I haven't listened to the Children's Adventure, so take this with a grain of salt, but i think that the thing Taro represents of Grandmother Wren that she must give up/externalize in order to do her duty as Witch of the World's Heart is not just mischievousness but also stubbornness.
The thing that an old rooster exemplifies. I also (again just from the prologues) think it makes sense that stubbornness is needed to guide and teach a child like Ame, so it's cute when Taro is a constant pain in her butt and constantly on her case, pushing her in the right or safe direction.

Here's a post for all you witches in University.
Tumblr media
It's okay to not practice as much as you used to.
It's okay to not be able to burn that candle, insence or cleansing bundle.
It's okay to not have the money for the offerings you used to give.
It's okay to find it hard to practice alongside your workload.
It's okay to put a pause on your craft.
You're human and you can only do so much. Your craft will still be there for you when you're out of uni so do what you can but do not stress.

Rage Aspect Thoughts
Rage inspires revolution. Rage breaks rules.
Rage knows negative emotions intimately, how to destroy from the inside, how to get under people's skin.
Rage can calm and rage can infuriate. Rage can make the enemy mindless with fury and can pacify betrayers in a session.
~
A Witch of Rage is the ultimate destroyer.
They can make anything possible with enough self-justification. Meaning, as long as they stay feeling negative emotions strongly (fear, disappointment, anger, sadness), they can do anything in the moment. Think of it as their flight or fight senses kicking in at extremes, letting them teleport away if they're too upset / too scared, or giving them immense strength and whatever powers they can imagine to fight off what's bothering them. Their powers are handy, but dangerous as they feel negativity so passionately, it can literally destroy them. They have to be careful.
~
An Heir of Rage is especially susceptible to feeling rage and is receptive to other's upset emotions. They would able to shift people's rage through showing them how ridiculous their anger is (by mirroring it) or joining them in their anger/dejection and doing so helps them both deal with it together. Once god-tiered, an Heir can embody their aspect, so this could mean an Heir of Rage can shapeshift to what someone fears the most, or become the very bad thoughts that infiltrate their enemies' brains, like entering their minds to create a tailor-made hellscape they can't escape.
~
Don't mind me getting a bit personal as I try to describe my thoughts on my Classpect, lol. With how apt Mages of Rage are in sensing negativity, they are able to distinguish who is trustworthy and who isn't, essentially being able to sniff out intent. They have the most potential to be the group therapists. They understand all aspects of Rage, both the good and the bad, and treat it with compassion. They can understand anyone's troubles and be the perfect person to come to for help on what should be fair and how to deal with conflict. On the other hand, the classpect is also stubborn, and when their advice isn't taken, they can take it as a personal affront as their views on an injustice are unbreakable.
~
A Thief of Rage hoards all negative attention. They like taking all the blame; wants noteriety to be their brand. It can be a kindness that helps calm others and bring peace to the group, to have someone that's always taking the brunt of everyone's emotions so that they may pass, or it can be disastrous as they cause conflict by hogging all attention, concern, and energy that shouldve been given to the bigger picture problem. They make for a great distraction in battle, able to dodge attacks as enemies can't take their eyes off them, even zapping the very motivation to fight out of them the longer they chase and using it to make their movements faster. They can be the biggest detriment to a session or the biggest surprise asset.
~
A Prince of Rage works to soothe. They want things to stay calm and for everyone to work together in harmony. They would never want to rock the boat, never giving in to their anger with an ocean of pacience and understanding. They prefer doing everything they can to motivate people to see the bright side of things, lulling anger and fear into the background. They're the most comforting of people, knowing just what to say to make you wipe away your tears and giving the best hugs.
In god-tier, I can imagine them having the strongest pacifying power out of any Rage player. Just by being in the battlefield, their opponents start feeling chiller and forget what they're even fighting for. Like a teabag seeping in hot water, the effect can slowly take over and turn the tide.

Finally found my true God Tier (Witch Of Blood), now trying to find my land and could use your help? I know what my lesson is (essentially the serenity prayer, y'know, to be able to determine which things I can or can't control and accepting for those that I can't that that's just going to be the way things are) but I don't know which aspect that fits into never mind how to go from that to a land?
check my aspect lessons post to figure which one is yours, then we can figure your land. how did you figure your classpect is witch of blood?

could i hear your analysis of a prospit witch of doom ? :] thank u!
ahhh doom is my absolute FAVORITE aspect!!!!
thoughts on a prospit witch of doom below the cut...
so!!! as i stated in a previous post, prospit dreamers are very outward with their emotions. very show AND tell. dream moons do go a bit deeper than optimist and pessimist, after all!
another thing to keep in mind is the witch class, as a whole. usually, a witch will break the rules of their aspect!!! the best example that i can think of being Feferi Peixes, a Witch of Life, creating the dream bubbles.
SO, a Witch of Doom would rebel against Doom. So, I think that this means that they would almost be a life player, in an odd way? Obviously, not quite the same, but I think that they'd have a rebellion against doom.
I think, for example, if they got stabbed or killed, they might be able to stop themselves from dying in a complete frankenstein kind of way. They might die, yes, but I think that they'd be able to reanimate themselves or others.
I don't think they'd be able to heal, but I definitely think they could make zombies, if that makes sense!!!

Can you describe a Witch of Doom?
In terms of raw combat power, probably one of the most destructive classes you could name, with none of the side casualties you might expect from a heavy hitter on that scale. The weapon/magic/etc used would likely vary by the person, but whatever it is, it hits hard. We're talking OHKO shit with no friendly fire.
The flip side being that total control over when and how something ends/the literal or metaphysical boundary lines, means you can likely expect this person to be their own worst enemy. They devise the very constraints that bound them. Getting caught up in their own concerns, overloaded by too much data, decision fatigued or anxiety paralyzed, etc.
Let's imagine three players facing an unbreakable wall. A Hope player, a Void player, and the Witch of Doom.
The hope player's certainty in themself, their team, their weapon, etc allows them to achieve the impossible and break the wall.
The void player inverts the nature of reality around them in such a way as to render the wall breakable.
The Witch of Doom rewrites reality such that the wall was always breakable, and moreso, was destined to be broken by them.

Do you have an explanation of the baba is you post for someone who hasn’t played it?
[Re: This Post.]
Baba Is You is an indie puzzle game that focuses on the manipulation of rules to win any of its levels. It requires you to throw out all your preconceived notions of how video games are intended to work- with their often rigid rule sets, one set method to win, and linearity- and work strictly under the confines of whatever level you're in. Do not overthink, ever. Do not form a status quo in your mind, ever. Restrict your thinking purely to what's on the board in that exact moment, or else you've already lost.
Nothing can explain the gameplay better than either watching the trailer (posted below) or picking the game up yourself.
youtube
It's an incredibly Witch of Doom game. It checks all of the boxes. Rules, Sacrifice, Necessity, Restriction, Programming, Death, so on and so forth. It's all there! It's a great way to get to understand both the specific classpect of Witch of Doom, and just Doom in general... All wrapped up neatly in the fun package of a really, really good video game!! Cannot recommend it enough.

A meeting of the Coven of Elders is nigh … and meanwhile, our Coven of Designers is eager to receive your official feedback on the witch class! We promise that, unlike certain Elder Coven witches, we have Ame’s best interests at heart. In fact, we want to make her abilities (and Fox) even better—and that’s where you come in.
If you’ve played a witch, played in or run a game with a witch, or even just read through the PDF, we would love to hear from you in this survey! (If you already left a comment on Patreon, it would be super duper helpful if you could also put your feedback in the form, but we will read the comments regardless.)
The feedback form will be open for a month, through midnight Pacific Time on Sunday, March 10th. The most helpful feedback is simply telling us what you enjoyed or didn’t enjoy and why, not what you think the mechanics should be. Too many cooks in the cottage’s kitchen and all that.
Friends, spirits, wanderers between worlds—thank you. We can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
Access the survey here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/98344047
If you've not yet tried the Witch Class, consider pitching in $5 a month to our Patreon for access to that, and so, so much more bonus content!

Native Witch of Breath here, also been a Witch of Might and Witch of Void, though currently a Heir of Hope. I gotta say, I personally put a lot of stock in familiar theory! I just don't think it applies to every Witch in every session, and the was that cherub was doing it was pretty crazy.
It can be part of the progression of a cryptical class, I think. Witches can be hard to understand, so they in turn get something that's usually not even the same species, or thinks very differently to them, that *they* have to deal with not being able to understand. (Not sure if Mages have an equivalent? Maybe they do and it's just not as obvious.)
It also ties into the whole "Witches usually prototype something terrible" thing. Often the sprite actually is the familiar- a familiar doesn't need to stay with you the entire game, just long enough for the game to try and get the point across.
My first session, I prototyped my pet bird that died. It was a very touching reunion, but it was SO eager to leave, and I had to keep convincing it to stay, until I eventually realized that sprites leaving was part of the game, and that as a Breath player I shouldn't be restricting something's freedom anyway, even if it was to much of a birdbrain to really explain itself.
In the session I was a Witch of Might, it was admittedly a little more metaphorical. I was going out of my skull trying to understand the "Might is water" thing, and so I took the glitch FAQ's advice, and went to stare at an ocean.
And then after doing that for an hour I lost it because I was under a lot of stress in general and this was the last straw and blew up the beach (bombkind FTW). But after I was done, I saw all the water, pooling in the craters I left, flowing together to join the whole, and suddenly something clicked. After that point, it was really hard to conceptualize water as NOT being alive, an ever-present being in the vapor around me, that I had to learn how to ask for help. Like how the water could only pool once I made the craters for it, I needed to figure out that same kinda stuff for other situations.
...And than as the Witch of Void, I didn't have one. Which, I guess makes sense, but I HAVE heard of Void Witches that do have a familiar, so whatever.
So yeah, I guess I don't have any solid proof here, I get that any of these things could have happened to any player- but my point is, it's how Witches RELATE to these things, that's different. Every player has a sprite that leaves them, but a Witch may find that it's oddly related to their aspect. Every player has to figure out their aspect and listen to it's whisperings, but as a Witch I practically saw it as another player in it's own right. And then sometimes maybe it just doesn't happen, I dunno.
Finally, I think this is a stretch, but it might even be part of why Witches get that weird crazy boost to gardening? Plants are also living things that are different from you, so a plant could be your familiar, and it would be bad if it died or never got planted before it could fulfill it's role?
Very interesting. Or because you discussed plants, intreesting.
If I'm interpreting this correctly, it seems like Familiar Theory doesn't relate to an actual game construct, so much as it refers to a sort of (para)psychological event, not unlike the Third Man Factor. It's not that Witch players somehow gain access to special pets when that's normally impossible, it's that the cryptical nature of Witches is isolating, being deliberately obtuse and interacting with the game in such a manner that no other player could relate to the Witch even if it wasn't mechanically penalized. So the Witch, in a way, conceptualizes a companion or other meaningful relationship who they can relate to (alleviating the isolation) and who communicates with them or otherwise imparts meaning in an obtuse, nonobvious, or cryptic manner (acting as a Witch to the Witch, as you said, or perhaps being a Class-analogue of the normally Aspect-oriented Whispers).
If anything, this seems somewhat comparable to the various SBURB mental disorders. Not to imply that you're a repeated sufferer of mental delusions, mind, only that it's a special psychological phenomenon that could only really be understood in the context of SBURB. Not to mention that the mental disorders are all deleterious in nature (hence "disorder"), while Familiar Theory seems mostly positive.
Emphasis on mostly, because as we know the Cherub Witch of Hope is off her rocker. With all of this in mind though, I wonder if it's possible to "diagnose" her, in a way. She called her brother "a beast to be tamed", said that "controlling him was [her] only hope", and that he was her "reward" for making it through the session. She's not currently a Witch of Hope, I think, that's her Native Title and I don't know what she is currently (her brother's Native Title is unknown but he's currently a Mage of Rage). A fair amount of this boils down to her believing that her brother is innately evil or destructive (even though he seems pretty pleasant), but how much of this relates to Familiar Theory? "Reward" implies a certain amount of possessiveness, less like she's the student and he's the teacher, more like she's the owner and he's the pet. As far as "Familiar Theory as the Third Man Factor" goes, SBURB is already stressful, and a duo session would be doubly stressful at least. Especially because only one "side" is active at a time, halving the rate at which progress is made, and depriving an already loney Witch of anyone she could possibly talk to. I think I have two theories now.
Theory #1 is that she underwent a sort of stress meltdown in her first session, and underwent "Familiar Theory" towards her brother as a coping mechanism. She ascribes negative intention to him, and felt like she was their only chance at survival, with him as a malicious millstone. As an active harbinger of complexification, wielding rejection, she began putting up a facade of saccharine disposition, and adopted a drive to sublimate her alter ego. A strengthening of willpower that let her fully embody active Hope, pushing against the odds and rejecting any undesired outcomes, including those of an unsuccessful session, and her brother achieving dominance (or equilibrium). Of course, abusers derive power from mistreating others, so she isn't letting her "Familiar" go unless she can be forced to. This theory accounts for everything, of course. His needing to be tamed (malicious intentions ascribed), controlling him is her only hope (internalizing rejection), her reward (someone she has power over), and the material conditions for a Witch to seek a Familiar.
Theory #2, of course, is that she isn't even understanding Familiar Theory correctly, and is instead interpreting it uber-literally. This theory accounts for her being a skeevy weirdo with a loose grip on reality, because she is the Cherub Pet Gal.

what do you think about witch of heart?
I’m unsure if you meant in general or in terms of my post about splinters and masks.
In general Witch of Heart, one who manipulates soul, is a powerful classpect, but one that is prone to control issues. Not as in a lack of control, (They have immense self control and outwardly seem to be among the most emotionally stable heart players), but they have difficulty giving up control.
That, however, leads me into the other idea. The Witch of Heart is one of the least likely kinds of Heart player to fully splinter. This is mostly due to the majority of their outward facing self being a mask/splinter of its own. Every bit of a Witch of Heart others see is carefully constructed to be as in control as they can be. No feeling gets out of their head without being filtered through the idea of what it would look like to others. This can often look closer to Mind player behavior from the outside, however, the process behind it is very different. A large part of a Witch of Heart’s journey is letting others past their mask to their true self without running back to the “safety” of their control. If the situation gets to the point where the mask falls before they are ready, it can shatter, and in the ensuing race to regain some bit of control they can end up truly hurting those around them and it can take longer than it should for them to realize this.
I hope that all makes sense!

Allow us to dive in.
We begin by talking about the class, that in Dahni tradition, always comes first in the list.
...The Witch...
But not just any Witch.
We are analyzing...
The Witch of Doom.
This class is well known to be enthusiastic individuals, rebelling against their aspect. In this predominantly active class, Witches know that the power of their aspect... can be used in order manipulate said aspect, actively rebelling against all facets of their ownership. This is even true, even especially when paired with that of limits! When said Witch is of the Aspect Doom.
For the Witch of Doom, impossible is just a word.
"One who Rebels against limits."
If there is even any implication of a limit, or rule. the Witch of Doom. Will learn how to work around it. Bending limits of said rule, finding loopholes, understanding just how far not to go that the rule will not break. They push limits. They work the system. But they are true to the rules placed on them, though they cannot rebel against what cannot be rebelled against. Gravity for example, is a rule. What comes up must come down... at least, as long as you're on earth.
A Witch of Doom could also be said to be someone who...
"Rebels against what is considered to be unchangeable."
Years ago it was considered to be impossible to fly a space shuttle to the moon. It was the Witches of Doom who thought better. Better than myself? Nobody bends the rules of reality better than the Witch of Doom, or perhaps the Heir of Doom. But the latter does so without even knowing it sometimes, for the Heir is predominantly passive.
But we are not talking about Heir. Though they are alleged by many to be the other manipulation class bending their aspect.
"Rebels against the cruel fate of suffering, or what is 'doomed' to happen."
If there is a will, there is a way. If the fountain of youth existed, or was humanly possible. One had better believe the Witch of Doom would be leading the charge, for none other than themselves. In order to escape death? They will do anything and everything
"Rebeling against the rules of their existence..." Know. That a Witch of Doom... is whom I see to be the ultimate rule breaker.
Unfinished...
Soon to be.

Can you just tell me some random stuff (facts?) about a Witch of Light or a Sylph of Life. Either one works If I am being honest
ok, sorry for taking so long on this!! i'm not sure i'd call them "facts" since everyone is different and there's tons of different ways to portray any classpect, so it's more like just some random thoughts and rambles :p it's only different from my analyses because i just talk about whatever i think of in the moment instead of touching on every part (arc, powers, quest etc.) - which admittedly is how i used to do the analyses too but i plan to go more in depth with those now!
but yeah here you go!! i'll probably do sylph of life in a later post too! :)
witch of light rambles
so the thing about witches and sylphs is that a part of their arc might be aspect-related isolation. that could also just be a space player thing, since jade and kanaya are both space players and space = distance, but i think you can make enough of an argument for feferi being separated from her friends by her blood caste that it works pretty well as an interpretation.
so when i think of a witch of light my first thought is someone who's in a position of great importance, like being the child of a famous person or having some other special status, and is isolated from their peers as a result. obviously that's not the only way to interpret it, it's just what immediately comes to mind! it could also be that they're very bright, as in intelligent, or even just well-read and knowledgeable, and so they're kind of on a different level than everyone else and they feel like no one really gets them. or they're very charming and likeable or otherwise the type that stands out in a crowd, and they get a lot of attention that makes others jealous, including their friends.
this is really random but i did think of it just now so i'm sharing it: i think a witch of light who's a vampire would be really cool >:) like they're isolated by light in a literal sense since they can't go out in the daytime! ooh, and maybe they're so bored with immortality that they're always trying to learn new things and picking up (potentially light-related) skills and hobbies. though i'm not sure how an immortal vampire would god tier... probably just being staked on their quest bed or something lol
i'll get back to the less silly stuff now though. i think a witch of light could be kind of a know-it-all, except most likely not on purpose? or a little bit on purpose idk, could go either way. they'd also maybe be the kind of person who tries really hard to get through to people who won't listen to them because they're convinced they can make them see things their way - witches change and direct their aspect, and perspective is a part of light. and the perspective part could also mean they're well aware that everything isn't always what it appears to be, and they know what information to share and what to hide in order to get the outcome they want.
they're probably great at distractions too (light = attention). and then of course we have light as in luck/fortune! i bet a witch of light could turn unfortunate events around so that they turn out to be beneficial instead. they're just really good at making the best of bad situations. i could see them having a very sunny disposition (pun intended)!
i hope this is interesting/helpful!! also here's a quick silly doodle of a random witch of light as an apology for taking so long :3
