About the suspected spoiler in the German trailer
In case you haven't run into it yet, there's a detail in the German dub that seems to contain a spoiler. It's Kristina's line in this clip:
Tumblr media
In Swedish, she says: Så ska du kunna ta över efter mig.
Note that the "så" wouldn't be there unless something came before it. This could be a point in time, or more likely a condition. "Så" has a few different meanings, but in this context, it's likely a superfluous "then". As in, "if/when X happens, then Y follows."
The part that's been cut may have been revealed in the German dub where Kristina says, Du musst in einem Jahr in der Lage sein, den Thron zu übernehmen. (In a year, you have to be able to take over the throne.) Note that the subs saying Du musst in einem Jahr den Thron übernehmen (You have to take over the throne in a year) are not to be trusted - those are likely made by AI and/or someone from the marketing team who doesn't know the context and just abbreviated the line to meet on-screen length restrictions.
So is it a real spoiler? Well, there will be a lot of little changes in the dubs because languages work differently, and as a translator, I want to caution against interpreting all of them as meaningful! However, I find it hard to believe they would have added something as specific as a year's time window for no reason. It seems more likely the timing was mentioned in the part before "så" or in the surrounding lines in Swedish and the other dubs, but in German, it was put in the middle for word order, flow and/or lip sync reasons.
Still, I'm inclined to think this spoiler isn't as huge as it sounds at first. I admit that my first thought was, "what?? is Kristina ill?? oh I don't like that, it's such a cheap soapy twist to speed up Wille's choice"... But then I realised it very likely just refers to Wille turning 17 in S3.
By Swedish law, only a legal adult can take over the throne. If the monarch dies and the heir is under 18, parliament (riksdag) will appoint a temporary regent (riksföreståndare) and vice regent (vice riksföreståndare). The same thing also happens if there is no heir (note that only parliament can change the line of succession; August, for example, isn't an official heir until the law is changed).
In other words, Kristina is probably just saying something within the lines of In a year, you have to be able to take over if anything happens to me because Wille has just turned 17 and would be able to succeed her at 18.

People have pointed out that the clip of Simon asking what Wille likes about the monarchy and the clip of him looking sad on the bus have Simon in the same outfit. Personally, I'm worried that Wille, due to a combination of his mother's pressure, his own concerns about Erik's legacy, and their locker room argument last season (where Simon saying that maybe he couldn't accept Wille's family/position was a big blow), is going to get defensive and take that as Simon continuing not to accept his position. If he gets snappy and defensive about it, I could see that starting an argument and leading to sad Simon alone on the bus—and also maybe to that shot of them sitting together in class, looking tense, under the quote about Simon trying to support him and always "doing it wrong," which could happen the next day.

If Wilmon don’t at least get a hopeful ending as of 3.06, I will break something. They don’t need to be idyllically happy. But it looks from the trailer like there will be a lot of angst in S3, and I need there to be some kind of payoff for the angst at the end. Like there was in S2.

YR S2 Trailer Talk (Pt.1)
My, my has it been a fair whack of time since I last did one of these. The release of the S3 Trailer was like being opened from my rustic tomb, so I thought that I would do an analysis/thought/prediction post ! (Also - Please excuse the quality of the screenshots x the red play bar):
The Lake (Continuous):
Tumblr media
As we know from previous seasons, the lake's function has been situated as place of solace for its location outside of the royal, institutional and domestic spaces. It is both meditative and reflective.
In S1, the lake was one of the only occasions where the boys were not just happy (a rare instance) but also where they were afforded a sense of privacy (even if it was the illusion of privacy). It's on school-grounds, so it is somewhat controlled, but Malin was also there. Here, I get the impression that they might actually be on their own. The shot is so serene, with the golden-green landscape refracting off of the water, and the boys' silhouettes slightly obscured.
We also got a snapshot of this scene from the teaser pictures, where Wille and Simon were floating atop the water, and they were sort-of peacefully basking in the Sun. The lake has been consistent throughout the seasons: Season 1 was Winter, Season 2 was Spring (I think?), and so Season 3 may be the Spring-Summer transition (although I am aware that people are wearing coats and jackets during the trailer). If so, a change in season similarly ushers in social/cultural change, or anticipates a transition. In Summer coming around, tensions rise with the heat, and the pressure amps up.
Importantly, the lake shows up multiple times throughout the trailer:
Tumblr media
The hammock clip looks incredibly domestic and peaceful, which is nice to see, considering the arc that Wille and Simon have been on in order to get to this point. It's something simple and perhaps (on appearance) not particularly narratively potent, but it is important if we consider the lake to be a place of nostalgia. The Wille and Simon who lounge here in Season 3 are different versions of the lads that they were in Season 1. And honestly? I think that they're going to grab at any moments of peace they can get without the looming presence of the press.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ohohoheheheheuegeuhuege- The big questions !
As well as being a place of tranquility, the lake provides an open space for Wille and Simon to talk without constraints. We have seen Simon be critical of the monarchy since S1, but (I think) that this is the first time where Simon openly directs his criticism to Wille and asks him outright. However, what I'm more interested in is what he follows it up with: "I've seen how it makes you feel."
Now, this could very well just be Simon remarking on how Wille has been in the past. He's seen him scared, stressed, worried, angry etc. But, it makes me wonder if this might be an inclination of Simon seeing it at it's worst with Wille's anxiety (and by extension - His panic attacks). Maybe Wille has fully let Simon in? Maybe he's shown him what he's been afraid to let anyone help him with?
Also - Simon is wearing what looks to be his purple shirt in this shot, which makes me think that this could possibly come after the palace visit?
Tumblr media
(Pretty sure that this is the lake so we're gonna go with it-)
The thing that is honestly ripping my brain apart is that this could be a response to a NUMBER of different things. In the trailer, it comes after Kristina says: "You supposed to be able to take over from me." But there could be a chance that this ^ is in response to something else:
You have to maintain a traditional image. What if I don't want to?
You have to choose. What if I don't want to?
You have to stop fighting. What if I don't want to?
The options are endless.
(Also, Wille is wearing the same coat here as he is in the hammock frame above ^^.)
Tumblr media
First of all, the trailer really is indulging us in some beautiful shots. Look at this lovely composition of land x water in a wide.
Secondly, my word. It seems remarkable that something as simple as this shot could summarise the goal of 3 entire seasons, because surely, this is it? This is all they wanted? The both of them, with a picnic, by a lake, with the sunset. That is all. None of the grandeur. None of the drama. None of the unwanted extras. Just this.
Which is why the next two shots appear more unnerving:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It looks so picturesque...and then we get these two close-ups. It's one of the few instances we receive where Wille and Simon are sharing a fraught moment and openly reacting to it in front of each other. They are unified in their experiences. But really, how else do you try to articulate what you and someone else have gone through in the past year? How do you explain that to someone who isn't either of you two?
No one else would have been under the same scrutiny or the same institutional rigidity or even the same stress as they have been forced to get through in just a number of months. They have both suffered, from the hands of others, as well as the hands of each other. There have been moments where hope was high, as well as moments where the end was not in sight.
And again, we're back at the lake. It persists. The sun is setting and so it’s late in the day. But it’s still this continuous, emblematic thread that connects interrelated sequences and bares witness to everything that goes on. It’s almost like an omniscient location.
I don't think that they would have shown anything from Ep 6 in the trailer, purely on the basis that it's separate from the other episodes. I could be wrong, but this seems like it would happen at the end of an episode, maybe episode 5? I'm unsure of how you could transition away from this because summarises the whole relationship. I can't say if Wille's "Is everything okay between us?” comes from this scene, because I just get the impression that they understand each other. The tears, the looks, the furrowed brows, the positions, it all seems like they have a mutual understanding that evades the need for speech. Perhaps it’s less of a checking in and more of a rhetorical question. Will it be okay?
_________
This part solely focussed on the lake so I'm hoping to write another post discussing other elements of the trailer. Nonetheless, I am very excited ! Anxious and sad to see it go, but I’m so happy that I was here for the whole ride and will see it to the end !

"It takes a fool to remain sane !" The fool, the jester and the journey towards truthfulness and acceptance of difference ! Open your eyes baby ! Let’s be brave together ! Young Royal analysis.
Tumblr media
So it all started with a question that arose in the Kingdom (long live the Kingdom !), a group of fans discussing all things related to YR, playing detectives and throwing spaghettis all around to see what sticks (Kingdom TM). What does the drawing Sara makes mean, what to do with this strange Nordic Nisse ( a playful winter Gnome who loves to play tricks) under this blazing sun ? A winter gnome around Christmas makes sense. But what about the sun ?
Tumblr media
The image reminded me of a court jester and of the tarot card where the fool is represented by the sun.
Tumblr media
So we dived together, we found many interesting conclusions and today, I would like to go further, first to link it to the main song “it takes a fool to remain sane” and to link this carnival theme to the Valborg’s theme present in the S3 trailer. Let’s dive.
The song first chosen to represent the love story, the one that could be sung, the one destined to mesmerize the Handsome prince was “Symphony” by Zara Larrson. Then they switched it to “It takes a fool to remain sane” by the Ark. It’s the first song we hear in YR, in the church, with a Solo by Simon. It’s an important song.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the song continues a little bit in the next scene where Wille and Eric rediscover their inner child, play the fool by running up the stairs trying to escape the PR circus and the scrutiny. The song invites Wille and all of us to be the jester, to play it like a harlequin, to “take it to the stage in a multicoloured jacket /Take it jackpot, crackpot, strutting like a peacock/Nailvarnish Arkansas, shimmy-shammy featherboah /Crackpot, haircut, dye your hair in glowing red and blue”, Yeah Go  Simon ! Go Wille ! Go Wilmon ! (It's strange to see Wille in pink or in studded jackets etc. but I kinda like seeing him experimenting his true self, be brave etc. Embrace the madness baby ! )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So the song invites us to be different, to “be brave, to break down the walls of attitude” just for the sake of it. It invites us to not be afraid “to feel strange, to feel ashamed, to seem strange, to seem insane, to gain weight, to seem gay”. The song tells us that it’s “your right to laugh at me”, that it will not prevent me to “feel brave, because ridicule is no shame”.
Simon the gay, Wille the rebel to rules and Sara the autist embody the outsiders, the free thinkers who dare to be different, to not care about the look, to speak freely, to find one’s voice even if this is a painful journey. The struggles to be the fool in order to stay sane, the journey to be able to speak one’s truth is hard, leads to a steep hill.
To speak freely, to question the conventions, the traditions is exactly the role of the court jester. He has to open everyone’s eyes to the madness of society. Sara does it quite naturally. Wille endlessly attempts to do so with his parents (to no avail so far) thanks to Boris. He questions their reality. He opens his eyes and try to take them to also open theirs and question appearances. In a carnivalesque society where the jester has its own place, the roles can be reversed. The  fool can be a king, the gender boundaries have no meaning, the class divides are pointless.
So what’s the link to Valborg  ? Valborg is quite different. It has another meaning. But there is also a fire that ends the obscure times to lead to the light. And the carnival where the jester reigns normally ends with a bonfire where you burn all the old meaningless symbols. The fool and everyone are invited to dance and chant around a fire to start a revolution, i.e a reversal of roles, a new life, a new beginning.
So thanks to YR and  the Ark, we all know what we have to do:
Do, do, do what you wanna do Don't think twice, do what you have to do Do, do, do, do, let your heart decide What you have to do That's all there is to find 'Cos it takes a fool to remain sane Oh, in this world all covered up in shame

Fröken Julie?
Terrible screenshot but the play shown next to Wille here is Fröken Julie by August Strindberg.
Tumblr media
Cut for a summary of the plot/themes which I guess might count as a spoiler for YR S3.
Disclaimer: I haven't actually read or seen Fröken Julie, I just looked into it a bit online. So if anyone reading this has more insight, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
So, Fröken Julie is a story about an affair between a highborn girl (Julie) and an ambitious valet at her father's manor house (Jean), set on Midsummer Night. There's a power imbalance between them; first she has all the power, but as the play progresses, he figures out her weaknesses and exploits them. The story ends with Julie taking her own life after their plan to run away together and steal her father's money as a nest egg for the hotel Jean wants to start falls through. Oh, and Jean also has an existing fiancée among the staff, a cook called Kristin.
Strindberg wrote the play in 1888 as a tragedy about class warfare. His idea was that Julie, who dreamed of not being upper class anymore, represented the death of the aristocracy. Jean on the other hand represented an upward-mobile working class (ETA: he aspires to open his own business, which would make him bourgeois). Strindberg meant for it to be a social Darwinist piece where Julie and Jean were in a "survival of the fittest" against each other. There was also a "battle of the sexes" type of theme (Julie's portrayal seems rather misogynist based on my quick sweep and has been suspected to reflect Strindberg's own opinion on women, but apparently there have been some feminist readings as well).
I'm not sure what to make of it as a thematic hint here, except that I'm very sure it wouldn't be so prominently displayed in a trailer released so early if it was there to foreshadow an unhappy ending! Julie, Jean and their seemingly toxic affair definitely aren't apt parallels for Wilmon, so no worries there.
My guess is they're using the play to hint at a more general theme of class conflict and Wilmon's compatibility being called into question. Perhaps even Simon being wrongfully cast as a gold digger or as someone who just wants to take Wille down...
Anyway, just my two cents!

Hear me out. I have a theory but I don't know if it makes any sense because I don't think I am functioning properly for the past few hours.
So apparently we saw Edvin's fave scene which is supposed to be the last scene as he mentioned before. I feel like this is the ending, also with the water metaphor as rebirth and beginning. I can't be sure but I believe they are happy, in love and not under the scrutiny of media and monarchy anymore. (maybe? I only hope so.)
Maybe the lake has been their place and they have come often here to talk, to just be for a while only to sit there by the lake but in the final scene, we see them going in the lake and swimming. Finally free.
Also the lyrics of this song
🎶Take me to that place i like to go
Take me to that place no one knows🎵
Also I googled the water temperature in Sweden and it says only in July and August the water is cool, not even warm, for swimming. And even though they are so hot for each other, it feels like it would make sense that they will be going in the lake in the summer idk. It is highly probable that it is a much later scene. I am making a wild guess that the scene where they lay on their sides, upset and tears in their eyes is a different scene than this one and they are trying to fool us again.
I don't know what I feel if it is the last scene honestly but I couldn't stop thinking about it and I need to get it out of chest.

uhhhhh so i might have written a small angsty oneshot about the rock scene bc i cant stop thinking about the trailer. i swear AINE chp.13 and spiderwilmon are so close to being done but I just had to write this out of my head
**
Simon can hear his own heart thudding in his chest and wonders if whoever is outside can hear it as well, feels sick as the shadow pauses at the door before slipping away and quickly disappearing with the sound of shoes hitting asphalt growing more and more distant every second that ticks by.
It’s several minutes before he can move, before he feels like he can properly breathe as he slowly steps forward, eyes widening with a soft shaking breath.
There on the floor, surrounded by shards of broken glass, is a large, jagged rock.
Someone had been here. Had waited for him to return home and thrown this when they knew he would see it.

I’m starting to think Wille will step back from his role as Crown Prince and let August step in, but August will be in for a rude awakening when he realises he’ll have to give up any control over his life (saw a bit of this in his phone call with Jan-Olof). Bonus points if at the very end his role in the video leaking and the drugs is revealed anyway, leaving the Royal Court scrambling to deal with fact that the person they’ve bet the future of the monarchy on isn’t going to be well-liked.

hello here is another s3 wishlist. buckle up.
(includes random opinions)
simon and wille will shamelessly take food from the other's plate, specifically at lunch
walty. it was in my last list but i cannot stress how much i need this to be cannon
stedrika. same reason as walty
wille gets a nice balance between the soft, innocent, blissfully ignorant to the horrors of the world person he was in the beginning and the gaslight, gatekeep, girlbosser he was in season 2
body worshipping
nils' story line continues
marcus go fvcks himself, if not, wille, rosh, and ayub lecture the bitch out of him
Linda and wille get to know each other
will ludvig finally says something? maybe. i'd be surprised if he did, surprised if he didnt
simon and wille go erik's grave and make us all cry
pet names (not the sweetie, honey, babe, lovey, baby ones, though)
parallels (lake parallel, snuggling in bed parallel, initiation party parallel, teaching simon how to read sheet music by sitting thigh to thigh and shyly smiling and laughing even though you're "not like that" parallel)
hallway smut (its already guaranteed)
wilmon endgame
