I guess I don't have to tell anybody that today is March 17th, the feast day of Saint Patrick of Ireland. Patrick is well known for having banished all the snakes from Ireland. But not everybody knows the story about a particular snake he fought.

According to a folk tale, there lived a giant serpent in Lough Muskry near Tipperary, so nobody dared to go near the lake. But Patrick came to the lake, had a long discussion with the creature and convinced it to stay at the bottom of the lake until Judgement day.

Every St. Patricks day (Easter Sunday according to other versions), the snake comes to the surface, asks if it's Judgement day yet, and then disappears again.

Other stories tell that when Patrick had banished the snakes from ireland, one snake called Lig na Paiste remained and was later banished to the ground of Lough Foyle by Staint Murrough O’ Heaney.

EVEN THO YESTERDAY WAS SAINT PATRICK'S DAY IMMA TELL THIS STORY ANYWAYS IM A JEHOVAH WITNESS AND A RULE IS WE'RE NOT ALLOWED TO CELEBRATE HOILDAYS. COOL, ALRIGHT, OKAY. BUT WHEN I WAS A FIRST GRADER, I REMEMBER THIS MEAN ASS THIRD GRADER THAT WAS ALSO A JW. SO ON SAINT PATRICK'S DAY, I FORGOT I WASNT SUPPOSE TO WEAR GREEN. BUT I ACCIDENTALLY WORE A PINK AND GREEN SHIRT. SO MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS AT THE PLAYGROUND, THIS BITCH ASS THIRD GRADER COMES UP TO ME. AND STARTS SAYING HOW JEHOVAH IS REALLY MAD AT ME FOR WEARING GREEN ON STAINTS PATRICKS DAY AND HOW I SHOULD BE DISAPPOINTED. AND HELL HAVE BEEN LET LOOSE BECAUSE I THOUGHT WHAT I WAS DOING WAS A SIN. SO I START CRYING AND THE YARD DUTY RUNS TO US AND ASK WHAT HAPPENED. HE POINTS TO ME AND SAYS "SHE'S WEARING GREEN AND WE'RE NOT ALLOWED TOO" BITCH I THOUGHT AFTER THAT, I WAS GONNA BE SUSPENDED, AND KICK OUT MY CHURCH. THEN THANK GOD, ANOTHER FIRST GRADER COMES ALONG AND SAYS WHAT HE DID THATS WHY I WILL NEVER WEAR GREEN ON SAINTS PATRICKS DAY EVER AGAIN. I DONT CARE IF I GET PINCHED A THOUSAND TIMES DURING THE DAY, THAT BITCH ASS THIRD GRADER DID THIS TO ME
