it’s really one thing after another with these landmarks

of course there’s Big Sur, kaylor mecca, that is being perpetually used for these milestone stunting photos

but i was thinking a bit about how karlie’s wedding photoshoot was held in the woods of a town called bedford, which we know because then mistah j named that app of his “Bedford” saying it’s namesake is where they got married, and then taylor goes and does all the visuals for folklore like, 10 minutes away from bedford

and then there’s the business of brush creek ranch, being a place both parties frequented as far as we can tell, and then potentially becoming the place that taylor proposed to karlie at, and then it being turned into the “second wedding” yeehaw business retreat, patron party favors and all,

and then there’s the malibu airstream that was used as the set of their vogue shoot, that burned down in the woolsey fires in 2018, that was the subject of symbolism in YNTCD

and the prince street pavement... a TS ♡ KK with the TS covered in extra pavement and then re-etched in there, only to be cut out completely and replaced with a J

it’s just, i dunno, there’s just something very grandiose about it... sometimes it just feels like a novel. larger than life.

one thing i have liked or, well, no, liked isn’t the word, i guess, one vein of songwriting that really just turns on the waterworks for me with taylor is these songs she’s putting out about landmarks. Cornelia Street. The Lakes. The Last Great American Dynasty. Welcome To New York. ...maybe to some extent Dancing With Out Hands Tied.

there’s something about these songs that really do it for me. i hope someday she will make more of these songs dedicated to articulating any of the above places because, each song is like its own power spot and i just think they’re some of her most moving stuff..

Billie Eilish, Selena Gomez, and More Coachella 2019 Highlights

Coachella 2019 is officially underway, and it’s already shaping up to be a festival to remember. With performances from Kacey Musgraves, Janelle Monáe, Billie Eilish, and, of course, Ariana Grande, this year’s Coachella was expected to please, and it definitely did not disappoint.

If you didn’t snag a ticket to the festival, don’t worry, as there’s plenty of ways to follow along. But we've also got you covered with a roundup of all the highlights from the stage, featuring performances that will go down in Coachella history. Ahead, check out all the moments you don't want to miss, from Selena Gomez’s surprise appearance to Billie Eilish’s ~spooky~ performance.

Kacey Musgraves's fans had a liiiiiittle trouble with a call-and-response game.

During her crowd-pleasing set on Friday, April 12, Kacey tried to find out how much yeehaw energy the crowd had, by urging them: “When I say ‘Yee,’ you say ‘Haw.’” The directions were simple enough but on the third round there was a pretty big epic fail, and Kacey called it out both IRL and on social media. “I didn’t say f*cking ‘yee!’”

Luckily, the rest of her set — which included songs like “Slow Burn” and “Butterflies” — went completely smoothly, and was just as iconic as you’d expect.

Billie Eilish turned the stage into a horror movie.

The critically acclaimed singer-songwriter performed “Bury a Friend” while posed atop a bed with iron railings suspended from the ceiling with chains, creating a vibe that definitely felt like something straight out of The Exorcist. Billie’s set also included hit songs “When The Party’s Over,” “Ocean Eyes,” and “My Strange Addiction” to the delight of the crowd scream-singing along with every lyric.

Selena Gomez and Cardi B surprised the crowd.

The two singer-songwriters made an appearance during DJ Snake’s set on Friday, along with Ozuna to perform their hit song “Taki Taki.” The performance marked Selena’s Coachella stage debut; previously, she has been seen attending the festival (and showing off plenty of cute springtime fashion). Cardi is no stranger to Coachella either, having performed at the 2018 event.

Speaking of surprise appearances…Jordyn Woods made a cameo during Jaden Smith’s set.

The model jumped on the ‘chella stage during Jaden’s song “Icon,” as a Tesla was lowered to the ground (casual). She later documented the moment on her Instagram Story, writing “Had to run onstage of course.”

BLACKPINK made Coachella history.

The girl group became the first female K-pop band to perform at Coachella, and their set was live-streamed on a huge screen in New York City’s Times Square.

Rosalía emerged as a crowd favorite.

Her Friday night performance was both captivating and emotional, as she told the audience: “I come from Barcelona. Far, far away and it means so much for me and to my people to be sharing this with you.” With a performance that contained Flamenco dance moves and a cappella singing, Rosalía’s Coachella set was definitely one to remember.

And Janelle Monáe gave everyone a futuristic fashion show with some notable special guests.

Janelle’s Coachella performance included an eye-catching five outfit changes, each more vivid than the last. Alexandra Mandelkorn, the performer’s stylist, told The Hollywood Reporter that she wanted Janelle to look like a “starship commander from an amazing Afrofuture planet,” emphasizing that there’s a militaristic theme throughout the entire performance, which included cameos from Lizzo and Tierra Whack. “Janelle's message is one very much rooted in love and spreading that sort of mentality,” Mandelkorn added. “Having the militaristic elements but someone who is preaching love is a dynamic we don't often see.”
