disclaimer: i quite dislike mahaepisodes. they're too long and stuffed with the drama of like 4 normal episodes, and thus are absolutely exhausting for me to watch at a go. i like my desi show episodes 22 minutes tops, thanks. so i'm kinda grumpy even before starting this.
———————————————————————
sona it's nice of you to pay for the day for gita and all, but i still don't get how you just sent a person working on the show to some random house to go do decor there....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh boy. mhatre murdered his sweet wife. god, i had hoped he'd never darken our doorway again.
Tumblr media
so nethra just came in here with this terrible news for some "i told you so"-ing? kinda disturbing.
Tumblr media
you know when someone's like "best part hai ki tumhara koi lena dena nahi hai........" that it's going to have hella lotsa lena dena with the person here.
lol nethra is a little too optimistic about the law and order in our country, no?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
these police officers are not as imposing as they think they are.
Tumblr media
i just realised that this is a fake book. coz first off, 10th standard has just one combined textbook for all the three sciences. secondly, majaaal hai jo ncert textbooks are this glossy and attractive and spur students to have even the sliiiiiiiiiightest urge to study from them. #cbseSurvivor #dontAsk #stillNotOverTheTrauma
Tumblr media
dr. surgeon approves of efforts put in. dude, don't you know highlighting is the easiest way to waste time and make it look like you're studying when you’re not??? god he must have been one of those sach mein padhaai karne waala types.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
DOST/DOCTOR/FAKE BOYFRIEND CAN IDENTIFY BAD MOOD. ASKSJADLAKS HONESTLY ROHIT.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
lmaooooooooooo yeah right, mr. death is just a flat line to me. ek patient coma mein chali gayi and you can't handle it, baaaat karte ho.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OK YOU'RE TAKING YOUR FAKE BOYFRIEND DUTIES A LITTLE TOO SRSLY, MATE. THIS IS SOME REAL BOYFRIEND SHIT.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
yaaaaaaaaaas, she asked him about raima. and he has some nonsense gyaan that he doesn't really believe. sir, you are simply having a good couple of days coz you're suppressing your real issues with this drama. please go to a real therapist, work on your issues, and genuinely move the fuck on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
her jamaofying rob on him. tooooooooo cute. i love it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sona musing about what state their relationship will be in when they finish this drama and if they'll still be as close has me so surprised. she has the most sorted head on her shoulders i have ever seen on a character in tellywood. i keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, but she keeps pleasantly surprising me!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
idhar the sippy matriarchs are hellbent on acquiring sonakshi as bahu. whether she or rohit want it or not.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
omfg. this one's screaming. we had a good few weeks without it and i'd forgotten how unpleasant it was.
Tumblr media
this twit just wants the gossip on what sona di did ~this time~. god.
Tumblr media
akash toh idhar bhi aa dhamka to snoop on decor. uncle, aapko aaj kal kaam pe nahi jaana kya?
Tumblr media
at least he seems to like sona, which.... small mercies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ughhhhhhhhhhh pariiiiiiii i hate you. you're such a troublemaker. also i know you're just using this as an excuse to call rohan. ugh ugh ugh UGH.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
poor tanya. i feel such rage on her behalf, i swear to god.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THESE THREE ARE THE WORST. NOTHING GOOD COMES OF IT WHEN THEY COMBINE THEIR AWFULNESS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
lmaooooooooooooooooooooo rohan's lameass line didn't work on pari. i love it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh my god, i hate pari so much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ok kuch zyaaaaaaada hi buildup.
Tumblr media
still can't take this paplu-taplu cop duo seriously.
Tumblr media
also this guy’s shoddy pagdi is annoying me. there was literally no need to make him a sikh if you ppl couldn’t do it right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hahahahahahaha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh god ishqbaaaz trauma coming back. *clutches chest*
Tumblr media
arre waah, nishi ko "tacky serial actress" ka decor pasand aa gaya?
Tumblr media
lol ajit ko idhar kahin pe khada kar do. he's already in the floral theme.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i agree with rohit. it's all too fucking much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
wow nishi defending it to rohit!
i hope this level-headedness of hers comes up again in other situations re: sona too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i mean, i don't love the look (i like her in simpler stuff like what she did for teejri, than so done up) but i am fully here for rohit's reaction!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
haaye what a confidence boost!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
snort.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
vimmi ke liye toh tyohaar sonakshi ka bday hoga. (guess rohit will join in too from this year....)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
lmao rohit pushing pesky little brother away, and him springing right back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i honestly love ajit the most. cutest little bean ever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"vimmiji, aapne agar ek baar aur PARVATIJI kaha, toh main aapko PARVATIJI ke yaahan kaam karne bhej doonga."
oh god, sona singing the shirali tune of everyone getting coordinated outfits and theme and all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"real life mein log kapde repeat kar sakte hain!" and yet, we rarely see YOU in the same outfit more than once?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"jaisa hai tumhara hai." uh no thnx, apna defective maal iske matthe daalne ki koshish mat karo!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

India is a vast country with different religions, traditions, faith and values and so does the Indian weddings are full of traditions, rituals which hold religious as well as emotional values to each and every function held on weddings.
And from many traditions and customs, there is one most important ritual in Sikh/ Punjabi  bride known as “Chooda and kalire rasam”
Both these ceremonies are held on the morning of the wedding day at the bride’s place.
What is a Chooda?
Chooda means a set of bangles,  traditionally means a set of 21 bangles in red and white/ ivory. Earlier chooda was made with haathidaant (elephant tusks) but now they are made from plastic.
Tumblr media
Why it is worn??
Chooda is said to bring good luck for the newlyweds. Also, red is a very important colour for a married woman in India as it strengthens the bond between a couple. Fertility and prosperity are also associated with the chooda, and it is worn for a minimum period of 40 days and maximum for 1.5 years after the wedding.
Like in Hindu weddings bride is supposed to wear “Mangalsutra” & “Sindoor” for his husband sakes, and also a sign of a married woman likewise Sikh / Punjabi bride wears “CHOODA” as in Sikhism married women do not wear “Sindoor” or “mangalsutra” but in some Punjabi traditions they do wear.
Tumblr media
When it is worn and by whom?
It is worn on the morning of a wedding day. The chooda is put on a bride’s wrist by the mama “Maternal Uncle”.
In some places, the bride is not allowed to see her chooda and sits with her eyes clothes. They say if you see your chooda before the wedding it is inauspicious. So after the chooda is put, it is covered with a cloth.
Tumblr media
  Chooda Rasam/Ritual
On the wedding morning, after bride took her bath known as ” Khaare Laana”, the chooda ceremony will be performed. The chooda is put into “Kachhi Lassi” ( mixing milk and water together), yes not only milk but milk and water.
Tumblr media
Yes, It is worn after the bath, final bath of a bride to be in her own home as after this she will be a married woman. So, after putting the chooda into a bowl of “kachhi Lassi”, the maternal uncle will start putting the chooda on a bride to be wrist and following, maternal uncle’s wife and then the brothers can perform this ritual.
Tumblr media
Chooda comes in “Nanki Shakk” ( Gifts from mom’s side Family). In Sikh Wedding, Bridal wear and Chooda is given by them.
Pro Tip:  When you put Chooda into kachhi, please do not remove the thread and mix into that mixture, As chooda is ” small in size from the front and larger from the back”, and if you mix it, possibilities of wearing it wrong. So, make sure you do not cut the thread and if you do, there are numbers on the inside of chooda, put it according to the numbers.
There is a variety of chooda, from colours to design to anything you name and it’s in the market.
Nowadays brides can select colours like pink, maroon, orange, white to match their chooda to their bridal outfit.
The number of bangles has now been replaced by sets so you can opt for a single, double or triple set. The designs traditionally had red dots on the white bangles but now flashy rhinestones and Swarovski are also used.
Customised Chooda, yes! you heard it right you can customise the chooda like * You can get it with bride and grooms name on it. * Pictures of bride and groom etc.
In Punjabi tradition, A puja or havan is usually organised during the chooda ceremony. The bangles are first purified with milk and rose petals. Before it is put on the bride’s wrist by her maternal uncle, all the close relatives touch the chooda as a mark of their blessings. After that, the wrist is covered with a white cloth, as the bride cannot see the chooda until the time of the wedding ceremonies.
  What not to do??
You can not change or remove the “Chooda” once it wore at least for minimum 40 days.
You cannot remove it by your own, there is a small ritual called ” Chooda wadhana” (Removal of chooda).Chooda Wadhana:Bride’s sister in law (husband’s sister) can only remove the Chooda and then some gifts have been given to her by a bride, it can be anything. And if a bride wants to wear it for a longer time, Sister in law will remove only two bangles from each hand and put it back on her hand.Note:  Make sure you do not remove all bangles and only two has to be removed and put it back if a bride wants to wear it as it is. If all bangles are out you cannot wear it back.
Tumblr media
Why you cannot remove or change it?
A bride wore it for a husband, and this ritual is performed by bride’s maternal uncle. and it held an emotional as well a belief that it is “worn for husband”.  It is a sign of Married Women.
  Kalire
Kalire are umbrella shaped hangings which were earlier made of silver or dry coconut and makhana that are encrusted with dried beetle nuts and dry fruits. The significance is to provide good wishes to the bride and to remind her of her cousins and friends whom she is going to leave behind when she gets married. Also, the coconut-shaped of the kalire is symbolic that she never runs out of food in the new home, while the metal symbolises wealth and prosperity But now the modern kaliras are made of metal and studded with rhinestones.
Tumblr media
When it is worn & whom?
These are worn after the chooda ceremony when the bride is all dressed up in her bridal wear. Kaleere are gifted by Bride’s sisters, friends and close relatives
Yes, worn after when the bride is all dressed up so the kaleere don’t get tangled.
After the kalire are tied, a bride makes all her unmarried friends and she shakes her hands on their heads. It is believed that if any part or the kalire fall on the head of any girl she will get married soon.
Tumblr media
Often there are dried beetle nuts, dry fruits and coconut encrusted on the kalire. These are available in various designs and sizes, and one can pick according to their choice.
Tumblr media
What not to do?
You cannot remove it once it is worn until you reached your new home ( inlaw ) house.
You cannot remove it your own, Sister in law (Husband sister) will do this favour.
What to do with them?
You can save them in their box or also use it as a decor in the house.
Tumblr media
  XOXO PC
Significance Of Chooda And Kalire India is a vast country with different religions, traditions, faith and values and so does the Indian weddings are full of traditions, rituals which hold religious as well as emotional values to each and every function held on weddings.

Charlotte, NC Sikh Wedding by Peter Nguyen Studio
Pamela and  Rajveer were ready to finish their grand wedding celebrations with a sensational post-ceremony soirée planned by Eventrics Weddings and designed by Occasions by Shangri-la! This time the lush florals reigned inside the sophisticated ballroom of The Ballantyne, A Luxury Collection Hotel which offered an excellent experience of elegance while the pink color theme kept providing a beautiful and impactful flair that was beyond brilliant. The beautiful Pamela turned heads under the striking floral arch that crowned the wedding stage wearing a beautiful light cyan color gown, she looked effortlessly pretty with loose waves by Makiaj Beauty next to her new beau Rajveer, who chose a swank black outfit! Cake Expressions by Lisa baked an exquisite cake masterpiece which was specially decorated to match the wedding theme, while Xtrahot DJS Entertainment also delighted the partygoers with an excellent music selection. Peter Nguyen Studio captured the beautiful couple in a pre-party photo session that I'm absolutely head over heels for! What To Wear To An Indian Wedding
The ‘big fat Indian wedding’ is an epitome of fun, tradition, colors, and a larger than life celebration of a match made in heaven. But the best part about an Indian wedding is not the complex rituals, the elaborate menu or the pomp and show. It’s the clothes that truly make a ‘shandaar shaadi’ what it is!
In case you have no idea what to wear, especially to the long list of pre-wedding functions you’ll have to attend, we’re here to help. We’ll give you the lowdown on the Indian wedding wear dos and don’ts and will even suggest the kind of outfits you should wear so you can look your absolute best!
Let’s get started!
The Haldi Ceremony
Indian_Wedding[Instagram]
First up is the haldi function, which as you know, is the smearing of turmeric on the bride and groom so that their skin glows on their wedding day. This function can get very messy so make sure you wear something you don’t mind getting bright yellow stains on! That said, don’t wear something old either. A salwar kameez in pastel shades such as pink, yellow or orange would be best.
As for men, you can either wear the classic tee and jeans combo or opt for a plain kurta pajama.
The Mehendi Ceremony
Indian_Wedding[Instagram]
From the ochre-yellow of the haldi to the copper-brown of the mehendi, there’s no denying that an Indian wedding is a transition from one color to the next! And just like the haldi ceremony, the mehendi or henna ceremony is an equally slather-ish affair!
So, girls go ahead and wear something comfy for this function, as once the henna is on your hands, you’ll be left pretty much immobile. Although you can wear decent casuals, refrain from sweatpants, hoodies, and shorts. A nice kurti with leggings or pants will do just fine too.
For guys, this function is all about gatecrashing and going over the wedding planning details one last time while sipping on their favorite cocktail. So, keep the attire light and semi-casual. Khakis are a good option.
The Sangeet
Indian_Wedding[Instagram]
From this function onwards, it’s all about dressing up. Dressing up and killing it that is! Since this is a party and it’s all about song and dance, don’t shy away from bold colors and heavy embroidery. Although, try to save your A-game for the wedding!
Women should definitely consider wearing a nice floor length Anarkali salwar kameez or a flared lehenga choli to this event. A sari à la Deepika Padukone from the Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani-fame will look great too!
Men should also dress up for this affair. A bright kurta pajama will look festive and feel comfy at the same time, allowing for those killer dance moves! A suit is a good option too as long as you can dance in it.
The Wedding
Indian_Wedding[Instagram]
And finally, we’re at the wedding! This is the time to put your best foot forward and let the world know that your style game is top notch. Try to wear rich fabrics that add to the grandeur of the Indian wedding.
Ladies, play up with make-up and get all of those accessories out! Try to keep it ethnic to the extent possible with beautiful embroidered gowns or lehenga cholis or even salwar kameez. Opt for a nice hairdo too, that accentuates your outfit and makes you look like a million bucks!
Gentlemen, a bandhgala with Jodhpuri pants is what we’ll recommend. You can also wear a richer kurta pajama and even a fancy suit for this occasion. Slick back, gelled hair will make sure you look your dapper best.
The Reception
Indian_Wedding[Instagram]
This function is about sobering it down just a notch from the wedding and playing it elegant and classy. So maybe pick out that one dress you always thought was too fancy and sophisticated to wear anywhere else.
Women can opt for graceful sarees in silk, crepe, chiffon or even georgette for this occasion. Try experimenting with the way you drape your saree to look unique. You can also wear an evening gown that doesn’t show too much skin.
A classic suit and tie would be the perfect choice for men! However, try not to repeat the same kind of outfit you wore to the wedding as it can get drab.
The above suggestions aside, you need to follow a couple of rules which are as follows:
Avoid wearing pure black or white to the wedding.
Try to dress up slightly conservative, which means minimal cleavage and leg show as Indian weddings are conservative.
Never forget to accessorize! Bangles, bindis, necklaces, payals – wear what looks good on you.
Keep a scarf, dupatta or a shawl handy as for some types of Indian weddings (Sikh or Islamic ones) you may have to cover your head.
This is the season of weddings, and we hope that you’re now better prepared to handle the monumental challenge of ‘what to wear to an Indian wedding.’ One last advice? Don’t forget to wear that dazzling smile!

Troy, MI Indian Wedding by Capturing Arts
Today’s love tale is has been brewing for the past thirteen years and now we can finally divulge all the love details as well as the amazing Indian wedding on Maharani Weddings! After eyeing each other, the couple finally got bold and developed the relationship further. Fast forward to present times and Sonia and Hardev realized that forever wouldn’t be complete if they couldn’t share it together. Mrs. Grewal got ready for her Sikh and Hindu wedding ceremony with Tammy Pore and Tanja Dedivanaj. Because the couple both come from a Hindu and Sikh background, it was important for the two ceremonies to be celebrated. In one day. Did we mention that the reception was later on that night? Phew! Well, thank god that the couple hired on a wedding planner to ensure that everything ran seamlessly! The staff at Petruzzellos worked tirelessly to make sure that the bride got fairytale wedding. For her Punjabi ceremony, the bride went for a Pretty in Pink theme with a crushed pink and sparkling gold wedding lengha. The outfit was the perfect contrast to Hardev’s silk sherwani with matching pink turban. I absolutely adored the bridal henna designed created by Ekta Sha-Kansara. A timely classic is implementing a Raja and Rani theme interwoven on the back of your hands and this mehndi artist did a brilliant job. After the bride was all glammed up, it was time for ceremony number one! As the ceremony commenced, guests began to switch gears and Sonia had to start the transformation process! Head into the gallery for a gorgeous set of images captured by Capturing Arts.   http://dlvr.it/NR9yTw

Long Beach, California Indian Wedding by Robles Video Production
Today’s film highlight captured by Robles Video Production is one that encompasses Bollywood flair, fusion of customs and design wear for the ages. Maharani Amanjeet and Sudhir wanted to blend both of their backgrounds, Sikh and Hindu, into their special day and held two different ceremonies at the ballroom at the Hyatt Long Beach California. The pre festivities included a colorful sangeet and mehndi night with henna artist Neha Assar. I am floored with the design work of this artist and looking forward to more of her work in 2017! One of my favorite baraat entrances to date is the waterfront gondola ride to the Hyatt Long Beach California. Can you say unique and creative? The baraat ceremony was led by none other than Northern California’s infamous dhol player Malinder Tooray who rocked the entrance! The couple donned a matching coral pink and silver ensemble. I anticipate a large number of brides leaning towards a slate gray or silver lengha and Maharani Amanjeet most certainly has set the bar! Maharaja was simply just dapper in a designer piece sherwani that was both charismatic and sophisticated. It’s no surprise to see a bride don over the top outfits but I was elated with Amanjeet’s bridesmaids floral saalwaar kammez’s! The way these ladies shined coming down the aisle before the bride was just so picturesque! The Sikh wedding was followed by a customary Hindu ceremony with that was decorated with detail in mind by Bloom Box Designs. The following day the venue was transformed by Bloom Box Designs into a party haven that was full of performances, dance offs and family fun! The bride was a stunner in a twinkling red and gold lengha that was a nod to classic Bollywood royalty. No reception party would be complete without the euphonic harmony and Vik Dhillon of Sound Nation made sure this party never skipped a beat! A Panache Affair certainly knows their way around the wedding circuit and designed a wedding any Maharani could appreciate. We are excited to feature this wedding in its entirety and are anxiously awaiting the stills from Greycard Photography. This film calls for a steaming cup of chai with an extended highlight you are just going to love! http://dlvr.it/N6yrtR
