🍬🍭 SUGAR RUSH LOOKBOOK | GUMMY BEAR

Meet Gralxins Gummy Bear. “The gummy bear originated in Germany... Gum arabic was the original base ingredient used to produce the gummy bears, hence the name gum or gummy. Hans Riegel Sr., a confectioner, started the Haribo company in 1920. In 1922, inspired by the trained bears seen at street festivities in Europe, he created the Dancing Bear, a small, affordable, fruit-flavored gum candy treat.”

Does this sim look like a gummy bear? No. She does have gummy bear earrings, so...

🍬🍭SUGAR RUSH LOOKBOOK SERIES | CARAMEL

Meet Carolina Caramel. Her looks are an inspiration from the sweet treat of caramel.  “It is recorded that about 1650 American settlers were making hard candies in kettles. Between this time and the early 1880's, a candy maker added fat and milk while boiling sugar and water, creating what is now known as caramel.”  If it interests you here is a recipe to make your very own caramel. Recipe! I have made it myself and it is a perfect topping for ice cream.

🍬🍭 SUGAR RUSH LOOKBOOK | CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE

Meet Colette Cookie “The chocolate chip cookie was invented by American chefs Ruth Graves Wakefield and Sue Brides in 1938. They invented the recipe during the period when she owned the Toll House Inn, in Whitman, Massachusetts. Wakefield stated that she deliberately invented the cookie. She said, "We had been serving a thin butterscotch nut cookie with ice cream...So I came up with Toll House cookie." The original recipe is called "Toll House Chocolate Crunch Cookies". Wakefield gave Nestle the recipe for her cookies & was paid with a lifetime supply of chocolate from the company.”

She was inspired by Cotton Candy. “Cotton candy as we know it was first created in 1897 when a dentist named William Morrison joined forces with a confectioner by the name of John C. Wharton. Together, the duo created a machine that spun heated sugar through a screen, creating the floss-like texture that we all know and love.”

🍬🍭SUGAR RUSH LOOKBOOK SERIES | MARSHMALLOW

Meet Monica Marshmallow. She was inspired by the delicate sweet, marshmallows. “The Egyptians squeezed sap from the mallow plant and mixed it with nuts and honey. However, no one knows what the candy looked like in those times. The French were introduced to marshmallow in the early to mid-1800s. Owners of small candy stores whipped sap from the mallow root into a fluffy candy mold.”  If it interests you here is a recipe to make your very own marshmallows. Recipe! I have yet to make them, but they are on my baking bucket list.

She is inspired by the Halloween treat of candy corn. “According to oral tradition, George Renninger, a candymaker at the Wunderlee Candy Company in Philadelphia, invented the revolutionary tricolor candy in the 1880s. The Goelitz Confectionery Company brought the candy to the masses at the turn of the 20th century. ”

🍬🍭 SUGAR RUSH LOOKBOOK | BLACK LICORICE

Meet Becky Licorice. She was inspired by the bitter tasting candy of licorice, red licorice’s evil cousin. “ Licorice root has been used since ancient times. The Egyptians made a sweet drink using the root which they called “Mai sus” and they believed it to be a cure-all for a wide range of afflictions. The modern style of licorice candy we know today began to emerge in Holland, and to this day Dutch youth are known to drop a piece of licorice root into a water bottle to sweeten the water. This is because licorice contains glycyrrhizin, a compound that is said to be 30-50 times sweeter than sugar. That’s what makes licorice candy so delicious!”
