Coffee with “Karam” 🤣
Coffee with ‘Karaam’ 🤣: My quick take on Amazon’s web series “Sweet Karaam Coffee” Unlike the glossy and gossipy talk show कॉफ़ी with करण, this coffee is endearing ,entertaining series packed with some delectable moments. For me it was a refurbished plot of “Zindagi naa milegi dubara” where instead of Farhan, Hritik and Abhay who embark on a 3 week road trip in Spain, here three ladies from…

Karam on a Sunday
@thedemonconstantine + talia al ghul & june moone
Gods spare you from the hospitality of an Arab determined to prove herself worthy of her husband. One of the very very few traditions of her father that she still embraced to this day, if you are hosting you must serve until your guest felt as if they were family in your home.
Fattoush all cut up in the fridge ready for the table, the dough for the manakeesh starter in a bowl covered with a wet tea towel to encourage the yeast, lamb shoulder roasting gently with the herbed potatoes and vegetables consisting of parsnip, carrot, broccoli and swede, Talia’s hair in a bun to keep it off her face and off the food.
John had occasionally found a long black hair in his food, the risk of your woman having such long flowing hair.
“There’s my handsome man” Talia purred the moment the door opened.
Tumblr media
“Shoes off please.” Talia went to greet grabbing the dallah full of coffee to host them fluffing up the best of their pillows for Chas. “We will have food on the dinner table when the friend arrives- until then may I serve you some coffee?”
Talia then brought milk and sugar as John took his coffee sweet and perhaps Chas and June were not the fondest of the strong coffee she liked and prefered to dilute it.
Two glasses of water for the boys and she poured them the coffee, the good Qahwa styled coffee that she liked. Strong more bitter but full of flavor.
A tray of dates to go with it as well as a small plate of biscuits for that’s what English homes served.
Talia served herself last and took a seat with them.
“How was the match boys?” she asked drinking her coffee black and unsweetened.

A  VERY  DESCRIPTIVE  PROFILE  OF  YOUR  MUSE.   repost with the information of your muse,  including headcanons,  etc.  if you fail to achieve some of the facts,  add some other of your own !
Tumblr media
NAME.    Tomoaki Katsumura (otherwise known as; tomo katsumura) NICKNAME(S).   Strictly speaking, Tomo is a nickname ALIAS(ES).   N / A AGE.    25 SPECIES.    Human GENDER.   Cis male, he/him ORIENTATION.  Bisexual; only really out in public bc his pr team suck. Probably very out in private bc he’s a bit of a shagger (not a judgement). INTERESTS.  Film (both as someone who enjoys the medium and as an actor), acting, fashion, partying, doing dumb reckless shit because it’s funny....also, despite owning a sizeable Tamagotchi collection, he’s not actually that interested in the Tamagotchi franchise itself. He justs thinks they’re cute and likes owning a shit ton of them bc I guess he has too much money?? PROFESSION.   Film actor (emphasis on film; might do tv sometimes but really prefers not to), occasional model. BODY TYPE.   Skinny, a little toned but still just quite thin overall. Ectomorph. Any tone comes from being quite active anyway but he refuses to dedicate himself to proper workouts as he finds that whole realm of things boring. If a role demands he work on this, he’ll pass on it. You get Tomo as he is or you get fuck all. EYES.    Dark brown. Has been known to wear coloured lens for The Aesthetic but that’s about it. HAIR.   The colour changes a lot; he likes a bright, vibrant red but he also keeps his hair darker a lot for the sake of work. He’s not often encouraged to dye his hair alternative colours for roles. The exact style varies too, sometimes there’s an undercut and sometimes he lets it grow out, but it’s usually on the slightly longer side (but the length varies too bc he can’t stick with anything for too long) and stylistically shaggy. He tries to take very good care of his hair despite dying it a lot. SKIN.    He’s rich and famous so, to nobody’s surprise I’m sure, he has the money and connections to keep his skin in good condition. Rarely a blemish, soft and well-hydrated! Average medium skin tone. FACE.    I don’t know how to describe face shapes so I’m not going to try <3 High cheekbones, defined jawline, uhhh can you tell idk what I’m talking about,,,,, HEIGHT.  176cm / 5′9″ COMPANIONS.  His friends <33 also any director that encourages him to do his own thing bc he loves that actually ANTAGONISTS.      His own PR team LMAO....anybody who limits him unfairly, I guess? He doesn’t like being held back, especially if it’s people want him to conform to some kind of ideal. He’s also had several co-stars he hasn’t loved; he’s befriended more musicians than he has actors. COLORS.    Bright and vibrant colours. Deep reds, strong purples, bright blue and cyan. Anything with a strong kind of neon and argon vibe to it. For clothes, however, he wears a lot of blacks and whites. Colour is usually just a highlight point. FRUITS.   Probably anything with a bit of tang. Oranges but only when they’re actually nice and fresh. Strawberries are nice too but the same thing applies. For flavours (i.e; sweets and stuff), he’s partial to a lil green apple and green grape. DRINKS.  Iced coffees are a popular one. Don’t think he should have the caffeine but it’s whatever. Likes most sodas probably. Has no preference between Coke and Pepsi but sometimes drinks Pepsi on purpose to piss off his friend who has much stronger feelings about it. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES?   Yes, absolutely. BUT!! I don’t drink so I don’t know enough about this topic to actually give a smart and accurate answer (incl. examples of drinks) that I could confidently say sums up the Tomo Experience. But Tomo does drink when he’s partying. I don’t know if he’s actually picky about drinks but he thinks stuff like beer, whisky and so on are for people with no taste. SMOKES?   I think I decided he did at some point. Maybe he’d vape /: DRUGS?  Very casually, and he only sticks to stimulants and party drugs, but he does do them. Again, mostly at parties. The real Young, Troubled and Famous experience. DRIVERS LICENSE?   Yes, and he owns a car / is a decent enough driver but mostly only out of spite bc of that whole thing where he deliberately drove his car into a tree. He didn’t like that he had a reputation for being a bad driver but, if it weren’t for that, he would have probably driven into a tree by mistake at some point.
TAGGED  BY  :    @lovedfor (thank youuuu!!) TAGGING  :    first of all? ME. bc i wanna do this for karam too. but also literally anybody who sees this. if you see this and you wanna do it, feel free to say i tagged you so i can read your post and be nosy (:<

Gettin’ Revved in Motor City
Preface: Gotta set the mood.
youtube
Fun fact: did y’all know that the “Mo” in Motown is short for Motor, as in Motor City? Welcome to Detroit, kids! [windows down, hair blowing, Chevy cruising.]
Mia and I shipped off to Wayne State University last week for two days of American Pilgrimage Project recordings. From the moment we touched down, something was in the air, y’all: This trip was every bit as charmed and groovy as the soundtrack suggests. Let’s map out the magic:
Chapter 1: We deplane hungry and beeline to Greektown, where we find, nestled a block down the road from our digs @ Greektown Casino Hotel, Detroit’s #1 spot for cheap authentic Greek food.
A) It’s called Golden Fleece, which is just danged adorable.
B) FLAMING CHEESE, Y’ALL.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Uh huh. #gottaholdontothisfeeling
Chapter 2: Thanks to Mia’s professional development addiction/mad networking skills, we already have a Monday night wine date lined up with Von Diaz’s cool food journalist/photographer buddies who live in town! We turn up to the designated wine bar, where said cool friends (Martina and Cybelle) are doing a private interview + photoshoot with Nuria, a Barcelonan auto-engineer-turned-Spanish-wine-importer. Because Detroit is seriously bursting with cool, enterprising folk like that. We sip wine, listen in, and play “casually fabulous wine bar patrons” in the background as Cybelle snaps away. We’re such good sports, Nuria and the gang treat us to a full on tapas feast afterwards at La Feria! There were figs and there were churros, but you wouldn’t know it from the photo ‘cause we ate it all right up. (Foodiest Monday ever?!). Check us, all Detroit scenesters-like.
Tumblr media
Chapter 3: Ok, down to business. Our two days of recording kick off REAL early, but hum along like a well-oiled machine, thanks to our trusty point person/esteemed professor Saaed Kahn (featured characteristically mid-anecdote below). LOADS of incredible participants this trip.
Tumblr media
Day One’s highlight is Rebecca Karam’s interview of her mother, Lisa, with Mia facilitating. As they discuss the role Catholicism has played in Lisa’s life, Lisa reveals -  much to her daughter’s surprise! -  that these days she’s not only cut ties to Catholicism; she actually no longer considers herself a Christian. Rebecca’s natural interviewing skills made for a great exploration of these previously uncharted waters!
Tumblr media
Day Two’s highlight was the sweetest Big Bro-Little Sis duo on the planet, Hamzah and Afifa Latif. Hamzah made the drive in from Chicago that morning just to participate (and concluded their interview declaring he’d to it again anytime, from anywhere - anything for his little sis. Sniffle!) Afifa shared some amazing stories  - from her determination to wear her Hijab in elementary school despite some pretty heinous harassment from classmates AND other parents, to sweating bullets (and getting her sweater caught on her chair) when she met with Mark Zuckerberg at her university to talk about online hate speech. Hamzah is in total awe of his sister (rightly so), and it shows:
Tumblr media
Other fascinating conversations include sisters Maya and Leya Maliekal talking about growing up in the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, and Saaed’s daughter Yasmeen talking to her friend Sumayyah about their identities as 2nd generation Indian-American Muslims.
Chapter 4: Somewhere in between Recording Days One & Two, we manage to squeeze in dinner with Mia’s adorable Aunt Betsy and Uncle Jeff AND a visit Detroit’s dopest indie bookshop, Source Booksellers. Mystical shop owner Janet prompts Mia and me to each fish a Tarot card out of a wicker basket and read the interpretation/affirmation associated with our cards aloud in the middle of the bookstore. (Mia thought there might be puppies in the basket, but is satisfied with her fated “Teaching & Learning” affirmation. I, meanwhile, am affirming my “Individuality.” We got to keep the cards. =)
Tumblr media
Chapter 5: It’s our last night in Detroit, and what, you thought we weren’t gonna hit Greektown’s hottest casino on our way out?! Y’all. Please. Slurping our Checkers chocolate milkshakes, we almost get booted by our own Greektown Casino security when I’m caught photoshooting Mia’s highrollin’ craps toss.
Tumblr media
We manage to shake the fuzz though, and good thing too - ‘cause Mia is about to strike GOLD on the slots.
Tumblr media
Chapter 6: Time to go already!? Alright, so we gotta deftly jam Detroit’s best tourism offerings into a single half day. Let’s do this:
A) Coffee from #1 Yelp Rated coffee shop in Detroit + classic shot with the excessively-masculine-but-nonetheless-iconic “Spirit of Detroit” statue: check.
Tumblr media
B) Wander around The Heidelberg Project’s open air community art space to check out installations comprised entirely of Detroit found objects and materials (/Mia hosting Heidelberg Morning Joe?): check.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
C) Sweet-talked free admission into the Detroit Institute of Arts to see Diego Rivera’s masterpiece, the utterly amazing Detroit Industry Murals? CHECK. (Check out these high res images of the North and South walls for better detail - so worth it!)
Tumblr media
D) Grand finale, i.e. a visit to MOTOWN STUDIO, where we legit dance around the studio floor with our tour group singing “My Girl” while Stevie Wonder/Marvin Gaye’s piano silently looks on (and I embarrassingly cry tears of joy through the whole thing)?!? CHECK CHECK CHECK. (sob)
Tumblr media
The tour guide gets to talking about how some dame named “Miss Lily” would grill up hotdogs for the artists. (Apparently to decide which Motown songs would be released as singles, they’d take a vote on how many people, if starving, would still spend their last dime on that record over a Miss Lily hotdog.) Frankly (yuk yuk), all we hear is the word “hotdog,” so we enthusiastically hit up this Drive In/Take Out place Bucharest for some “Detroiter” dogs on our way out to the airport. (Detroit beanie in the foreground represent!)
Tumblr media
All that tourism, AND we made it to the Detroit Metro Airport in time to enroll in TSA Pre-Check. Seriously. #CHARMED. Farewell ‘til the next time, Motor City. It’s gonna be a tough adjustment without you!

The Black Out Bulb (Safety BOB) is a CSA-approved energy-saving LED that uses its built-in, rechargeable battery, during a power outage. This bulb works just like a regular light bulb but it takes no special effort to install, and has an amazing average lifespan of 50,000 hours! It will fit any regular socket, and with the options of soft or bright lighting, in 7 or 9 watts, you still get the same opportunities for creating a mood in your home that you would with conventional bulbs.
