The US Congress just passed this insanity but because they didn't also veto the measly 2 week long ceasefire at the UN, Netanyahu has pulled the Israeli delegation from Washington. The level of entitlement Israel has and the US continues to allow is truly sickening.

BDS groups are busy planning a number of demonstrations to oppose official celebrations of the 125th anniversary of the first Zionist Congress (which was held in Basel Switzerland on August 29, 1897).

A Palestinian man is asked in an interview by a white woman if he condemns Hamas while his people are being slaughtered in the open, and HE is the one condemned when he yells that it's injustice to insulate that his people deserve to be murdered, because "Hamas chose this."
A black woman is attacked first in a fight and SHE is the bad guy when she strikes back, she is the one whose face is plastered all over social media to be condemned and shamed for "aggression."
Two sisters are appropriately reacting to their oppressors by ripping off posters promoting their propaganda, and THEY are shamed and attacked for their lack of politeness when their people are being killed for existing.
An American democrat watches her colleagues cheer on genocide and ethical cleansing, the murder of children and the rape of women and the slaughter of families, and SHE is the one censored for speaking out in defense of them, despite her grief of losing family members.
Zionists are not condemned for enjoying the thought of children being killed, for calling Palestinians "animals" or saying Gaza should be "turned into a parking lot", Israeli doctors can get away with demanding that Palestinians, HUMAN BEINGS, should be murdered, that their only remaining hospital should be crushed.
They are not condemned for saying they wanted nuclear weapons unleashed on Gaza, they are not condemned for the imprisonment and torture of children, for desecrating dead Palestinians' corpses and mauling their bodies, for mocking Muslim Palestinians by rubbing their bullets against pig's skin before shooting them, for bombing Palestinian churches, for bombing universities, for shutting electricity from Gaza, cutting Palestinians from food and water, not letting them access to aid, for bombing CANCER hospitals and CHILDRENS HOSPITALS, for turning the sky of Gaza RED from explosions, for killing enough students that the entire school year was canceled, for annihilating families, for attacking Jewish people in Jerusalem, for cutting dead fetuses off dead mothers, for STEALING THEIR SKIN AND ORGANS and using them for their benefit, for forcing CHILDREN to hold a press conference to say that hey, they want to live.
Insinuating that this is about religion is the basis of Zionism. 60 members of Hamas were killed, and 10,500 civilians killed, 4000 of which are children. Over 800 bloodlines erased. Israel says they aim for "damage, not accuracy." Implying this is about Hamas is lies.
When white people in power tell you from their air-conditioned studios this is Israel defending itself, refuse to let Palestinian journalists explain things happening from their point of view, watch those journalists lose their entire families for speaking about what's happening to them, demonize Arabs who rage about injustice, ask Palestinians grieving if they condemn Hamas, know this is propaganda.
You shouldn't need them to tell you they're parroting lies to you. Their lies kill people. Their lies destroy people. Their apologies are insincere and their "sympathy" is limited only to those who look like them. It is unjust. It is cruel.
If I was were to narrate to you every atrocity Israel commited that I am aware of, I would never stop typing.

Man, seeing pro-Palestinian stuff makes me miss being in Oakland so much
Only one ceasefire candidate is running against Genocide Joe in my area and she has no chance of winning. :*(
And both Lawrence Hamm and Patricia Campos-Medina will be destroyed by Andy Kim (who is an aipac funded neolib). And there's no competitors against my representative, who signed that disgusting petition denouncing the ICJ ruiling against Israel, so her nasty pro-genocide ghoul-ass won’t be leaving congress anytime soon (along with Josh Gottheimer, who is even more evil than she is. He’s fucking despicable.).
I hate NJ sm

I love being Jewish and professionally studying this stuff bc it's always a good time to point out that the biggest pro-Israel organization in America, Friends of Zion, (donors/members include Mike Pence, Ted Cruz, Ron DeSantis, & Donald Trump) was founded and continues to be run by evangelical Christians, and has 10 million members opposed to the 7.5 million Jewish people living in the US (most of whom are open critics of Israel). There are estimated to be about 30 million Christian Zionists in the States alone, while the worldwide Jewish population is about 16.1 million. It was also primarily the US, Britain, and Russia's idea to dump all their Jewish citizens in the Middle East in the first place; the Holocaust just gave them a convenient excuse to go through with it. Strangely enough, those were the three nations that abstained/voted no to intervening in Gaza right now.
Ofc being Jewish and pointing out that Zionism was founded by Christians (and that the founding of Israel in and of itself was antisemitic) tends to get me accusations of being a "self hating Jew" so. This is fun
Zionists have created this paradigm where no one can be anti-Zionist without being antisemitic not even Jews. Goes to show how little it’s about protecting Jewish people and now much it’s just a flavor of European colonialism

it's so crazy that palestine was part of the ottoman empire for nearly 4 centuries but zionists such as chaim weizmann and herbert samuel specifically asked britain to colonize palestine during wwi in order to establish the state of israel later:

We can’t get a functional healthcare system or a solution to school shootings or a federal minimum wage above the poverty line or the fucking ability to expel actual fucking nazis from our congress but somehow we can get a near unanimous vote to equate antizionism with antisemitism, something that is only going to harm Jewish people even more than they already are. What a joke country this is

Don’t ever stop talking about Palestine. Don’t call it conflict, don’t call it war. It is colonial violence. It is genocide. Martyrdom. Call it what it is. Call for a ceasefire. It’s the most urgent action needed NOW but it is not a long term fix. It doesn’t end there. Don’t lose momentum

4 Elul - HaTikvah - 1907
On this day in 1907 at the 8th World Zionist Congress, the song Hatikvah was adopted as the anthem of the Zionist Movement.  It was sung at the First Zionist Congress in 1897, but would not become the official national anthem of the State of Israel until 2004.
The lyrics came from a 9 stanza poem written by Naftali Hertz Imber 1878.  In the next 10 years, it would be set to music by Samuel Cohen who adopted the tune from a Maldivian folk song.  The song spread rapidly, but not without opposition.
Theodor Herzl, the founder of modern Zionism, for one, did not like the song, and in 1897 launched a competition to find a worthy alternative.  His main objection was to a song written by Imber himself, who was not considered an upstanding member of society. Others did not like the non-Jewish origins of the melody and tried to compose alternatives.  Religious Zionists have never favored the song, as it makes no mention of G-d or the Torah.  R’ Kook, the intellectual father of the Religious Zionist movement (discussed in yesterday's briefing) wrote an alternative called HaEmunah (the faith).  Ironically, the Socialist Zionists also opposed HaTikva for its religious and messianic undertones.  They instead proposed Chaim Nachman Bialik’s ‘Birkat HaAm’ (the people’s blessing).
Nonetheless, the song persevered.  Many of those persecuted and martyred by Stalin and Hitler would sing the song in defiance.  When the State was established in 1948, the government did not make it the official anthem.  That would not happen until 2004 when it was enacted by the Knesset.

Since October 7th, Joe Biden, who is currently trying to get a lawsuit dismissed that says he is responsible for the genocide of Palestinians, has:
Vetoed the UN resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza
Asked Congress to approve the sale of 45,000 shells for Israel's Merkava tanks for use in its offensive against Hamas in Gaza
Sent $14.5 billion in military aid to Israel
Met with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and said to him "I don't believe you have to be a Jew to be a Zionist, and I am a Zionist."
Publicly said that he saw the Israeli beheaded babies and then had to take it back since it was debunked
Approved a $320 million 320 for precision-guided bomb equipment for Israel
Defended the raid of Al Shifa hospital where thousands of injured and displaced civilians were sheltering
Said he had no reason to believe the Palestinian death toll was correct because he believed the source was unreliable despite the Health Ministry being recognized as a valid source
Said Hamas’ attack on Israel was like fifteen 9/11s

What's new(ish) in the settler-colonial state of the US is that a series of bills have been passed in the House (the Baby Senate as I like to say) and are on their way to the Senate that make it harder to voice support for Palestinians while also making sure your direct taxes aid the genocide in Gaza.
These bills affirm the US's stance on the settler-colonial Zionist Entity and the implicit ties that the government has with Israel and really — just goes to show you how Israel is just one big base for American Imperialism.
Anyways, there's still time to call your senate and tell them that you don't want these bills that only further spiral the US into fascism so even if you think it might not do much — it's important that we document our dissent in official sources. And while you're at it — call your congressperson and tell them that if they voted for this you're not voting for them next election. If they voted against the bills, still call your congresspeople and tell them you support their decision to vote against these bills.
Here are the bills:
📍Resolution: HR 6126
Resolution Name: Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act Description: Gives $14.3 Billion To Israel From The IRS (Taxes You Pay). Like straight up. Just takes it from an IRS project, which used our tax dollars to begin with, to give to Israel "defense." Link to check summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr6126
📍Resolution: HR 798
Resolution Name: "Condemning the support of Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist organizations at institutions of higher education, which may lead to the creation of a hostile environment for Jewish students, faculty, and staff." Description: Will Penalize Students On American College Campuses For Supporting Palestine. This includes "Free Palestine" Protests as according to Rep Owens who introduced the bill (Click). Link to check who voted: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/118-2023/h578
📍Resolution: HR 3266
Resolution Name: "Tolerance in Palestinian Education Act" Description: They will be examining Palestinian education materials to see if it promotes "hate" or "violence" (aka are they teaching their children to become murderers??). Will inevitably require Revision Of Text Books In Palestinian Schools To Portray The Occupation In A Positive Light. Link to summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr3266
📍Resolution: HR 340
Resolution Name: "The Hamas International Financing Prevent Action" Description: Claims to stop financial support for "terrorist" organizations but considering that Gaza's government is run by Hamas, then this would mean Gaza will receive absolutely no aid and donating to people in Gaza could get you in legal trouble. Link to summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr340
There's a button for most of these bills that allows you to contact your representative directly. Please do take the time to contact them — while many of this isn't especially new to Palestinians, the difference is now that we have a larger power in numbers than we did in the past. Please make sure to advocate for you Palestinian comrades in the US whenever possible! Help us Free Palestine one step at a time!
