to just accept money cost for a automotive, one other has a spouse telling her husband to not litter the road as they drive previous of their automotive, the third has a health care provider working until late within the night time, saying, Will the nation’s chowkidar (learn Modi) alone work until late within the night time? Essential bhi chowkidar hoon, all of them repeat on the finish of the movie. They start, in fact, with the footage of Modi declaring Essential desh ka chowkidar hoon. The movies have been shot throughout the nation and have footage of the assorted classical arts within the background. The marketing campaign was countered with a spread of jokes and a few spoof Essential bhi chowkidar’ handles, notably Nirav Modi’, which duly obtained an auto-response welcome from the PM’s deal with, inflicting some hilarity.
