Note
Which is better, The Killing of a Chinese Bookie’s theatrical version or director’s cut? Both are on max right now.
in terms of clarity in storytelling and cohesiveness of the film on the whole, the 1978 cut is stronger; however the 1976 longer cut includes scenes that aren't in the 1978 (many of the nightclub scenes, and some in a different order) which i think is absolutely worth watching; though i think cassavetes's cut is ultimately a "better" version of the film each time i rewatch it i feel like there's something missing so i really do like the first cut
