“shua” you said happily, taking the seat in the library next to him. when you sat you noticed the work and textbooks splayed out in front of him “what’re we working on here?”

“yn hey!” joshua said with a smile, already clearing space for you to join him more comfortably. “i was just finishing off that assignment we had for chem, it’s so tiring i’m starting to lose my mind i think” he laughed easily.

you looked at his work for a second and nodded at his words, you were still only halfway through yours. “i get you, i tried working on some of it last night and contemplated dropping out at least five times”

joshua smiled when you laughed, taking notice of the pretty ways your eyes crinkled in joy causing a warmth to creep up on his face.

for the next thirty minutes a steady atmosphere settled over the both of you, both focused on your work and occasionally asking the other for help.

joshua wouldn’t like to admit it but he looked over at you enough times to make it embarrassing and plain desperate.

“did you hear about that movie playing this weekend? apparently it’s super scary some people even passed out” you said with excitement lacing your tone.

truth be told, joshua couldn’t handle scary movies well. sure when he went to a haunted house or an escape room he could handle it but the movies were different. the way they make it just makes it overly eerie!

that would not hold him back if you asked him to go with you though.

“really? you .. go?” idiot, what the hell was that?

and joshua swears all the colour must’ve drowned from his face when you furrowed your brows in confusion, “huh?” you laughed off a little awkwardly.

joshua cleared his throat, “sorry, meant are you going to see the movie this weekend?”

he sighed in relief when you smiled at him, “i was hoping to, yeah. but i don’t really have anyone to go with..”

‘this is your chance. literally this is your chance. this is a free pass’

“we could go together..” joshua proposed, voice quiet and eyes searching yours for any signs.

“we as in- me, you and uh, jeonghan!” and joshua swears he can hear jeonghan in the distant telling seokmin that joshua’s an idiot. and jeonghan would not be lying at all.

“oh, uh yeah i guess that’d be great” you said, disappointment colouring your face.

‘why was this so hard?’ joshua thought as he looked at you. you’d already turned back to your work and bit back a pout wanting to settle on your lips. ‘why’s this so hard to get out? can’t someone else just do it for hi-’

“joshua, do i make you uncomfortable?” you shot up and asked him suddenly. “or like, do you just not like me like how you like the others? because you’re usually so.. honest with everyone else but with me it feels like you’re beating around the bush with your words sometimes”

“it’s not like it’s something i dislike!” you quickly reassured him when you saw how he looked like a kicked puppy, “it’s just, well it’s what i’ve noticed. and it only made me think i’m just maybe not as good a friend and maybe i’m just overthinking-”

“it seems different because i don’t want to be your friend” joshua cut off your rambling, “because i want to be your boyfriend”

“you what?” you looked at him a little out of breath and in disbelief that he just admitted that.

“i want to be your boyfriend, and obviously i’d talk differently to my friends than to someone i want to date” joshua moved his hand to hold your own, gently stroking the skin experimentally to leave space if you wanted an out but you didn’t and only grasped his hand tighter. “and i’d obviously be nicer to my girlfriend than my friend. no offence but you’d definitely get special privileges over jihoon”

you laughed lightly at his words, lips settling to a slightly teasing smile. “getting a little ahead of yourself, huh? i don’t remember you asking me to be your girlfriend, loverboy”

“not yet,” joshua smiled, “but i’ll ask you after i kiss you on our date this weekend, deal?”

bida's favorite thing to do in the summer is mostly to be super active, like playing sports and running around doing stupid shit! bida's already a bold character but the summer season somehow makes them even livelier..and chaotic.

at the party itself, bida is going to do anything and EVERYTHING, they'll be indulging in all the little events planned, goes crazy competitive over them even, they're particularly excited for capture the flag..as it reminds them of a game he used to play back home..and they are SCARY good at it...they might pickpocket a couple of unfortunate souls too, you better keep an eye for them if i were u/j

bida's gonna pull up to the beach wearing a shrimp colored tshirt and your average swim trunks, + a matching bucket hat and some funny looking shades! [they dont have enough money to buy an actual swimsuit so they just settle with what they have], as for what they're bringing? their floatie of course [that they stole from an unknown third party </3] , along with sunscreen and a plastic bag with lotssss of snacks

their fave color... surprisingly.... is pastel purple

sebek is their very unwilling and hesitant plus one, bida knew all their other friends were already going, so they settled on inviting their grumpiest batchmate!!! cue a 4'10 bida dragging sebek by the feet to the sandy beaches LMAO

--- As the festivities began taking place, Bida was more then happy to sign up for each and everyone of them. Joining in for beach volleyball, battling with the water guns, and having a splash contest was already so fulfilling! But then it was finally time for capture the flag, the main event Bida had been waiting for all day.

With most if not all the guests having arrived, it was easy to start separating into teams for the final event. As participants lined up and were grouped off, Sebek and Bida bickered back and forth. "Come on Sebek~! I bet you're just afraid you'll lose to me!" Bida teased. Sebeke was appalled at the thought and was quick to shout "There's no way I will lose to the likes of you! My dedicated training will prove your efforts to be futile!" Bida rolled their eyes and smirked before being called to the red team. Sebek was then called to the blue team. Bida gave Sebek a look from across the battlefield, pointing their thumb up only to dramatically drop in down with a proud smile.

The whistle blew and it was time to start the battle! Sebek was quick to play offense and managed to quickly charge headway to one of the red teams flags. The only one willing to take him head on being Bida. The chase begins! Bida quickly goes on the defensive, blocking Sebeks way back, effectively pushing him to run opposite. Sebek yelled as he was chased "GET THAT LOOK OFF YOUR FACE!" Bida smiled wickedly and mocked "What look~? Lookin at me? Aw" The two were practically running from side to side until Sebek finally found an opening to get back to blues base, but just as he thinks he's in the clear, Ace saves the red team on his way back by quickly nabbing the flag in Sebeks flag. Ace calls out "Ahaha getting too lovey dovey Croc!" The slip of the hand leaves Sebek speechless, but it's not a problem as Bida's laughter quickly fills the silence. ---

okay so mic obviously likes a bunch of music, like come on he is a radio talk show host. everyone has their preferred music genre and for yamada that's rock and more alternative music. so your music taste blends well together. you listen to music together all the time, whenever you get the chance, sometimes you'll go to gigs but you'll also try to catch his radio show and sometimes you'll be there in person in the back of the room, watching yamada in his element while you listen and chill on your phone.

HELLO! i’m back after reading everything for part 1 a few days ago. the first thing that came to mind was how it did NOT feel like 8K words, and none of the scenes felt wasted in any way. when reader brought yachi along i was surprised to see how you eased her into the team, and i think her skill to bullshit as a scammer was something reader thought could help them? i don’t think she actively tried to recruit yachi, but when yachi tagged along reader was probably not just thinking of her plan to teach yachi a lesson but also 5-steps ahead—hence why she was so casual in stuffing yachi into a role to entertain Ten. and also, the fact that akaashi looked extremely angry at the beginning but he softens so much at the middle only to harden at the end??? i think it’s because he doesn’t approve of reader’s methods to teach yachi?? he did say that one time while they were talking. i’m so intrigued how the “fake dating” will sprout, because we can see clearly that it’s obviously not fake. although keiji doesn’t want to settle with reader, he was the one who initiated intimacy in the warehouse even though no one was watching, aka there was no need for him to even act intimate. i’m betting on that scene alone that keiji does have real feelings for reader, but why he doesn’t want to settle…. idk. i’ll have to read and find out!

and as for other things (about keiji and reader), the fact that they quarrelled and act like enemies the next day when they were all mushy was soooo funny, and leading to the old lady telling the tale…. THAT CLIFFHANGER! and also, i know u probably don’t mean it to be funny but reading “2 body guards—one buff and one scrawny” is such a visual irony i laughed. and also, the whole scene with Ten… what inspired the flow of events? it felt so legitimate like you were actually in a con job. and also, with reader working with such high profile…… wow. wonder who she’s working for. she seems like the leader of the team but the story did mention she had to join while as clueless as yachi—i wonder how she rose to her current position!!!

i'm so glad u liked it :')) i worked so very hard on this part and had so much trouble with the flow of it all so im glad u thought it was good!!! more information about yachi will be revealed in part 3:)) lets just say reader may have been causing trouble for yachi far longer than yachi thought o_O but this definitely wasn't a recruitment plan in the way it happened to work out, but reader is very good at changing plans last minute. when yachi begged her for a ticket to LA i think it softened her heart a little bit lmao

akaashi and reader literally feel SO strongly for each other but it can either manifest in gross icky lovesickness or insane burning hatred. like theres no in between for them. its ALL or NOTHING!!! and i go into that a lot in the next part. part 2 is very very different from part 1, but its my all time favorite, i love it so much and i cant wait to post it so all the secrets can be revealed<333 i wish i could just say everything now but that would be no fun!!!

also idk how obvious it was but the two body guards were bokuto and kudo :) idk why Ten would hire kudo as a body guard like hes a fifty something 5'5 stickbug but hes also very convincing idk man

ALL the background info on reader is revealed in the next part....as well as on akaashi....and the start of this team in the first place... i mean ALL!!! its so fun to write u dont even know

i got a lot of inspo right from The Great Pretender!! i took ideas from it and twisted them around to fit this fic in a concise way. in the first few episodes they pull a drug scam against a movie director with japanese candies and fake doctors and lots of guns, it lasts like multiple episodes, and i just took that idea and made it a lot shorter and less detailed so itd work here lmao. i think thats the only direct scam i pulled from the show so far? i may take one or two more for part 3, but yeah thats where the inspo came from!! it was very difficult because i am not a con artist but i tried my best lol!!
