Dear transmascs,

I love y'all, I appreciate your posts and find solidarity in your struggles. But please, PLEASE could you acknowledge that some (many) trans people who don't identify as transmasc share in the same struggles? Please could you acknowledge non-transmasc (afab) non-binary/genderqueer people in your posts that also affect them once in a while? Could you please NOT co-opt the death of a NON-BINARY trans person to talk about how transmascs are oppressed for being transmasculine? Like, yes, there are overlaps between transandrophobia and enbyphobia (and transmisogyny) and these are important to talk about but please realise that you can do this WITHOUT erasing non-binary people who do not identify as transmasc.

Idk maybe this seems like a non-issue to a lot of people but it's honestly deeply fucking upsetting to me, as an (afab) genderqueer person. I'm not saying you have to make all posts about transmasc people about non-binary people as well but please just. When something is ABOUT a non-binary person and that person doesn't explicitly identify as transmasc, please, please don't erase their identity and make it ONLY about the experience of being transmasc??

man i don't know why but i can't trust people who erase canon information about a character just to label them a sexuality that doesn't even make sense

#yes i am looking at the shit ton of lesbians who just happen to ignore female characters who just dated men #or dated men for the majority of their storyline #to label them as lesbians #i swear to god the amount of times i saw agatha with that lesbian flag sticker #and worst of all she does kiss woman!!! but she is bisexual!!! explicitly confirmed!!!!!#but still she has her sexuality erased!!!! since kissing women isn't enough for some sapphics #i remember seeing a post a few days ago #which loosely said that some folks are so desperate for queer validation they'll do harmful/disrespectful things #to those they deem their icons #this discourse was obviously tied to queer ppl disrespecting artists #especifically jimin since so many queer folks just love to misgender him and label him as trans #and also to taylor swift and her insane group of fans who swear to god she's a closeted lesbian #but i also think about how common this very intentional and deliberate behavior has become inside fandom spaces #where ppl just erase a character's sexuality or gender identity just to make themselves feel better about their own identities #but like #at what costs #at the cost of erasing true representation when the character is indeed lgbt just not the sexuality/gender you wanted them to be?#this is so tiring and that's why i absolutely run away from fandom spaces for a long time now

i think desc is such an interesting world to explore in terms of how it can force a character’s complicity. in that it is quite literally canon that an entire world turned their backs on a population - whether eagerly, willingly, or unwillingly due to lack of power, influence, understanding, or plain indifference. like i think if theres a universe to dive into this, it’s desc. because if one were to create a verse or write characters from it and make it divergent so that they never supported the isle, or broke away from the kingdom of auradon, it . wouldn’t work. simply because doing so is kinda lowkey impossible in terms of the lore and also heavily reduces the damage that’s been done towards the isle residents, taking away the ugly realities of their struggles.

#it gives me the ick when ppl join desc and be like nah nahhh my character is DIFFERENT!#they would have become a sovereign nation and single-handedly provided support to the isle !!! Thinking about how "portraying cures to disabilities/illnesses as being a reward for good behavior, universally desirable, or have more moral and ethical weight than living with disability is ableist" rapidly and aggressively became "if your disabled characters' conditions change in any way for the better you're erasing disabilities and are ableist" and going a little bit insane

Like y'all the curing disabilities trope is about impractical deus ex machina fixes that are utilized just because the reality of being disabled is viewed as a tragedy. Magically making people sighted or hearing, giving paralyzed people the ability to walk and having them ditch their wheelchairs, or benevolently bestowing missing or restoring parts (often wings) with no regard to how it might work in a realistic (for the setting) scenario. That's it.

The way people act like mobility aids are the only valid way to work with disability in fiction is just so irritating. Like did you forget implants, prosthetics, transplants, medications, and surgeries all exist IRL? None of those things make someone abled and disabled people are not all visibly disabled at any point in time.

It's just so limiting to me and I say that as someone who adores mobility aids both IRL and in fiction. Sorry disabled characters can be nuanced i fucking guess

tbh snooping on my ex doesnt even hurt bc of him directly atp- im glad he's getting better and happier. what hurts is seeing ppl who claimed that no matter what they'd be there for us both who chose him bc he played victim so well

#like these ppl literally would be like omg we need to get to know each otehr better #and then when i would try to spend quality time with them he would insert himself or 'suddenly' have a crisis #and i would have to do damage control #to the point i snapped #and the first 2 times i snapped were angry and violent (suicide attempt and kicking him out almost 1y apart) i wont deny it #but like i immediately became the bad guy #nevermind all the shit he did to me! they immediately believed him cause he's a poor little white guy who is easy to infantilize #honestly this is the msot ive talked abt this here cause im STILL scared of him seeing my accts #i dont even think he'd do much atp but like the fact that i had to erase my ENTIRE online self to get away from him fully #cause the first time i didnt and he made Multiple accts to get me back #and preyed on the fact im a little gullible and was suffering from extreme paranoia #and its like..... This is how I look at other people living their successful lives while mine races towards total annihilation

It’s always very weird to me how much hate IDW OP gets in comparison to characters that are as bad or worse. Like, if hate for IDW OP was just “he’s an asshole and does xyz things,” I would get that, but the vast majority of the hate I see for him is just calling him an asshole with no particular explanation as to why. More puzzlingly, I see “IDW OP is an asshole” coming from the mouths of people who simultaneously stan characters like Pr/owl (also a cop, committed war crimes, constantly manipulates and uses people) and Mega/tron (genocidal dictator, racist against organics, generally violent and fucked up) so like???

It doesn’t seem like the problem is that IDW OP is an asshole, it seems to me like the problem is very specifically that it’s Optimus. For some reason people are just absolutely allergic to the idea of Optimus being morally gray to match a morally gray continuity. Somehow Optimus and Optimus alone is a horrible asshole who doesn’t ever deserve to be acknowledged even though the same people have no problems liking characters from the same comics who are as bad or worse? And it’s quite disappointing because it seems like in that case, it’s less about IDW OP being an asshole and more about the fact that people haven’t actually read the story and don’t care about the context/reasoning for IDW OP’s actions.

That or they just want every Optimus to be a happy silly dad or a depressed uwu dad (but only depressed in a cute and palatable way, never depressed in a way that leads to lashing out and bad decisions and social isolation), so they hate IDW OP for not being the cardboard cutout they want him to be. Instead of just... reading the OP that’s on the page and judging him based on the standards of IDW1 and the type of story IDW1 is.

- she was playing with this one toy that was a little fishing reel, and it had string and a little fish on the bottom. she went on and onnn about how shes a self proclaimed “fishing master” while garf chased it around, letting out little meows and growls of frustration.

- eventually, she lost her grip and let go of the pole. she bent down to pick it up, forgetting that her face would be in view. thus, the chat started blowing up.

- or she would know , and would literally be like “they’re honestly super annoying and i would rather kill myself than watch them but whatever floats ur boat ig!”

- she played that “womp womp womp womppp” sound effect on her soundboard afterwards.

- SPEAKING OF. she abuses that soundboard sooo much. its so obnoxious and annoying like I SWEARRR!!! she’ll tell a horrible pun and play the crowd laughing and cheering sound effects while literally no one laughed.
