So we only have two cats at the moment who weren't born in our house, and yesterday we were discussing their behavior that probably comes from what they experienced before they came to live with us.
Pixel, the mother of the kittens, the one we found abandoned in our backyard, does not like it when we leave at times other than the appointed capitalism time. Like she gets our work schedules, but if we're not going to work then she gets Concerned when we're leaving and she'll come to the door and demand to be picked up and to smoosh our noses with her nose and everything.
The spousal person took her to the vet this morning because she's been sneezing. The vet said she looked fine and she didn't have any lung problems and they gave her a shot to help. He said that she was anxious and vocal on the way there but relaxed on the way back, and I said that's how she was the very first time I took her to the vet. It was a couple of days after we found her, to check if she had a chip. She did not.
She was very upset on the way there but I remember on the way back she just silently watched me. She's okay when she knows we're taking her home.
It breaks my heart. I try to tell her "Sweetie, we will always come back."
I mean, I still think whoever abandoned her in our backyard had her best interests in mind. She was pregnant, they probably saw the other cats in our living room window, they thought we'd know what to do and we would help her. And that's what happened, and she has a good life now with all her kittens, but it's just....I want her to know that she has a home for life now and that we will always, always, come back.
Midnight, the all black one, turned 19 this month. The one next to her being squished by all her kittens is Pixel, who we found pregnant and abandoned in our backyard in 2014. Ursa, Titania, Rigel, and Sirius are her kittens.
All six of Pixel’s kittens pushed me out of bed just now.
Their names are: Quasar the light gray and pink nosed, Sirius the big orange dude, Rigel the even bigger orange dude with his head on his brother’s stomach, Ursa the wiry muscle girl with her head on Rigel’s stomach, Titania the Calico Faerie Queen, and Vega the sweet shy sturdy stripy girl. :)
Also they are five and a half years old now but we still call them the kittens.
Oh, if you’re new, we found their mother pregnant and abandoned in our backyard five and a half years ago and we brought her in to live with us, and we kept all the babies. :)
