MAEVE — gestures to any of the numerous posts i’ve made about how maeve’s character is all about love, then add on her multiple soulmates plots. she believes in it with every bit of her heart, every bone in her body, every fiber of her being, insert every dramatic form of YES YES YES here.

ELLANA — i'd say so, yeah. she's a romantic at heart and would fancy the concept. unwavering devotion and fondness, absolute trust, unconditional love and acceptance—all things she herself feels in the right relationship, no matter how, uh. problematic that may get depending on the person.

A : AFFECTION. how does your muse show affection?

MAEVE — love personified over here. she's displaying affection in any and every way, her favorites being through physical touches and gifting. the most touching (ha) part about her affection is that you can notice she tailors it to each individual, taking the time to determine what they're comfortable with and desire and giving them precisely that. i've talked about this topic for her So Much that i'm gonna cut myself off here.

ELLANA — touch touch touch. she can't get enough of it. linking their arms together or wrapping one of her arms around a partner's waist as they walk, taking their hand to give it a kiss or squeeze, playing with or caring for their hair, massaging tense areas, the list goes on and on. it's natural to her, expressing love and affection through touch, and something that's honestly incredibly important to her in a relationship. in simple love language terms, her two follow-ups would be acts of service and words of affirmation.

B : BOUQUET. does your muse like flowers? which ones are their favourite?

MAEVE — ..... yes, a little bit. i say, trying to keep the tone chill when she has gardens at both of her estates (the toussaint one is significantly bigger) and frequently purchases flowers from merchants she happens by. her favorites are tulips!!! for their various meanings dependent on colors, and because she thinks they're pretty :D also a fan of classic roses, lavender, primrose and sunflowers.

ELLANA — yeah 🥰 coming from a dalish clan, there are practical uses that can come from flowers/herbs which i'm sure she's aware of and has used, but!!! i also am a fan of the idea that the dalish have traditions involving and symbolism assigned to different types of flowers, and ellana being the softie she is would adore them. it was soooo long ago but i once read somebody's headcanons for a few of these, and i can only remember that her favorite would be the crystal grace, which when gifted to somebody you're romantically interested in would be seen as a symbol of wanting to pursue/enter courtship with them. it's just Adorable

Y : YOURS. does your muse get protective easily?

MAEVE — the thing is that, yes, she can get protective. but!! her partners are always ridiculously strong individuals who can handle themselves and protect her in a fight without breaking a sweat, so her instinct to protect them doesn't pop up very often (outside of the apocalypse au where she does in fact go crazy on some sickos a few times lol maeve w a brick rights <3). but say their character is being attacked?? she can do something about that! and she will! socializing is where she thrives, words are a bard's deadliest weapon, etc etc. she'd be quick to defend her partner(s) then. don't judge a book by its cover or maeve will engage in some verbal sparring that'll make you wanna leave the room out of shame lmao

ELLANA — yes yes yes yes. protecting and providing are things that at some point changed from duties within the clan to plain instinct for her. such a large part of ellana is her desire to keep people (especially loved ones) safe, no matter what she must do to accomplish it. this is actually one of her flaws that i get so excited about, because ellana will sometimes go ballistic if somebody she cares for is harmed and that's totally not chill. a big contradiction to the merciful inquisitor that she is 90% of the time. it happens just with people she meets and gets attached to, can't imagine what'd happen if it's a partner of hers that gets hurt yikes

How would they meet the Inquisitor? depends on how they came to the inquisition! if he came with idrilla, and honestly that means linayel too, then he would meet the quizzy upon arrival to skyhold, having sent word of their visit beforehand [though not too far before]. if by himself he would just show up and request audience with them -making himself available as an agent.

3. What would some of their cutscenes look like?!! his haven cutscene -if triggered with appropriate approval- would be in the woods outside the main settlement, he’d take the quizzy out into the quiet snow and share some dalish mead with them and offer conversation if they would like it and silence if they don’t. at the end he’ll tell them they were looking overwhelmed and taking a step back to breathe always aides with that.a high approval quizzy can get a cutscene at skyhold in the garden: da’ean tending plants until he notices quizzy walking over, at which point he’ll ask if quizzy has ever tended plants before and will offer to show them what he’s been growing.

How would they react to that person being romanced by the “new” Inquisitor?yes! so da’ean romances dorian and the iron bull in my canon, and depending on the quizzy he would romance an unromanced bull or dorian or both still. their relationship is pretty solid, though with da’ean as a companion there would be a few changes to their dynamic mostly in terms of da’ean doesn’t have to deal with the trauma of being quizzy lkjkljklj if either of them are romanced by the quizzy he’d approve so long as quizzy treats them well!

What would their approval and disapproval Feast Day items be?:o i don’t have the feast day dlc so i’ll skip that since i don’t have a base of ref for it lmao. his regular gift items would be flowers, dalish artifacts, and books. the two which would trigger cutscenes would be a small halla charm -a high approval quizzy would learn here about his sister, and an ancient looking book written in a mix of elvhen and arcaic tevene -da’ean would excitedly talk about it and with dorian’s help translate the book revealing it to be a dalish songbook.

How would they compare at the end of the Inquisition as a companion to who they were as the Inquisitor?at the beginning da’ean is more reserved and less likely to actively engage with the quizzy, as he gets more comfortable and gets to know the quizzy he’ll open up quite drastically. in terms of character growth da’ean goes from someone who is still tied to the past and doesn’t look to the future into someone who actively makes the future the best it can be for himself and those he cares about -effectively taking his head out of his ass and learning to cope healthily with the past.

Do they believe the Herald of Andraste is really the Herald of Andraste?absolutely the fuck not. if the quizzy is also dalish there would be dialogue between them for how da’ean believes the quizzy is sent by mythal but otherwise no he doesn’t believe in the maker one whit, and andraste isn’t exactly in his good graces.

13. If the Herald didn’t have them tag along to prep the trebuchets, what would they do during the battle for Haven? —    BASICS.

▸     IS    YOUR    MUSE    TALL    /    SHORT    /    AVERAGE ? Iveani is 5′3″, so she’s on the short side, but not so short that it’s unusual, especially for an elf.

▸      ARE    THEY    OKAY    WITH    THEIR    HEIGHT ? Yeah, she’s fine with it, but she doesn’t like it either. She genuinely doesn’t care one way or the other about it.

▸      WHAT’S    THEIR    HAIR    LIKE ? Her hair is a bright copper color that she loves. It’s pretty inside, but it really shines in the sunlight, where you can see the very subtle blonde highlights. Her hair has a tiny bit of a wave to it. In Inquisition, it’s medium-long, going about halfway down her chest. At this length, she finds having her hair down to be really distracting. If she’s in a situation where she doesn’t care much how she looks, she’ll pull it into a messy ponytail, braid, or bun. If she does care how she looks, she’ll french braid the front parts so that the braids go back, to the back of her head, to get them out of her face, and she’ll leave the rest loose. Sometime between Inquisition and Trespasser, though, she decides taking care of her hair is more trouble than it’s worth and she chops it to chin length. She takes good care of it, so it’s very soft and silky.

▸     DO    THEY    SPEND    A    LOT    OF    TIME    ON    THEIR    HAIR     /    GROOMING ? Depends on the situation. If she’s out on the field, no. She’ll use nice products with what time she does spend with it, but she doesn’t want to slow anyone down. (Plus, it’s really hard to do your hair while camping.) At Skyhold, she spends more time with it, making sure to keep it in good condition.

As far as general grooming goes, she does really love nice bath products. They’re one of the few luxuries she really allows herself to indulge in. This does extend to lotions and hair products, despite not strictly being bath products, so her skin is usually super soft. Her favorite product is a Honeysuckle and Jasmine scented bath oil, and she uses it a lot. Other scents she likes are gardenia, vanilla, honey, and strawberries, though not necessarily together.

▸      DOES   YOUR   MUSE   CARE   ABOUT   THEIR   APPEARANCE   /   WHAT    OTHERS    THINK ?

Yes, but she cares about practicality more. So she enjoys chances where she gets to wear pretty clothes, jewelry, and makeup, but she doesn’t usually get a chance to because they usually just get in the way. The other luxury that she allows herself to indulge in is pretty lingerie (both underwear and pajamas). This allows her to have time where she feels pretty and feminine but doesn’t get in the way of anything, even if no one else gets to see her during that time.

That being said, she does know she’s attractive. Not in a very vain or stuck up way, but she knows. She uses it to her advantage at times, although she’s sometimes hesitant. She’ll do it more in her companion verse, since as Inquisitor, her title gives her more advantages than her beauty, so she doesn’t feel the need to. At the same time, she can also be a little more nervous about it in her companion verse because she worries about the risk of sexual assault more.

As far as what other people think goes, yes, she does care. She cares a lot. Probably too much. She won’t necessarily notice when someone dislikes her if they don’t say so outright, but it really bothers her when she does know.

▸      WHAT    ARE    SOME    OF    YOUR    MUSE’S    BAD    HABITS ? Babe fidgets all. the. time. She also gets easily distracted. And she’s TERRIBLE at taking care of herself. She forgets to eat unless there are people around a lot, in which case she’ll just eat whenever they do. She has a lot of trouble sleeping. It can take her hours to fall asleep. Once she falls asleep, she tends to wake up a lot in the middle of the night. When she does fall asleep and stay asleep, she gets nightmares. It sucks all around. Even if she didn’t have the sleeping troubles, her natural schedule seems to be sleeping once from around 11 am - 3 pm and then again from about 11 pm - 3 am. This is fine in a dalish camp (I hc that elves aren’t diurnal), but since she has to work with humans, she needs to force herself to have a more normal sleeping schedule, adding to her problems. So if she was left entirely up to her own devices she’d probably end up eating like once a day and sleeping about 3 hours a night, which isn’t ideal.

▸      HAS    YOUR    MUSE    LOST    ANYONE    CLOSE    TO    THEM ?      HOW    HAS    IT    AFFECTED    THEM ?

Not until she loses her clan. It hits her hard. She doesn’t like showing that she’s upset, because she has this idea in her head that since she’s a symbol of hope to so many, she can’t ever let that mask slip, but it’s bad. After all, for all intents and purposes, they were her family. They were there for her when no one else was, and are still some of the only people who she feels 100% comfortable with. She stayed holed up in her room for days, not eating or sleeping. She self harmed in ways she knew wouldn’t leave any marks (so people wouldn’t worry), because she felt like she needed to be punished somehow. It just Wasn’t Good all around and it takes her a long time to even begin to heal.

▸      WHAT    ARE    SOME    FOND    MEMORIES    YOUR    MUSE    HAS ?   Times with her clan. Having so much available to learn was thrilling to her, especially since it was the first time she really felt connected with her people. Getting the opportunity to be a kid for a little while. Learning that there was joy in life, and things that made life really worth living for. She holds time spent with her best friend, Faron, especially close. They used to do everything together. Starting her first relationship. She has many fond memories, even though they start later than most. She gets to be very good at finding joy in everyday situations.

▸     IS    IT    EASY    FOR    YOUR    MUSE    TO    KILL ? It depends on the situation. If they attack first, or they’re actively, willingly hurting other people, then yes. It’s very easy to defend herself or the people around her in that situation. If they’re in a position where they seem more helpless, though, it’s different. Even if she knows they deserve death, it’s very difficult for her to actually kill them. What could be even worse on her, though, is situations where it’s less clear. Maybe someone was manipulated into attacking, for instance, or misled to believe that their actions are right. The uncertainty of those situations drives her crazy. They’re what make killing weigh so heavily on her. By the time Inquisition ends, she feels like she can never really be pure again because of how many she’s had to kill.

▸      WHAT’S    IT    LIKE    WHEN    YOUR    MUSE    BREAKS    DOWN ?  Depends on the reason for it? If it’s a general, stress is building up and there’s no way around it, she tends to get a lot more emotional than usual. She continues to try to bottle it up, but she ends up exploding eventually. This usually results in a lot of crying, although she’s started yelling over it before (and then felt bad afterwards, because she REALLY doesn’t like people yelling).

I’m not sure if PTSD stuff counts as a breakdown. She’s not great at telling when something is coming on. Dissociation where she feels like her body is a machine and she’s just controlling it is pretty common, and doesn’t alarm her. Dissociation where she feels like she’s floating above her body and just watching what’s going on would be more of a cause for alarm, but the only thing I can think of that would trigger that is sex when she isn’t properly communicating her needs (assuming her partner cares). It’s flashbacks that are really the problem. She tends to shut down while they’re happening and it takes her a minute to be able to get herself together enough to get out of that situation. She has methods of grounding herself that work when she remembers them, though, but when they happen, she often forgets those methods.

▸      IS    YOUR    MUSE    CAPABLE    OF    TRUSTING    SOMEONE    WITH    THEIR    LIFE ? Yes. She figures that no one can really survive alone, so being able to trust people is essential. She also tries her best to believe the best out of everyone, which leads to her being pretty trusting.

▸      WHAT’S    YOUR    MUSE    LIKE    WHEN    THEY’RE    IN    LOVE ? She’s very affectionate. She likes cuddling and kissing and all of that fluffy stuff. She really, really tries to make enough time for them. It’s very easy for her in the beginning because she tends to hyperfixate on new relationships, but gets harder over time, because of her schedule and the fact that hyperfixations shift. She also generally is more attentive to their needs and tries her best to support them as much as she possibly can.
