i’ve been meant to talk about this but a lot twt stans have been agreeing to this which is we should boycott hybe fully and genuinely! they openly work with zionists (here's a thread that explains more about scooter braun and why you should boycott) and according to what i just saw… apparently yoongi’s movie is gonna have a screening in isnotreal and even after all the protests trucks and hashtags and emails that have been sent to this company this past few months, it’s clear they don't care about what we have to say and so, as much as we all want to support our faves, we have to make this company's pockets hurt. by that i mean, not buying albums or merch or stream music from their groups until something is done! unfortunately, these companies only gaf if money is not put in their pockets! so please download music listen to music illegally wtv you need to do we need to unite this time to make them open their eyes and realize we do not stand for this

the reason a lot of nct fans started the #/boycotting_resonance (if you choose to look through the thread, be careful of fancams filled with gore) tag is because of the cultural appropriation issues brought up by MAW. At the encore stage for MAW on Mcountdown, Xiaoyong did a dance that a lot of desi people were offended by because they say the dance is something that's been used to mock the desi. These people include our own desi fans. Of course, there are desi people who say they found nothing offensive as well. And how a (I'm not positive but many kfans are claiming) mistranslation from SuperM's reality show Mtopia offended people of color when some members seemed to have been making fun of Lucas' skin tone. Fans want nct to apologize and a good portion are planning on boycotting this comeback (in the grand scheme it's not the majority, but the difference can be seen in voting when it is a lot more close call and how the increase in views rate is dropping) The 2 controversies in the same day/night caused a lot of fans to get tired of the CA/offensive things that the members have ignorantly done and want to educate them. There's been a lot of threads going around bringing up all of the past controversial issues that SM has, in a sense, swept under the rug to be forgotten but not by ifans.
No one is actually hating on the members unless they are a real anti - but some have come to the conclusion after previous failed attempts at getting a response from SM, that a drop in album purchases would be their "last resort" to get an official apology. Due to their slogan being "to the world"/marketed globally, a lot of fans want to hold them accountable by having the members be educated upon the various cultures especially if they are going to dabble in their culture even for cultural appreciation (not appropriation.)
i think if you stay mainly on doiezen twt, only a handful are being blatant of their opinions about the issue of boycotting. other sides of ncity seem to be in chaos with people getting mad at ppl for boycotting and saying to unfollow if they're not gonna stan nct, while others are getting mad at others for continuing to support them. they tried to do a mass unfollowing yesterday as a way of showing SM there are people hurt, but i didn't see a difference in the follower count on Instagram. not sure about twt.
personally i dont really think a boycott will work due to the overall success of pt1, but if SM doesnt do anything it could hurt pt2. however, i personally dont think i will participate in the boycotting because yes the members have made mistakes, but they are human and can be ignorant to world/cultural issues. i am more on the side of let's reach out to try to educate the members but not put all of their hard work to, in lack of a better word, waste. some members who have never been problematic ever (in some people's case there are some mistranslations or short videos being taken out of context, or considered as CA by people not even of the culture) and put their all into this album should not be forgotten either, although I am slightly biased i believe. but i dont blame fans who were personally offended if they cant bring themselves to continue to support nct because they are their own priorities, not idols who dont know we exist
I’ve seen letter forms to send SM, concerning these cases. But not the tag.
As for being ignorant. How well do we know what might offend Koreans and the members? Very little. Reaching out and educating, writing about these concerns in open letters translated into Korean (members do read their tags) is a right way, not boycotting and bashing. SM is not one person that can quickly change his mind. The dialogue and mutual understanding will take time. To begin with, most Koreans are not even familiar with the term, let alone why are dances and jokes can be offensive. And if young Koreans don’t know, don’t expect the older generation in power to understand the issue.
