Got a resin printer and my first prints have come out excellent. This is the Renault FT conversion I posted earlier this year. The quality is incredible, though working with resin is a colossal pain in the ass because it's toxic and will get on everything.

little update with a sculpt I was working on a few months ago. haven’t done much work since getting a new job.

Would you be willing to share the goblin sculpt for lancer?
idk why tumblr only now notified me that I had this ask after almost 3 years in the tubes but unfortunately no, mainly because it's not very good and I don't want it floating around with my name on it. Maybe I'll make a better one in the future.

The Renault FT, converted for use as a proxy in a certain 28mm wargame. It lacks the sponson turrets of the unit it’s intended to replace but I’m looking into sticking some on the back behind the main turret. I’m also not looking forward to printing the treads, I expect they’ll be a huge pain in the ass.

A sampler of what I’ve been working on the past few months, I know I haven’t posted in a while. It’s all tabletop related - the first one is a conversion of an Admech vehicle from a hovercraft to a walker, with some additional details I wanted. Second one is the mount from one of the new AOS units that got announced last week, I love dinosaurs and it was a challenge to sculpt something organic. 3rd and 4th pics are for some dieselpunk/early 20th c. units I wanted to make, not quite WWI but inspired heavily by it. 5th pic is some troops I made based on Mottom’s royal guard from KSBD, and the last pic is a squad of skeletons I made to supplement my nighthaunt army.

More finalized render of the posed vargskyr models. They’ve got some little dudes with them this time :)
I actually finished this last November but an OS update gone awry meant I didn’t have access to Blender or any of my project files until this July. I’m currently in the process of trying to get this split for 3D printing but my computer can’t handle booling the sheer number of polygons involved in the mesh so that’s on hold until I can get one of my friends with a better computer to help out.
My next project is a character model (and hopefully portfolio piece) I want to put up on sketchfab, I began work on it last year around the time I finished this but it got delayed for the same reasons. It’s coming along really nice though and I’ll hopefully be done (or have it in a state to show off) soon.

Modeled the “vargskyr” (a bestial type of vampire) from one of the Warhammer box sets. spent like 3 or 4 days sculpting this after work each day and I’m very glad it turned out as well as it did. the hair was an experiment that paid off hugely (I used vertex painting and a particle system to distribute the fur clumps instead of manually sculpting them all) and a last minute whim to try vertex painting in order to show off the model with some color also worked out excellently, taking only about 15-20 minutes to approximate the official paint job.

wip. been designing a house for myself to live in if i were a rich megalomaniac. thinking of having everything in it be raw concrete and indifferent or unfriendly to human habitation. especially proud of the cantilevered chairs. going for a kind of solemn temple/sanctuary vibe.

more print stuff! just minis right now - one of my friends got a resin printer and we’ve been testing it out. very excited to make more stuff with it, the detail on it is phenomenal.
pic 1: some Tau units, first three are not mine, but the Elites I made from scratch.
pic 2: close up of one of the tau elites
pic 3: test run of the flamer girl from the “baka brigade”. she’s a bit too small, later prints fixed the scale but I don’t have them yet
pic 4: not mine, made by a friend - some kind of krieg unit I think, inspired by the kit of the solar auxilia(?).
pic 5: making a wolf for a friend who’s running curse of strahd and wants some enemy minis; the fur texture looks a bit weird but I’m hoping at the scale it prints at it’ll come across as fur and not like scales or something
I have more ideas for stuff to make than I have time - I start one project and get an idea for like 3 more before I can finish.

I see people continue to reblog some of my stuff but I completely forgot to actually show off some of the stuff I’ve been working on, partly because for a good while last year I wasn’t working on anything - the job I got in Sept. 2019 basically left me too drained to do any 3D work and I no longer had access to a 3D printer so I wasn’t modeling anything for that either. Quarantine gave me some relief from that though and I’ve picked up a few projects since then.
All of these projects would be worthy of their own post if I’d gotten far enough along to do a finished render or print but I haven’t gotten around to finishing any of these ostensibly active projects so instead, here’s the WIP dump. In order of appearance: 1) I got around to painting some of my prints, this dark souls guy is still a work in progress as I have to paint the crest on his shield and the undercoat but otherwise I like where it’s going so far
2) Some more Destiny 2 rips, made printable (I have a file with about a dozen guns in varying stages of progress, this is the only finished one)
3) I got a bug to try emulating the look of deep sea environments after seeing Underwater last year and only got around to it a couple months ago. Getting the underwater light simulation has been tricky as hell though.
4) Last summer I attempted to get into Arma 3 modding by starting out with some hats. Pictured is the collection of meme hats and other accessories I made. Modding Arma fucking sucks though, holy shit.
5) Jadis from KSBD - I liked where this was going but the kimono proved really difficult to make right, partly because I’m still new to sculpting and partly because I got fixated on modeling it with proper topology (which I’m also new/out of practice with)
6) My friends got me into wargaming, which is what all the rest of the pictures here are for. I suppose this isn’t a surprise given the pirate ships I posted previously but for a long time I hated Warhammer. I still think the lore is fucking stupid but I guess there’s some cool looking stuff in it. This is some kind of walker thing for the Tau.
7) Sangheili proxies for Tau human auxiliary troops. Two are carrying a Tau-ified Covenant plasma rifle. A friend suggested making a Prophet hover-throne as a proxy for an Ethereal, which is a project for further down the line.
8) One of the more ambitious projects. I wanted an Imperial Guard army that didn’t look like a bunch of fascists while also pissing off some of my friends who take Warhammer more seriously. These are some of the units for a proxy army that matches the IG’s loadout but is completely high school themed. The baseball pitching machine stands in for a crew-served machine gun, the fireworks are a mortar emplacement, the girl with the squirt gun is a flamethrower unit. There’s more that I’ll show off when I get further along and print some, like a parade float proxy for the tank and 2B as a commissar.
Anyway, here’s hoping this year will be better for productivity.

I sculpted a sphinx cat tonight, took about 4 hours of on/off work. Might give a crack at it in Substance Painter since I’m learning that right now.

Made an old man character for the OCT being run by the author of Kill Six Billion Demons. He’s a drunken layabout who is thought to be the master of a certain martial art, but mostly just dispenses dubious wisdom in exchange for loose cigarettes and liquor. Accordingly, by the rules of that setting, he is extremely powerful.

Low-poly models of two mechs from Lancer. I haven’t had a ton of time lately but I was able to crank each of these out in roughly half a day. They’re untextured and mostly made of primitives so I’m not gonna do any proper renders but I may port them into Tabletop sim, since the only Lancer tokens I could find there were 2D.

Fallen walker separated into parts for printing. The body’s gonna be heavy (the shape is funky and has a lot of concavities so it’s hard to cut out interior spaces to save weight) so I hope it’s not gonna cost a fortune to print.

Currently working on making the Fallen walker tank from Destiny into something printable. It’s nearing a printable state and I just have a few more things to do (this is the vanilla version, without boolean or subdivision modifiers).
This is one of a couple of in-between projects; last week, since I’ve been on a Destiny 2 kick for most of December (got it free in Nov.), I made two other vehicles printable (a Sparrow and the Hawk VTOL ship) but had some problems with the first iteration STLs so I didn’t put them up for download yet. Hopefully this one doesn’t have a shitton of problems (god I hate scaffolding) so I can put it up there soon.
I still haven’t fixed that dice tower, I’ve been procrastinating on it because it’s such a pain in the ass to fix. I found out that while I measured the insides to be large enough to let dice pass through, I forgot to make sure the stupid door was wide enough to let them out, so that’s a problem.

The photos are lopsided but here’s how the giant squid print came out. I’m actually surprised the water came out recognizable as choppy waves and sea spray, I was thinking it would just look like a mess of layers. The model needs work though, since the tentacles that attach to the body are difficult to fit into their sockets.
