US folks living in New York, Wisconsin, Connecticut, or Rhode Island:
today (April 2, 2024) is the Democratic primary election! please please go vote against genocide!
the Vote Uncommitted campaign is sending Biden a message that voters demand a permanent ceasefire now! How it works is people vote uncommitted or undecided or other in large numbers, which will show the democrats that they WILL NOT win the general election in the Fall and Trump will become president unless Biden and the rest of the Dems immediately change their policy on Israel and Gaza. Michigan already turned out over 100,000 people voting uncommitted, which is MORE than the margin Biden won MI by last election and more than the margin Trump won MI by in 2016. Voting Uncommitted matters! So if you’re a US citizen who’s able to vote, make sure you do!!
each state has a different ballot option so please refer to this graphic to see how you should vote in your state!
The UNCOMMITTED campaign started in Michigan 3 weeks before the primary and it got about 101,000 votes. It has since spread to other states but with a much smaller time frame. These are the results
North Carolina
Colorado
Iowa
Massachusetts
Minnesota
Nevada
North Carolina
Tennessee
Most of the states have at least 10,000 votes which was the initial goal of the Uncommitted campaign in Michigan.
im sure its been said already but as the election draws near more and more liberals will come out of the woodwork to shame people with a conscience to give away their vote to the democrats for free. i'm already seeing posts saying "why aren't people more concerned about a trump presidency?" you want to know why? it's because people already know he's bad. everyone already knows what he is and what he's done and what he'll do. there's nothing to discuss. he's a racist despotic worm of a man. there's nothing else to say.
biden is currently president. the genocide is happening under his watch. he's the one funding isra*l and arming them; he's sidestepped congress more than once to give them weapons. by oct. 27, the biden administration already knew that "Israel was regularly bombing buildings without solid intelligence that they were legitimate military targets." the state department/biden have engaged in atrocity propaganda, cast doubt on the legitimacy of the death toll recorded by the gaza health ministry, and so on. the united states is currently in the process of trying to pin the "war in gaza" on netanyahu (see sen. schumer's speech) after months of backing blatant genocide as a means to act as if they're "doing something" about the genocide (Instead of, say, threatening to cut off all aid to israel with the condition that all hostilities in gaza, the west bank, and occupied jerusalem are halted immediately and permanently, allowing palestinians freedom to travel, allowing aid into gaza, etc etc etc.)
the long and short of it is that liberals view their own lives as being worth more than palestinians'. that's it. they'll vote for another 4 years of the guy ushering in genocide and supporting apartheid + settler colonialism because he isn't outright attacking them (despite various laws and rulings happening both at the supreme court level and at the local level all over the country that will endanger people). they'll settle for the illusion of safety and security and shame anyone with a conscience and accuse them of "supporting the republicans" when in an actual democracy you would be able to use your vote as leverage to extract concessions from those who want to be elected. that's how it's supposed to fucking work.
democrats are not owed people's vote. if biden loses, it will be biden's fault; it will be his campaign's fault; it will be the democrats' fault. trump is bad; the republicans are bad. we already know this. this is not an endorsement of either. but if democrats are too cowardly and feckless and servile to the motivations of the american empire and never do anything for their constituents then why the fuck should anyone vote for them. you want to get mad at someone, why don't you do something useful and stop worrying about team-sports with a purely selfish basis and start hounding the people in power who are supposed to serve you, the voter.
of course they're already blaming arabs and muslims for "the death of democracy" and the elections aren't even here. can you people even try to be less predictable?
I was planning on voting uncommitted in the democratic primaries to hopefully push Biden towards a ceasefire, but I was concerned that there might not be an active movement in my state. I can never seem to find protests closer than New York on the websites that get passed around here, so I thought maybe there wasn’t a significant anti-zionist movement, here.
But, good news! I just got a political text message asking me to vote uncommitted, so it looks like there are actually people here planning the same thing.
If your state hasn’t had primaries yet, please look up when/where they’re being held and consider voting uncommitted.
The Biden administration needs to know that people are willing to turn out and vote, and that we’re willing to do so in support of Palestine.
Today I wanted to share this CNN clip for Americans. You probably heard about the Democrat primaries in Michigan - 100k voters turned out and cast their ballots “Uncommitted” rather than choose the binary of Red v. Blue. If you’ve been paying attention, you know that Americans have been hounding all of the DNC powers ceaselessly. If you’ve been attention, you also know that Biden has had so many opportunities to end the Genocide in Palestine. You also know that Biden dangles the carrot (while eating ice cream) and then removes it (after that MI primary).
It’s important to reframe the binary vote; Biden isn’t going to “defeat” Trump, and Trump isn’t going to “win” - Biden is holding our hopes for a better future hostage. DNC should be courting our vote, not withholding peace for it.
Wisconsin voters are apparently turning out in similar numbers to utilize their voter power, “Uncommitted”. They need to see that we’re paying attention to the difference between their (empty) words and their (in)actions.
I hope this video and my words help give you the confidence to challenge people in your life who are bogged down in helplessness. I hope that you follow Mehdi on social media - if you aren’t already.
Don’t forget to click your Arab.org links, and talk to someone today about Palestine.
“Hope is not so much a comfort, as a necessary requirement.”
Israeli officials have told the Biden administration and humanitarian organizations how they plan to start forcibly expelling Gazans from Rafah ahead of a likely ground invasion—a move critics have likened to the ethnic cleansing of Palestine's Arabs during the establishment of the modern state of Israel.
Politicoreported Friday that Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officials informed the U.S. government and aid agencies that a plan is in place to remove Palestinians from Rafah, where approximately 1.2 million refugees forcibly displaced from other parts of Gaza are precariously sheltering alongside around 280,000 local residents in the embattled strip's southernmost city.
According to an unnamed U.S. official and two other people familiar with the plan, Israel would "move people out of Rafah, the main humanitarian hub in the enclave, to al-Mawasi, a small strip of land on the southern Gaza coast." Politico also obtained a copy of a map containing some details of the plan.
The Wall Street Journalreported Friday that Israel has given Hamas until next week to submit to a cease-fire proposal or face an invasion of Rafah.
"Such an invasion could lead to horrific massacres and raise scenarios of a second Nakba," the Gaza-based Palestinian Center for Human Rights said recently. "After 200 days of horrific genocidal acts in Gaza, the real objectives of the attack are the continuation of the 76-year-long ongoing Nakba and the erasure and genocidal destruction of the Palestinian people in Gaza. Israel is laying the groundwork to fulfill its settler-colonial plan of colonizing Gaza."
Human rights defenders have warned that Israel may ultimately seek to ethnically cleanse as many Palestinians as possible from Gaza.
Proud of all the Michiganders who voted “uncommitted”. I’ll be doing the same or “ceasefire now”.
As for the “blue no matter who” morons/blue MAGA screaming that you have to support Biden because Trump is worse, please fuck off and take a few moments to reflect on that. Realize that you’re treating millions of people as expendable to your own comfort. It’s not as if Biden keeps any of his decent promises anyway/he’s been doing conservative shit his whole career. I have problems with his drug policies, healthcare policy, lies about debt cancellation, and anti worker sentiments (his pro union stuff was weak as hell); all of this in addition to the genocide he is happy to participate in. Blue MAGA morons fuck all the way off 🖕
Going on social media rn is watching dems and libs tell Muslims & Arabs to get ready to suffer under trump & calling them terrorists whilst simultaneously seeing news of children in North Gaza dying of starvation & Palestinians being massacred by israeli tanks as they try to collect aid they desperately need.
She explains this so much better, and I highly recommend listening with an open heart. This is where I need people to be more understanding of why, AT THIS VERY MOMENT, people don't want to vote for Biden and his party. We're six months away.
The Democrat party can sway people if they fucking got their heads out of their asses and stop treating people's concerns and anger as a passing fad. There's so few of them that are taking this seriously. I really hope that as more people protest in this primary campaigns and polls, it scares the Democract party enough to get them to actually be progressive.
Or a useful third party emerges out of the ashes, but I don't hold any hope on that right now. But who knows.
