I have never actually owned a non-human gas mask before, but a there was a weird listing on German eBay last night and hopefully that's fixed now.

To the best of my knowledge, the Swiss were the last non-communist country to field horse gas masks, with some photos (like above) showing usage into the 70's or 80's. This example has 1943 dated on it, but gasmasks.net claims these used to show up in NOS condition so it's likely they made a surplus and shoved a bunch into storage, taking some out occasionally to sell or use.

Anyway, the mask itself:

Basically a big ass filter connected via hose to a rubbee cup with appropriate valvage. Horses only breathe through their nose so you actually don't have to worry about sealing around their mouths. Both the Lexikon and chloramin.ch show these masks without goggles though, so maybe Swiss horses are built different from Serbian ones, idk.

Regardless, like I said it's the first non-human mask eirher I or @goatsludge have either owned and I'm excited to figure out how to display the damned thing.
