T is for Tuatara The Tuatara is a sports car designed, developed and manufactured by SSC North America. Jason Castriota was a part of the design collaboration, so it is easy to see where it gets it's good looks - he has an impressive resume and has designed for Gruppo Bertone, Pininfarina, Saab and Ford. After being initally introduced with a 6.9 liter twin-turbo V8, the engine displacement was later reduced to a 5.9 liter in order to allow for a higher redline. SSC claims that the Tuatara produces 1,350hp (1,750hp on E85) with a 300 mph top speed. The successor to the SSC Ultimate Aero, the name Tuatara come from the unique reptile, found only in New Zealand, known for having the fastest molecular evolution of any living animal.
