#you cannot show me ash ketchum in tears and not expect me to also be in tears
Text
I originally thought ending ash's arc on "the distant blue sky" (on Netflix) was weird when "the rainbow and the pokemon master" was such a perfect ending, but thinking about it more, an episode about appreciating something before it's gone is so applicable to how everyone feels about the anime.
"the things we regularly took for granted meant a lot more after they were gone."
so many of us stopped watching the anime for whatever reason, whether that was because we grew out of it, fell out of touch with it, or life just happened, but we'll always cherish the memories we have. whether you experienced the first season with the og 151, followed along into johto, hoenn, sinnoh, joined in during xy or alola, or even if you started with journeys - we all have a connection to the anime and have memories that we'll cherish and keep forever.
even though "the distant blue sky" isn't part of journeys' timeline, it's really such a perfect way to end ash's part of the anime because it reminds us to cherish the little things - the things we take for granted - because they might not be around for as long as they think they will. that doesn't necessarily apply only to the anime, but the little things in life itself. and, maybe I'm just a sucker for storylines like that, but I can't think of a better way to end pokemon: a story about how the journey, the small memories that make up life and its adventures, is so much more important than the destination. so appreciate those little moments, those things that might not seem like much at the time, but are always always worth it <3
