Coorg - A Handy and Quick Travel Guide!
The South of India has a lot of hidden gems and magical places tucked safely in its coastlines. But what you wouldn’t immediately think about is the hill stations there. It has some of the best trails to trek through while enjoying the serenity of nature away from the commotion and heat of the plains. One such gorgeous destination that you can look to is Coorg. Coorg tour packages is all you need to explore and experience this beauty.
Coorg also known as Kodagu is one of the sparsely populated district of Karnataka and the trip to the hill station what you should be packing for right now. This hill station has all you need from grand mountain ranges to roaring waterfalls all encased in the silence of lush green forests. And then suddenly you’ll find yourself amidst clouds that descend down on you like a misty blanket.
Kodagu is best known for its people and the coffee, which is the reason this place is designated as the coffee capital of India. If you are planning a Coorg trip you need an itinerary of the places to visit and things to do because Coorg is sure to leave an impression on you. Here is a quick travel guide to assist you along the way:
1.      Abbey/ Abbi Falls: Located within a private coffee and spice plantation, this 70 foot waterfall is at full power during monsoon and at the beginning of winter because it is joined by a number of rain fed rivers and streams. The waterfall flows into the river Cauvery and has a hanging bridge across it so that you can take in the magnificence from close quarters. There is also a Kali temple on the other side of the bridge and the waterfall itself is a ten-minute walk through the plantation. Getting into the water is a dangerous and impossible feat so do not try to, but you will be splayed by the water on the bridge so carry a small towel.
2.      Tadiyandamol Peak: For the adventurous heart this is the place to be. The second tallest peak in Karnataka and the tallest peak in Kodagu, Tadiyandamol is located at a height of 5370 feet with gentle mountain slopes covered in greenery. It is not too popular a destination so you will be able to enjoy the quietude along with a breath-taking view. It is also an exquisite tail to trek through, surrounded by Shoal forests and streams and you can also camp at its peak but be sure to carry your woollens as it gets quite cold at the top.
3.      Coffee plantations: In any Coorg trip package you will find a trip to the coffee plantations and it is best to take a packaged tour so that you can witness the whole process with your own eyes, the seeds, the collection, and be treated to some premium coffee and even get some souvenirs. It is when you see how the coffee comes from the seeds to the solution in the cup and revel in the smell and sight of the sprawling plantations you will realise why Coorg is the coffee capital of India.
Rajiv Gandhi National Park:
If you are looking for a safari during your
Coorg tour
take one through this national park, also known as Nagarhole National Park. It has over 250 different species of just birds there, along with a range of wild animals. It is a sanctuary for endangered animals and a delightful experience seeing the animals frolic by the streams in their natural habitat.

Nishani motte is a relatively unknown peak in the tala Cauvery/ Brahma Giri range. It lies to the south of Bhagamandala in a range which extends from Talacauvery in the north to Some male in the south in one contiguous stretch without any break, going through peaks like Nishani motte, Tumba male, and Tadiyandamol. This stretch forms the border between Kannur / Kasargod districts in Kerala and Kodagu district in Karnataka. Last year’s attempt to get to Nishani motte landed us in Nishani betta (in a range north of Bhagamandala), and in all sorts of trouble with forest department due to a mining dispute in that area.
