I asked some of my Goodreads friends,who read ACTFL,to share some quotes from the book.One quote is a little bit spoilery,but i will put it at the end of the post,if you do not want to read it.Here are the quotes:

💗💕💞💖💕 appreciation post to stephanie garber for writing fmcs that can truly embrace their femininity without ever feeling ashamed, that her girls can wear the prettiest dresses in the world and have the most courageous kind souls but would fight to the death for those they loved.

appreciation for her fmcs that aren’t perfect, that are absolutely flawed in unique ways but grow over the course of the books, that openly LOVE love! that love isn’t frowned upon, that it plays such a vital part at the core of her stories. the fmcs fight for love and for the people they care about. they make messy messy choices but they learn.

they have different dreams, different hea endings!! and i love how thats narratively absolutely okay !!!! how each girl’s happily ever after is unique to them and appreciated and validated !!! scarlett always wanted her kingdom and she found her perfect flirty prince in the end like she wanted !!! tella wanted the adventures, to always see the world and have her right hand man right there to experience that with her and she got it !!! eva wanted her true love, she wanted to be someone’s everything, to have a love powerful enough to break curses and she deserves that, she has it she found someone who reversed time FOR her !!!

but what i’m saying is: every girl’s dreams and hopes and happily ever afters are different but that doesn’t make one superior to the others. their femininity isn’t seen as a bad thing, their kindness or selflessness or feeling such a wide range of emotions from rage to fear to heartbreak/sadness isn’t seen as weak. its so refreshing to see books like this. i’m a hopelessly romantic girl so to see that makes me so feel understood, so represented and inspired !! it makes me feel hopeful personally. anyways, stan stephanie !!! stan her fmcs !!! 💘💕💞💗💕

Scarlett Dragna, and being the best character on Caraval.

Scarlett Dragna will always have my heart. She’s such an amazing character and she deserves so much better from everyone especially Tella. I’m so glad she has Juillian with her.

I’m so glad she found someone who loves her with his whole everything. Like this girl loves so freely and so beautifully and had never ever felt the same love reciprocated- not even from Tella, until she met Juillian. I’m not saying Tella didn’t love her. They both love each other so much, but Tella doesn’t love Scar as much as Scar loves Tella. Scarlett even acknowledges this.

She’s such an eldest sister. Her sacrifices. Her silent pain. Her unconditional and endless love for Tella even tho she knew Tella would never pick her over everyone like Scar would pick Tella. The way she forgave her birth father, the way she tried to find excuses for her mother in the end…

This girl deserves happiness and love and all that is good in life.

I just love how Stephanie Garber cared enough to show that Tella was just an obsession for Jacks, the Prince of Hearts desperately looking for his true love, so much that he forgot about love and cared only about finding that girl who wouldn't die from his kiss, to then show how Evangeline was his love, the one he chose, the one who made him feel once again as a human would; as Jacks of the Hollow.

Does Anyone else kinda hate Tella?

When I was reading Caraval for the first time I didn’t love Tella although that may have stemmed from the fact that she literally kidnapped her sister and took her to a magical circus with the help of a complete stranger! Like now we know Julian and I totally ship him and Scarlett but Scarlett literally knew him for all of a day before he helped Tella kidnap her like what? And Scarlett just forgave her!?!? At first I thought it might just be the perspective but when I was reading legendary it only made me like her less! Especially when she was talking about taking the cards from her mother and how everyone liked her sister more, I remember she specifically said “When Felipe ignored her in favor of her sister Scarlett” it made me realize how self centered she was like she just could not comprehend the sacrifices Scarlett made for her Scarlett literally had to watch the only person who was nice to her be killed by her father and Tella wasn’t the only one who lost her mother and missed her even though she acted like she was the only difference between them in that regard was that Scarlett was smart enough to realize that their mother left for a reason and that she might not want to come back anyways sorry for the rant.
