i've been autistic my whole life, i've even known i was autistic for several years but i have never, ever in all that time felt as seen and understood as "it's a metaphorical locker, it's a place where people like me get put when everyone's finally fes up with us." "i've run the simulations, annie. i don't get married,"
remember when annie literally talked to annie!abed and came to the definite conclusion that she does not love jeff, never really has, and really only needed the feeling of being loved, creating the seeming end to a three-season arc, then immediately backtracked in the next season about fifteen episodes later by getting giddy like a child when a hotel thought she was jeff's wife.
the writers of virtual systems analysis really gave us “not stupid. just less able to see what i see,” and “this time you’ll never get out,” and “we’re inside a locker. it’s where i spent a lot of time in junior high,” and “it’s a place where people like me get put when everyone else is finally fed up with us,” and “we’re just in love with the idea of being loved,” and “you’re afraid you don’t fit in, you’re afraid you’ll be alone. great news, you share that with all of us. so you’ll never be alone and you’ll always fit in,” and more all within the span of a few minutes and expected me to just go about my life as normal afterwards
The fact that Abed used to spend eighteen hours a week using the dreamatorium to try and predict what might happen in his future particularly with his friends though. Like bestie that's not logic and objective observation that's a clinically significant level of anxiety resulting from past experiences of repeated rejection. The dreamatorium's engine is a goddamn rumination machine
Virtual Systems Analysis really is the greatest episode of all time. It's got heavy Troy queercoding (Troy calling Annie to check up on Troy. Abed's Troy impression admitting he's basically attracted to Clive Owen). It's got Annie's "we're in love with the idea of being loved" speech. It's got the most heartbreaking and life changing scene in all of human history "It's a metaphorical locker. It's a place where people like me get put when everyone's finally fed up with us". It's got "You're afraid you don't fit in. Good news, you share that with all of us. That means you'll never be alone". It's a tad too relatable. It's got the ability to break my heart and then put it back together. Episode of all time
no we don’t. we are just in love with the idea of being loved. and if we can teach a guy like Jeff to do it we’ll never be unloved. so we keep running the same scenarios hoping for a different result
its kinda interesting that in remedial chaos theory, the timeline where abed leaves is the one where jeff and annie kiss (and the timelines are in his head) and then in virtual systems analysis when he shows annie how it would be without him jeff and annie get together, but in both scenarios something holds the relationship back, in remedial chaos theory annie says jeff reminded her of her dad and it weirds jeff out and in virtual systems analysis annie admits shes only in love with the idea of jeff. like what does this symbolise? with abed gone annie and jeff fall into a messed up relationship? does this support jabed?? or abedison?? someone smarter than me weigh in pls 😭🙏
i saw abed's name in the hospital school files, i love butt stuff, i hate spiders, i stole a pen from the bank, i cried during about a boy. the soundtrack. i don't wash my hands before surgery. i see why women find clive owen attractive to the point where i might just as well be attracted to him. i use comparisons to hitler to win arguments on the internet at the drop of a hat. i know nothing about wine. i'm more turned on by women in pajamas than lingerie. i.. just want to know they feel comfortable.
