as soon as I heard that Sound of Animals Fighting is putting out a new EP I put on The Ocean and the Sun which is an all time favorite of mine. 

Versions was an album I listened to once before but didn’t really give enough time to appreciate Roger Rivas is quite literally a genius both on the Organ and on the production of anything he’s put together. Its what you can expect from a Roger Rivas project bouncy early (skinhead akin) reggae organ with soulful crooning. I do like that this project does highlight the Los Angeles soul scene and each song features a new vocalist that really takes some soul classics into a new direction.

and as always my internal fight of who is a better neo-rocksteady act the Frightnrs or Jr. Thomas and the Volcanoes. Like both do the style so fucking well and as soon as I listen one of them I immediately put on the other both bands worth vibing to on a good high <3
