There are these blogs that are quite... Interesting.
Like, first of all, good on you for setting boundaries, I suppose, it is your blog after all
But, still it's so weird
Like the age/sexuality follow restriction
Like, firstly, people lie
Secondly, fair enough, if you want to feel safe about exactly who is interacting with your content, that's fair
But like, thirdly, people reblog, that's like a main thing of tumblr, and it will get out of your influence, and people who do not fulfil those restrictions will see it anyway
Like, the teenage/minor subset of fandom is tiny compared to... Everyone else
Also, shipping
Like, yeah, understandable, I dislike some ships too, but I just filter the tag out and if I dislike a blog, I just block that blog
And yes, setting boundaries, important
And yes, I suppose if you against a ship I like, or if I hate a ship you like, I would block you anyway, I think it'll be obvious from your blog content
Like, thanks for this list, it's actually really useful so I can tell if I align with your ships or not
But sometimes, it's like, you're not part of the culture/do not know the cultural intricacies, who are you to judge
TANGENT: like fair enough, you see them as siblings, I do too, but also they're really not. It's not an adoption thing, this is more of a foster situation
What, are people in the same foster home/orphanage/boarding school just not allowed to have romantic relationships. They were raised by the same people concurrently and can see themselves as siblings, but also not
Also, some of your ships rely on cognitive dissonance too. Like, they're literally called sworn brothers. Why are you shipping them? Oh, we're like brothers, and yet people still ship them...
If you don't do that last point, good for you ig.... END TANGENT
Like, yes, I get annoyed if there are there isn't a standardized ship name and people don't tag properly, so fair ig
The vitriol against AO3 is weird
Like, firstly, just filter out what you don't like
Secondly, money for fic really edges on copyright laws
Thirdly, donation drives for AO3 is for legal and server stuff, cause like they're not free, I know using social media makes you think websites are free but they are not
Fourthly, the idea that AO3 itself needs to curate content is... Interesting. Might as well ban Google and Bing and different search engines, because if you search up porn, there it is. Might as well ban libraries because of Problematic content. Might as well ban science databases because this research doesn't align with my personal world views. (censorship)
Also, reality vs fiction
Like fiction and art is there to explore things safely that we can't do in real life
Or it can be escapist too, there are probably many other purposes idk
But, remember, they are imaginary characters, who can't exactly be hurt
But also, people who project on those characters can be hurt
Projection is cool, but remember, divide between reality and fiction
Everytime I see a hate post on a character I like, I get irrationally angry, then remember, the character is imaginary, they're also interpreting/projecting the character as something else, and I probably can't change their mind. What's the point of arguing about fiction? Themes I understand. Interpretation of characters, I also understand. But fervent defense of characters as if they are real is... Interesting.
And what is shipping anyway. Is it just a story that revolves around that relationship? That you want those characters to be together? That they should be canon? Just a little exploration of their dynamic in this world?
I'm also salty about finding out a user being deactivated after seeing some discourse about them on one of these blogs, like they were fine and well just a few months ago, WHAT DID YOU DO??
Also salty about that time one of them claimed to have '18 years of experience' so take them seriously
And I did, because that meant they were like an elder, but no, they were 18, which is around my age, how much arrogance and ego do you have to think you are wise and experienced
Like yes, in stories, youths know better, but why do they know better? Experience that you don't have? Jaded from experience?
I will fight you as a peer
Problematic tropes are real, fair enough, but some of them that you are claiming to be have... big reaches
Like yes, this particular trope is racist/sexist/... I'm not arguing about that, but some are just ???
Ok, I got that out of my system, I will talk about other blogs
Sometimes, tumblr is really a echo chamber
Sometimes, I just see blogs with so-and-so opinion and I'm like
Are they just stuck? Are they just too blind to see? Are they being validated by everyone they follow? Or am I the one too blind to see? Who knows, but I should probs not get my answer from here
