also that last post has me thinking about how desperate claudia was to turn someone, anyone so as to have a companion, because she's so isolated by her vampirism and being frozen as a teenager she can't imagine another way to have a relationship, being with a human seems impossible. she's searching for someone to turn. vs armand who vows to never turn another person, and falls in love with daniel because of his humanity and louis for being so human like as a vampire. he treasures the humanity and with daniel it becomes a proxy way for him to experience all the human things he never got to. and armand representing the supernatural, his power as an ancient vampire, in turn is part of what makes him seductive to both his victims and lovers. and this has convinced armand that if he turned daniel it would doom their relationship - the attraction would be gone and daniel would hate him in the end.

just. claudia and armand, desperate for love after their traumatic mortal lives - both turned by makers who held them captive, having such opposite reactions to the idea of turning a mortal they love, it representing something very different to them... and the connected-ness armand influences louis to turn madeleine for claudia and then immediately damning them both! and like maybe he's not technically breaking his vow but he's certainly valuing the letter of the law over the spirit of it, so that HE can be with louis. and of course he fully crosses the line with daniel. at the end of the day he's just like her, willing to do anything for love, for the person he wants.

this is another way he reminds me so much of bruce dickinson sometimes, they both have that thing where they can explain things in a way that literally anybody could understand it

bruce with planes for example, when i hear him talk about them, he makes me feel like i've been a plane mechanic for 60 years despite knowing nothing about planes besides what he's saying(and i have not been alive for 60 years)

russ is the same, not about planes, but just the way he words things. things about life and his perspective on things. they're both so smart in similar ways and they both have that same drive in doing what they want to do. they both have an amazing outlook on life. the love for music. the love for the fans. just beautiful people all around.

I recommend The Highwayman and Red Bandit AU if you like cowboy AUs, some ranchers fics, some scarian fics, this specific xisuma fic by TMB (and anything TMB does), some ethubs here, some of my good friends here, and some of my misc bookmarks that I really like.

I wish I had more public bookmarks on AO3 because god. There are so so so many talented authors in mcyt and in hermitcraft in general. PLEASE please check my rbs because I have so much more on tumblr than I do in this post!!
