I finally redrew a clean version of my An Xiao fandesign! I need more people to understand that he looks like that and I'm right..
While my fandesigns are generally based on casual but modern fashion - my main idea for them being that that, inspired by Dreamtonics' wanted simplicity, they'd wear simple clothing so that users could easily change them out of it or add to it - with An Xiao I'm saying fuck you, Gakupo inspired.
(Pose reference courtesy of Fashionhanfu)
I tried to draft my design idea for Wei Shu, but it doesn't look very good with colours. Here's the version without colours so you can see my idea.......

I just bought Wei Shu!! Just like I did when I bought Qing Su and An Xiao, here are a bunch of tests, aka him sounding awesome!! (I'm super tired and I was so excited I forgot I meant to post this to my second account...)
He's seriously so cool? I can't believe he's not more popular. He has a great range and a lovely voice. I hope to have him sing a Cantonese cover soon-ish...? Since I only bought one other masculine voice, I was worried they'd sound too similar to justify the purchase, but him and An Xiao are incomparable and fill completely different niches imo. Anyway listen to these, stan my tests, stan Wei Shu

Have you watched the demo song videos for the four new Dreamtonics vocals, Wei Shu, Sheena, Eri, and Hayden? It seems they're gonna support Japanese rap!
...Though, I'm concerned about that they're launching too many vocals. Hayden sounds quite alike to Saros.
Yeah! I have! I'm very excited
Personally, I definitely see what you're talking about as far as Hayden is concerned, I saw the resemblance too. In my opinion though, Hayden isn't quite as distinctive as Saros, nor does he seem like he's as capable of androgyny. He also seems better as a soft-pop vocal than the kinds of genres that Saros is meant for too.
TL;DR, they sound kind of alike, but the impression I get is that they'll be distinct enough to fill their own niches without stepping on the others' toes.

Wei Shu
He has such a pleasant and solid voice. He's also notable for being the first Cantonese-native SynthV. I think he's seriously underrated - people tend to favour English-native SynthVs. I also think his voice stands out a lot, whereas more "ambivalent" (perhaps... "plain"...) voices gain more popularity quicker. For owning his voicebank, I also know he's a very high quality voicebank, who sings with more ease than other masculine SynthVs I own and love.

Wang Chuan Feng Hua Lu (忘川风华录) Masterpost
Tumblr media
Wang Chuan Feng Hua Lu (忘川风华录) is a Vocal synth (Vocaloid and SynthV) music project. It consists of songs themed around different figures throughout Chinese history. The project is a collaboration between different artists and creatives, with music and videos featuring prominent traditional Chinese elements. The project's title translates to "The Records of Magnificence of the Wangchuan" - In Chinese mythology, "Wangchuan" (or River of Forgetting) is a river in the Underworld that can rid one of their past life's memories, similar to the river Lethe.
A mobile game adaptation has also been developed by NetEast. Unfortunately, I haven't played it so I can't give much insight on it. However, I assume that its premise is similar to that of the idea behind the project as a whole: all these historical figures meeting each other in the Underworld after they died. Maybe.
You can find all the songs on Bilibili. The official Weibo can be found here. The game's website, which includes all characters appearing so far in the game, can be found here, and its Weibo can be found here.
(If you prefer YouTube, I've also put together a handy playlist. Please know that most of these videos are reposts though, so please watch the original Bilibili MVs if you can!)
This blog is where I will be posting everything I feel like I need to say about the songs in this project. A lot of it is lifted from my Twitter account but will be in much more detail. Note that I probably won't touch collab songs, or songs that don't focus solely on the project's own characters.
Disclaimer: I do not speak Chinese, nor am I an expert on Chinese history. Therefore, I cannot reliably translate the lyrics to these songs, nor my words should be taken as gospel. I am merely a nerd gushing about my hyperfixation.

Plug and play demo of my svp for Pinocchio with Wei Shu~
I think back when I was thinking of covering this song, I was considering doing so with An Xiao rather than Mai. But Wei Shu sounds very soft in this, and he's a less common voicebank, and I'm trying to get people to try covering this song with the voicebanks they have, you know? (*/ω\*)

Quick Wei Shu cover of Hide and Seek using the file I previously created for Saki AI Lite. Since it'll be a while before I can finish a full project just for him :>
Wei Shu is underrated, so please give this a listen-- and I'd be happy to hear if you liked it, or what you think I should do differently when I use him again!

I've been begging for an opportunity to use Wei Shu for a new cover but ask a certain person who's not doing their part of the work for a WIP that comes first at the very least I made this when I got him
vote wei shu in the underrated vsynth tournament >:)
(... and uh, this, i guess?)

Well, perhaps I am skewing a bit more negative than usual with the tricky situation I'm going through. But there were things that genuinely brightened my day today! Like all the SynthV news (if you find covers featuring Wei Shu hmu) and finding an appointment for my MRI for early November - something I had NO hope for. When I was on my way to buying groceries, I felt myself in a bad mood, and I told myself that it was fine, it made sense, and I should probably let myself feel the things I need to feel. But I also reminded myself about how epic it is that I got that appointment and I felt better from that.
