tydii: obviously they canonically have lae in the Bad Universe, and they probably have her in the good universe too. I have a Lot of opinions about Saedii and her relationships with her parents, but i'll spare y'all (unles you really want to hear it 👀 then hmu) i hc syldrathi culture as focusing really intensely on the nuclear family (no big family reunions or whatever) so she really just starts fixating on Lae, and on Lae having the best possible most supportive childhood, to the point where she and Tyler don't even really think about having another kid until Lae's in her twenties. i go back and forth on whether or not they do - i think it all depends on Lae's relationship with her parents as an adult, but they probably have a son when she's like 19, and he's endlessly babied by the rest of the squadfam. like all things, though, tydii attacks parenting like the powerhouse they are. they probably have spreadsheets for everything. fuckin nerds.

aurikal: they have like three ish children. we see in the books that Kal idolizes his mother, and we know Auri had a little sister. Ergo: aurikal parents. i forget who i'm stealing this from (I think it's @saedii-gilwraeth-simp? but I can't find the post) but they totally name one kid Evaa-Callie. my addition: when she's like three weeks old it becomes increasingly evident that it is in fact Incredibly Awkward to name your kid after a dead planet, so they wind up shortening it to Evalie. she TOTALLY becomes a musician (kinda like AURORA in our world? she probably just goes by EVALIE). aurikal probably adopts a kid too - maybe the kid of someone Kal knows? anyway hes either an author or a scientist, in general he does nerdy things. there's also that one daughter who winds up becoming an expert handler for a species of syldrathi mammals used historically in battle but nowadays as guard dogs or service animals. she really bonds with her baby girl, named Seredii, which literally just means "Muscles", this is like naming a pitbull "Brutus", this is the Most Stereotypical name ever, her siblings tease her Endlessly.

finlett: i feel like they don't have kids? they're too busy being awesome and they both have issues with the parenting they got growing up, so there might be a lil insecurity there as well? anyway they turn into the Number One fun aunt and uncle and they spoil the tydii and aurikal kids endlessly.

zinari: Zila can't find Magellan's actual code, protected by layers and layers of encryption, so she has to make him again from scratch. (She realizes at the end of the process that the was to stop herself from making a time paradox - if Zila copied it, where did she get it from? she encrypts the code she writes so tightly she knows no one, not even Fin, could decrypt it.) This takes Many Many iterations of prototype AI's with VERY distinct personalities. Nari feels bad for the programs to be stuck in the cloud and puts them into robots, and Zila sees no issue with this. End result: they have 15-20 robot pseudo-children Magellan prototypes, all named after different explorers. (unpopular opinion but idk if zila would be a good parent but nari deserves kids so here is the solution)

despite being born in the united states, MARINA WAS RAISED IN GERMANY since her early adolescent years. the heinz’s decision to move to europe wasn’t spontaneous. her parents just missed their hometown and decided to return to their home country. so, therefore, marina was enabled to learn german before she could even talk.

THROUGHOUT THE YEARS OF LIVING IN STUTTGART, any vernacular of the english language she knew had vanished from her memory since all she and her family spoke was german. she did take english courses in school... because why not? her extended family still lived in california while she was living life in europe. to get around, she had to know basic english and she wanted to become fluent... AGAIN.

MARINA HAD ALWAYS LOVED WATCHING MOVIES GROWING UP and desired to have a career in the film industry. she was an aspiring writer and made an effort in making her dreams become reality. after graduating from secondary school, she left for los angeles to study at the university of southern california.

prior to completing her degree and graduating from USC, marina had been an INTERN for a production company and a PERSONAL ASSISTANT for a couple of film productions—all while being a WAITRESS at a classy italian restaurant and a DOG WALKER for just about anyone within her proximity, in addition to the filthy rich. after all, she needed the money to be able to pay her tuition and piling debt that never got as bad as she thought it did. as a responsible adult, marina always paid on time ( for just about everything ), worked, and has worked through blood sweat & tears non-stop since she could remember.

although living in the united states, she settled in well because of her family in los angeles. for someone being constantly surrounded by them (cause let’s be honest, she’s a family-oriented woman 99.9% of the time) marina was independent [then and now] and hung out with cousins/friends/etc when she had free time... but that was almost a rare occurrence. always and forever a busy bee.

if she wasn’t working, marina would most likely be traveling on her own... maybe dragging friends with her so she isn’t too lonely. but she works 60+ hours/week, and working requires traveling. she’s always writing scripts that she sees all sorts of potential for, be it animation or not. camaraderie and trustworthiness are very important in collaborations... especially with imaginative/talented people.

in her mid-twenties, she was a first-time mother to a baby (gender tbd). juggling a career in the film industry and motherhood was never too easy. always being hard on herself and admitting she needed help, marina would leave them to two people she trusted to babysit with a weekly paycheck, or with as much money as she was able to because of bills, bills, bills; expenses, et cetera. a few years later and she’d give birth to her second; having two kiddos were enough for her... —— hence she tied her tubes asap but no one knows that.

diagnosed with an overthinking b*tch disorder ( jk! ), she has had a difficult time sleeping as of late, or the past few years if she was being honest with herself. she has relied on CBD and sometimes... melatonin... and has become dependent on sound machines to help her knock out for at least 6 hours.

when her kids were younger than ~ ten years old, marina made the decision to move her family of 3 to london in the early 2000s. the “MAN” that impregnated her with two kids was out of the picture... as a deadbeat dad obvs ( !!!! ) but that came as no surprise whatsoever. she didn’t mind being a SINGLE MOTHER but they did drive her mad at times.

i don’t know about you, local londoners, but she LOVES the rain, cloudy days (ftw!) and hates the heat despite having lived in california for a very, very long time. prefers cold weather to anything else... grew up snowboarding & almost became an olympian.

I Have Finished Aurora's End and I can no longer be trusted with spoilers

I'm still at the crying stage but also buzzing with excitement about the ending

All the spoilers are under the cut

First of all: TYLER X SAEDII SHIPPERS HAVE BEEN VINDICATED

(also I've been calling them the Tacticians in my head).

Not only have we been vindicated, but they got a kid!

And Caersan dies. I like that he didn't have some weird repentance moment even though he was the one to sacrifice himself to the Weapon. Like he was a bastard to the end and he died because he was a stubborn bastard that refused to surrender or compromise his murderous ways. He saved the galaxy but only to spite the entity trying to kill him. It was a very in-character end for the psychopath who refused to ratify a peace treaty.

Zila and Nari are very cute. I'm imaging them getting up to a lot of interesting shenanigans in the past, from stopping the Trask/Terra wars to starting the Aurora Legion.

Fin and Scarlett got their happy ending! and some TRAUMA. Multiple deaths. You know, that sort of thing. I am pleased for them. They need that vacation tho.

Now, Kal and Auri. I will now be calling them Aurikal in the style of chapter 31. I was fairly ambivalent on their relationship in the first book, and vaguely bored of it by book 2, but I liked them more in this. They were third-wheeled by his horrifically evil father for most of the book. Maybe I liked Kal more when faced with the literal destroyer of a planet that is his sire? I definitely liked Auri more when she was yelling at every second person and willing to fight them too.

The Free People were very United Nations with their exclusion of the Terrans, but it felt very weird against people like the Unbroken, but maybe without the Starslayer everyone just let it go? VERY weird, but also kinda believable. Lae was obvs the Tacticians' kid from the moment Tyler said her name, but I didn't mind.

feel like this will be a very very VERY unpopular opinion but i don't really see the chemistry between scar and fin. like yeah, they're a sexy power couple i guess, but they never really had time in the series to develop their friendship before just falling head over heels in love. and that sucks, because all the other couples got more acquaintance before they got together.

and it's really clear to me how all of the other couples seem to uplift their partner and naturally support their partner's weaknesses. like auri convinces kal to take risks, and he (mostly tries to) keep her from running into dangerous situations without thinking (he's just generally the Most devoted partner one could Ever ask for though. and the times when he goes feral for her asdfkjdfd o h m y g o d).

tyler and saedii have their incredibly horny telepathy thing going on, and they are also just the Definition of a power couple. if you look up "power couple" in the dictionary theres a picture of saedii kissing tyler while also stabbing someone and they're also playing like three incredibly convoluted strategy games at once. maker's breath.

then we have zila and nari, and although they don't get that much screen time (page time?), we can see that after the timeskip zila is much more emotive and nari seems less prone to angry outbursts. and you canNot tell me they didn't work together like that.

idk its just like. in comparison i kinda feel like scar and fin's relationship is kinda meh. and i think the fandom kinda does them a disservice by making their relationship monogamous when im like 95% sure they would both be down for a long-term polyamorous relationship.

the ending kinda just feels like it wanted every single one of the characters to get with someone? or maybe im just aroace and im missing the point *shrug* just me thoughts here
